I just received an entire kitchen worth of these cabinets. All I can say is absolutely HORRID. The quality control on what they ship out is absolute garbage. Don't get me wrong, for $2000 for an entire kitchen, I wasn't expecting anything unrealistic, but properly put together, properly painted and undamaged I don't think is beyond expectations. Every single cabinet was bad. Either damaged from shipping, damaged from a forklift, glue drips, paint splatters (big chunky ones), scraped paint, drawers weren't aligned, water damage inside the drawer (I'm guessing they let them sit outside), cracks in the frames, etc. I really wanted to like these and use them in my kitchen. It's hard to find 42" tall kitchen cabinets in stock options and I was so disappointed. I still haven't received my refund, being told "their system was down" so I don't know what's going on but I've been a long time shopper with Home Depot and this experience and product purchase has completely changed my mind on where I will be buying the rest of my home renovation products and where I will be referring my home reno bloggers to make their purchases.***The pictures I posted are just from the 2 42" cabinets I bought, but my entire order was like this and worse.

Needed more storage for kitchen items like the mixer, the processor and the vacuum packager. Installed over the computer in the utility room. They were easy to install. Main problem was the house was built in the 40's and the lumber is real 2x4's. They are tough wood and I had a problem screwing the cabinets to the wall. I then used a drill and predrilled the screw holes. That's when it all came together. They look great and we now have extra storage.

Pros Well Made, High Quality of Material, Looks Like Wood, High Quality, Looks Great, Nice Design

I recently installed these in my laundry room. They are heavy and seem to be well made.

  • Perfect for a laundry room!

This cabinet was just what we needed for our laundry room. The 36"x30"x12" model was just the right size for the room - any wider and I would have had to install it much higher for the top-loading washer door to open all the way. I installed the cabinet at the standard 54" height for wall cabinets, which left quite a bit of space between it and the ceiling. I had originally planned on getting some matching crown molding, but without the cabinets meeting the ceiling, I figured it looked fine and that it would be easier to store items on top of the cabinets without the molding. My walls were flat enough that I didn't have to end up using scribe edge molding either. Although if I could have found some standard molding in the same finish for around the bottom of the cabinet, I probably would have trimmed it all out to look a bit nicer. As for installation, it was super easy. I managed to carry the cabinet in from the car by myself. Once I had marked a level line on the wall across the bottom of where I wanted it installed, I found all the studs and marked them above and below where the cabinet would be. Then I screwed in one drywall screw into each stud and covered it with painters tape in order to create a temporary shelf to set the cabinet on while I installed it. Be sure to take the doors off before trying to install the cabinet! Next I set the door-less cabinet on the screws and made sure it was level by placing a torpedo level inside. Then I drilled pilot holes into the studs and used the recommended 3" #10 wood screws (not drywall screws, which don't have as much shear strength!) through the back and into the studs. I used 6 screws in total. Then I installed the satin nickel door pulls 3" from the bottom of the doors. They look great with the cognac finish. Be sure to drill in through the front of the door, and make sure you're on the opposite side from the hinge holes! The shelves and cabinet body are all made of veneered MDF. I think the only wood in the whole thing is the doors. However, it's all finished very well, and not super noticeable unless you're really looking.

Pros Functional, Looks Great, Nice Design, Light Weight, good value

Nice cabinet for the money when they aren't damaged. I have purchased a few dozen of these in the past and they were all good, lately I purchased about 10 and had a completely different experience. First I had to look at about 30 just to get the ones I needed because they were mostly defectively made. My experience leads me to believe that quality control is seriously lacking. Screws projecting through the face of the cabinets, marks on the doors, uneven finish on the doors, warped and twisted cabinets that are of no use to me. Wasted my time and money on these. Quality of this product is way below what I'm used to purchasing at Home Depot.

Cabinets were in great shape and easy to install. I chose to order these online through THD and picked up in store. They were ready for me on a rolling cart already. I also bought two 3" spacers to fill in the space I have in my laundry room. Mounting hardware is not included, so I bought cabinet mounting screws. http://www.homedepot.com/p/GRK-Fasteners-8-in-x-3-1-8-in-Low-Profile-Washer-Head-Cabinet-Screw-50-per-Pack-114083/203556498 These are good for utility spaces...laundry rooms, utility closets, garages. I don't think I would ever expect to see these in a kitchen. Maybe a basement bar, at the most. They're cheap, don't expect super high quality. But they're great for the cost and for what I need them for. Only one minor issue. The cabinets come with 2 shelves, but there were only enough shelf pegs for 1 shelf. I don't know if this was intended, or an oversight (though both cabinets?!). I'm sure if I called, they would send me the missing pegs, but we ended up only wanting 1 shelf per cabinet anyway. If it was important to me, I might knock off one star. But it's not, so 5 stars from me!

  • Laundry Room Happiness.

My wife tasked me with finding, buying and hanging white upper cabinets in our laundry room. Went into HD, saw these boxes and it was love at first sight. I knew my room dimensions and bought several of various sizes. Loaded the in my van, brought them home and had them hung in 2 hours. The seams are tight, doors are level, edges line up, and the quality for cost was better than I expected.

I would recommend the product, however it came into the store damaged in a number of areas! Both shelves were damaged, one side was damaged and when noted to the store clerk, they said sent it was ordered on-line they couldn't do anything about it. We took it anyway and though we were able to repair it enough so it doesn't look terrible, we won't do it again.

The American Classic cabinets are a great value for the money. Although the quality is not top of the line, the quality is exactly what I required in the laundry room. I am please with my purchase and would recommend them to anyone who is shopping for an economical altenative to expensive all wood cabinets.

We were disappointed in the quality of these cabinets. We purchased these for our laundry room and thought a less expensive cabinet would be fine for this application. These are not well constructed. In our shipment we had 3 damaged/defective cabinets out of the 8 purchased. Home Depot did offer an adjustment on 2 of the cabinets and the manufacturer is replacing the defective doors.
