They look nice. Surface mounted and you only need to drill a hole for the cable connector. If you use an anchor drill a quarter inch hole, not the 7/16 hole suggested in the instructions. Light spread is enough to fully light a 48 inch wide sidewalk. Also used on deck stairs and because light is facing down you don't get blinded.

I replaced my 12v. Incandescent halogen step lights with these. Perfect. Easy to install, very low wattage, great tone color. I will purchase more. Thanks Hampton Bay! These were just what I was looking for, especially at the right price point.

This product solved a long standing problem for my home. We have a long descending walkway down to our house. It was very difficult to light with fixtures from the side and the fixtures were exposed to damage. These new LED fixtures attach to easily to the steps and generate enough light for safety.
In general, the build quality seems fine, but we'll see how they hold up in weather. The connector to the low voltage lines could be improved. While it is easy to install, the connector plastic is thin and fairly brittle. I broke one during installation, so be careful!
I've attached a picture to show the light generated by the products. The steps are 40" wide and vary in width. There are total of 16 steps, one fixture per step, with two other smaller fixtures on the central landing. Total distance is about 60 feet.

Many other uses! I anxiously awaited this gems arrival for my camper project. I had a standard 12 volt bulb type RV light but wanted a more stylish and long lasting LED fixture. This fit the bill. The fixture is solid built and the matching screws are a nice touch. The unit is 12-15 volts and most 12 volt dc systems will work well. I simply connected the wires to my power source (+/- dc) and then plugged in the connector to the fixture. This allows for a neat installation. The light amazingly puts out as well as the RV light and uses a lot less energy. I can think of many other uses for this fixture other than the standard deck applications such as: boating, RV, truck beds, playhouses- just to name a few. Since it is for wet locations and low voltage, this fixture works well. I am impressed at the quality and output of this fixture. I highly recommend this brand and feel that it will perform well for many years. Very nice!
