As you stand in the lighting department at Home Depot and look up at all the ceiling fans the sleek little Florentine IV doesn't make much of an impression, competing with most of the other fans that shout, "I'm a ceiling fan!" That is exactly why I bought it. The blades are clear Plexiglas; you can see right through them when the blades are not turning. The motor housing and base have a nickel like finish to give this fan a classy look. I have eight-foot ceilings and needed a low-key look. First I bought one for the bedroom and liked it so much I bought one for the living room as well. It comes with a nice 4-position wall switch for a full rage of speeds. It is quiet and both fans were perfectly balanced out of the box, no wobble. I am very happy with the Florentine IV.

  • Unique Look and Moves a TON of Air

We bought this fan to replace an existing (ugly) fan right in the middle of our living room ceiling. We wanted something to not stand out and be somewhat contemporary. This fan definitely has the unique factor and blends in (re: NOT stand out) with the ceiling. It is easy and straightforward to install and the wall switch with 4 fan speeds can put the speed from very slow to high-speed. The highest 2 (even 3) speed setting definitely move and circulate a lot of air around our living room, which is 300-400SF with 11ft ceilings. Highly recommend if you like the look. Also, as another poster commented, when the fan is spinning it almost gives it an optical illusion affect of wobbling due to the clear transparent fan blades.

  • Quiet, powerful fan but not light adaptable

If you don't need lights, this fan is a real winner. For a fan that moves so much air, it is very quiet. Due to the clear blades, it looks like it wobbles when it is running but it doesn't (its an optical illusion). A light dimmer can also control the fan speed - I found this out by accident. Its only drawback is that a light kit cannot be installed.

Pros Easy to Assemble, Unique, Looks Great, Stylish, Good Size & Weight, Fast / Speed, Nice Design Cons no light kit

  • Great air movement!

I have a room that was an addition. Always the hottest room in the house. This fan has great air movement. I can stand at the entrance to the room and feel the air move past my legs. The acrylic blades attach by heavy duty steel arms. This is solid construction. One of the better fans I have purchased. There is no light kit because of how the blades attach. As a note, looking up at the fan it looks as if its unbalanced. The movement of the clear blades causes this. Have to look at the fan from the side above the blades.

Pros Easy to Assemble, Well Made, Unique, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Nice Design

  • Elegant and Modern. Works fantastic and goes with everything!

I purchased 6 of these fans. I wanted something that was modern and sleek, and that did not distract from my decor. I wasn't sure about the look of the blades, but I am happy to say that I am very pleased. This fan looks elegant and classy, and not cheap at all (which was my worry). I have placed it in several rooms that had can lights or other lighting already, and it looks fantastic! It is super quiet and works extremely well. I love the different settings too. The only thing I can say that was a little negative was the ease of installation. It is not for a novice by any means. However, once it is up, it is well worth the hassle! Love this fan!

Pros Functional, Well Made, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Stylish, Nice Design, modern & minimalist Cons Difficult to Assemble

  • Love the look! It's everything I wanted and more.

Electrician installed, haven't moved in yet, so I can't comment on operation or installation. It will also be a change for me with dust being so visible. My current fans are so far off the ground, I don't clean them much. This fan will have to be dusted regularly. I wanted a sleek, minimal, modern look in a house with only 8' ceilings. Wanted a fan that wouldn't draw attention to the low ceilings and this is it. All the huggers I saw were big and looked overwhelming to the space. It almost doesn't matter how well it works, it's a piece of art.

Pros Unique, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Stylish, Very Bright, Nice Design

  • Great Value

This is a great fan if you're looking for a bit different modern design. First, the fan motor itself is attractive and small, as well as heavy for stability. It doesn't overpower a room with its size, but seems to have a substantial motor. The switch to plexiglas blades is pretty cool, again helping the fan blend into the ceiling instead of creating a huge ornament in the room. Our fan is ultra quiet even on high speed. You'll most likely run on medium or high due to the 3 fan blades instead of 5. Yes, if you stare up at it in a well-lit room the clear blades do bend the light and create a small illusion of a wobble even though it's steady. Just find something better to do than stare at it. We did not need an additional light, and the fact the fan is designed without the normal hanging pull chains was a nice plus. Our wall switch arrived broken, but customer service was very nice in helping us with a quick replacement. Equivalent fans at local lighting stores around Chicago started at $250.

  • Looks great, wish it had a remote instead.

Great looking and works very well at four speeds. The low speed must be for looks, because it is real slow. At higher speeds it keeps the bugs off you, and move a lot of air outside.

We replaced two slightly larger diameter fans with these Hampton Bay fans, on our back porch. They don't put out quite as much air as the original fans we had, and they also rotate a little more slowly. We have two of them, controlled by one Wall Control. If I get ambitious I may try adding the second Wall Control, since we still have one left, to see if it makes a difference....but we didn't need two of them with the original fans. We always ran the original fans on setting "2", now we are running these fans on setting "1" to get approximately the same amount of air. The original fans had more "curve" in the blades, plus were slightly larger diameter, so they worked better than these. But these fans look much better, they go better with our black porch railing and outdoor light fixture, they are very quiet and they do get the job done, so we certainly don't regret our decision to replace the old, faded ceiling fans that these replaced!

  • Great industrial look!

I live in an industrial style loft so I wanted something unique to fit the feel of our living room. The fan looks great, it's quiet, and has great airflow even with our 10 ft ceilings. I had an electrician install it and paired it with the Hunter Simple Connect Programmable Control so I can control it with my iPhone. The only drawbacks are that it is not reversible for the winter and the finish scratches easily so be careful with the blades before you put it together.

Pros Easy to Assemble, Fast / Speed, Looks Great, Nice Design, Unique Cons blades easily scratch
