Worked great for 5 years
2 months after the 5 year warranty expired, only half of the light fixtures light up. I installed two of these in my garage in 2018

    Doesn’t last
Brought one of those about 3 years ago. Now the plastic holders that keep the diffuser on, have broken. So now the diffuser hangs down. Unable to find replacement parts.

      Perfect fit in kitchen
Easy to install. Friend did the work; had installed the same ones at his house a while back. Didn't install a dimmer switch as my range hood provides lower light . Bright so some may want to do that but I'm happy as it is. Twi of these replaced 2 fluorescent 30 year old ones. In kitchen cooking area, definitely didn't want or need the color changing models. Only in for a few weeks, so can't comment on longevity.

      Dont waste your money
Purchased this morning, to replace a flickering/dying fluorescent fixture of similar size/design. Product was missing one of the six clips that hold the wraparound diffuser onto the led light base. Didnt notice until I had it mounted on the ceiling, so I did not return it (it is only in my laundry room). Issues: diffuser has visible color/shadowing flaws, seen only once the light is on. The clips that hold the diffuser are clear plastic, and as such, direct light out through them, instead of just through the diffuser. If they were white (similar to the diffuser), that might solve the light bleed issue. Overall build quality poor, but it is from China. Too bad it costs over $100 at Home Depot. Wanted to load more pics to show issues, but site only allowed one...

        Great value
Not a problem installing this light. I had to repair the ceiling first because the last light installed was a hatched job. The drywall attachment provided was not what I used to secure the light bracket. I felt it would be better to use the metal butterfly devices. That’s just me. Some people said in their reviews that you need a perfectly flat ceiling otherwise the light bracket would not sit correctly. NOT TRUE! The feet on the bracket were great and made the bracket fit snug. Wonderful product Hampton Bay! Make sure you call the customer service number to have Home Depot register the product for warranty. Great customer service.!

Limited Dimming Range to about 50% brightness
This light is labeled dimmable but does not dim like my other lights which go down to 1% brightness. I expected this to be a standard. However this light only dims to about 50% brightness. At lowest brightness it flickers when the AC or other power switches on. 4000k lumens is equal to about 5 60 watt bulbs. At dimmest setting it seems to be about 2 60 watt bulbs

We are very happy with our purchase this light. It was easy to install probably around 30 minutes from start to finish. What a difference from the old school fluorescent light that was up there before. There is plenty of light in the kitchen now. I highly recommend this product.

This was purchased to replace a similar length fluorescent fixture in walk-in closet. Overall it looks great. Good: 3000 Lumen is much higher than fluorescent and the overall light distribution is better since the ends do not have supports for bulbs as they did with the old style tube lights. Bad: The screws provided did not fit the metal junction box that I also purchased new from HD. (correct size but wrong thread pitch, I managed to find replacements from other left over hardware) Bad: The 1/4" pilot holes for the cheap plastic drywall anchors were too large and I had to use other hardware instead for mounting. I'm pretty sure a 3/16" hole would have been the correct size. Since we live in earthquake country I prefer toggle bolts anyway so that's what I used instead, however the sheet metal is so thin I wished I had used washers as well on at least the smaller dia. bolts that I used. Makes me think I got the wrong hardware set as nobody else seems to have any issue. Bad: The instructions are pathetic. For the cost of the lights it is too much to ask to have clear instructions? The box mounting bracket "BB" which is actually a round cover should be attached AFTER the wire connections are made. So step 3 then step 2. Or you can violate code like I did and make the connections within the light housing itself. OK: The latches to secure the cover are pretty neat. I found it easiest to slide in one of the short ends and then push up to better center the housing. The lip it fits in is quite narrow so centering it can be a little tricky otherwise. Closing the latches was super simple though and there's enough that they hopefully will last the life of the LEDs. OK: The metal tabs that hold the wires in place are just barely adequate. I saw at least one review complaining that the wires can be seen. If you don't firmly press the tabs down to secure the wires, they may slip out. It isn't easy to fit the ground wire and the main power wires all into the small metal tabs (F). Caution: Even those small pieces of Styrofoam will be visible when the light is off. Due to static I vacuumed out all I could but still missed a couple!

Easy to install. Much brighter than I expected. I think I could have bought the 12" wide model and it still would have been brighter than the 4 bulb florescent fixture I replaced. Still, it's nice to have brighter light in the kitchen.

We purchased two of these to replace the ugly florescent lighting in our master closet. My husband is not a handyman and he installed them with no problems after removing the other light fixtures. Pros: very good bright light, energy efficient, no more changing burned out bulbs, nice low ceiling profile & easy to install. The only con is some of the wires inside cast an odd shadow but that wasn't a deterrent in our master closet. Took a picture but wish I had taken a before picture because it made a huge difference. We love that we no longer have a dreary master closet!

Installed the light fixture in the kitchen a couple days after purchasing. It replaced a 2-tube 4 ft florescent fixture. I have been using the fixture a few weeks and am very pleased with its performance. I needed to drill two larger holes for clearance to get my wires through. I had the lenses cover off when I first turned it on. The fixture has four rows of 30 LED's, a 120 total. The light is very bright and looks good, even unique - on or off, without the lenses cover. After putting the lenses cover on I can not see the individual LED's. It gives bright even light through the kitchen. My only negative comment would be needing to drill two holes for my wires. The holes in the fixture just were not large enough.

A great replacement for older T12 fixtures
I was pleasantly surprised at how much light this fixture puts out, and how evenly it does so. I have replaced quite a few fluorescent fixtures in my house with LED tubes. Those were generally replacing fairly modern T8 tubes and electronic ballasts, and while the LEDs saved power, they often put out 10-20% less light (less lux on the work surface), and fell off even more when you got off-axis. (Many LEDs are quite directional, while fluorescent puts out light in all directions.) In this case I was replacing an older T12 fixture with 2 tubes, and was quite surprised to find out that this replacement fixture puts out more than double the light (lux) at any place I measured, whether on-axis or off. In fact, it put out so much light that I ended up putting an LED-rated dimmer on it (the fixture is rated for dimming), and it dims very nicely with only an extremely faint hum. This replacement fixture contains 4 strips of evenly-spaced surface-mount LEDs. With the diffuser in place I do not see any hot-spots: it just looks like even lighting across the whole diffuser, which is how I like it. The fixture was relatively easy to install, and I very much like the levers that are used to attach the plastic diffuser to the fixture: they seem to work very easily and well, and shouldn’t put stress on the diffuser. (I can’t tell you how many fluorescent covers I have cracked over the years trying to snap them on and off.) It is worth noting that this light fixture is available from Home Depot with several different diffusers (some of which look similar if you don't look carefully at the photo), so if you are getting multiple fixtures that you want to match, be sure the part numbers match so you get matching diffusers. My only real complaint about this fixture is that the LEDs are built into the fixture, so when they fail, you will have to replace the whole fixture, rather than just replacing some kind of a bulb. If the LEDs last as long as advertised, it should be a long time before you have to replace the fixture, but I still consider that a bit of a pain. (Odds are that years from now you won’t find a replacement fixture with the same mounting holes.) My other minor complaints: 1) The plastic screw anchors supplied for mounting this didn’t hold (they disappeared into the ceiling), so I had to replace them with molly bolts (sleeve-type hollow wall anchor). 2) To get the wires out of the fixture you have to punch out the appropriate knock-out hole, and the holes are pretty small. I would have preferred it if the holes were a little larger and already open, but this is a personal preference. In summary, I am very happy with the light output of this fixture (both quantity and evenness), and very much like how the diffuser attaches. So if you don’t mind installing a fixture that doesn’t have any kind of replaceable bulb, I certainly recommend this fixture.

              Perfect
This was a pleasure to install and use. The unit is lightweight and so, is easy to lift to install. Not the most stylish light around, but it provides about the same light as four 48" florescent tubes or eleven 40-watt incandescent bulbs. All for only 75 watts of power consumption. The cover removes very easily when you might ever need to clean inside. The cover is made of plastic and is very lightweight. Still, one needs to be reasonably careful when handling it because of the size. The LED's are arranged in a series circuit like the old holiday lights, but each string is only about 16" long, so if one LED goes open-circuit, you only loose that much light. This light can be used with a dimmer, but you should use one of the types listed in the manual. The dimmer I used varies the amount of light, but does not adjust down to the very minimum. I am not sure if that is the limitation of the dimmer or of the light's LED driver modules. Other than that minor complaint, I could find no other faults with this lamp.

              Love the led lighting
Very easy to instal only took a very short time and so lite you can hold it up yourself but much easier with two people. Seems to give more light then our old florescent tube type we replaced. You get instant light no few second lag. And it gives light all over the puff so you get more all around lighting. But be prepared to replace the whole light someday you can't replace the bulbs. But that should be years down the road.

              Awesome LED Light
The Hampton Bay LED is actually over and above awesome with such a brilliant, shining light. I absolutely love, love, love this light fixture and it by far the very best I've ever seen. I installed the flush mount light in the kitchen where shadowing was causing a situation with reading recipes, and the LED light solved that problem beautifully. I tried to capture on camera just how amazing it illuminates every crack and crevice to show its true beauty because of the LED technology. Installation was so easy to understand and straight forward. The new LED fixture replaced a regular, old fashioned ceiling light using the same universal wiring (black, white, neutral) that most lights use. There is absolutely no flickering or pausing when you turn it on like the fluorescent lights used to do. It's instant on and instant off.

This is a LED light and it was relatively easy to install. It is extremely bright with a bright white light. I would regard this fitting as contractor grade......also remember when the LED dies, you will need to replace the entire fitting. OK for its price.
