I am remodeling a small kitchen and decided to use off the shelf cabinets to save some cash. There are a lot of things with these cabinets that could be better. But I would say that the value is still good compared to custom cabinets AND THEIR COST. Pros: Inexpensive and easy and fast to get. Cons: Cabinets are particle board as you would expect. Just particle board glued and stapled to particle board. Nothing to keep them square at the top of the base cabinets. Most of them had something which must be glue all over them. This could only be removed with acetone or something strong. Not a big deal until you have about 13 of these to do. Several came with some kind of black oily substance on them. One came with no shelving holes drilled inside. Some came with no door bumper pads. Some came with screws that were half the size of what I consider proper for holding the heavy doors on. The vertical stiles on the face were a soft hardwood like alder which was good but the cross pieces on the face frame are plywood with a plastic coating which are not flush with the vertical stiles. The filler pieces are also plywood with a plastic coating. The plastic coating makes the plywood warp and it makes it very difficult to keep these pieces flush with the face frame when screwing these together. The ball bearing glides are nice but probably only rated for about 25 lbs weight. They are shipped or come in a cardboard type of container with no protection and some of them have abrasion that effects the corners and some are actually damaged from being set down too hard I would imagine. Other Things: I did another project last summer and used the off the shelf cabinets of a competitor and there were shortcomings there so I decided to try the Home Depot cabinets this time. I would say all in all the Home Depot cabs were a little better even with all of the short comings. Balanced against the pros mentioned above I would still recommend these cabinets. The price for custom cabinets is out of this world.

It took a long time for the cabinets to arrive - about 5 days after they said to expect them, but I was not in a rush (Ordered Jan. 23, arrived Feb. 22.) I did expect a bit more wood - this is particle board and there were no hanging rails. But they were in good shape and we were able to hang them fine once we made our own hanging boards. One of the doors is hung a bit lower than the others. They look good in my kitchen, though and that is what really matters. I hung one above the other to make a pantry in a small kitchen. I added the toe board, crown and a little sturdy belt in between them so they meet the height of my other wall cabinets.

A decent cabinet for the price. I thought they were painted white which is not the case for the box or filler strip, they are covered in a white laminate film. I ordered two of the 36 inch wide Hampton Bay cabinets and one came with a pretty good dent in the front corner. I was able to hide most of it by making it the top and covering 80% of it with crown molding. I had to use filler for the remaining damage. I would have asked for a replacement but I had the place apart and needed it done that day. In the future unwrap everything at Home Depot and inspect closely, not necessary for this damage, before you bring it home. I also purchased one 15 in wide cabinets and it was damaged the same way and I fixed it the same way. I really would have liked to return them both but I made them work. The filler stock also had the laminate bubbled on one end. If they had not damage it easily would have been 4 stars or more.

Just a good solid product, nothing great or fancy. Works fine in the laundry room, like the shaker style.

We expected a lower quality as these were not expensive but the workmanship is just shoddy. This cabinet was missing the drill holes on one side for the shelves. Another cabinet had the grey color installed on the side I stead of the white. This would not have been a problem except that side was exposed. And of course neither were easy to see in the garage when we unpacked them and did not notice until installed. The shelving you assemble was missing hardware. It is NOT a shipping issue as Home Depot keeps claiming...this is a piece of crap material with cracked and damaged boards. This damage was NOT from shipping as the boxers and packaging was perfect and secure. It appears the glue was too hot for the laminate and cracked and chipped it and you can see all the glue lines and there are chips in the pressed board that can be seen under the laminate. Literally the worst! Luckily my husband can fix a lot but of you didn't have the tools or know how, you would be sunk with crappy cabinets. Don't waste you money. Hampton Bay needs some serious quality control...not one item we purchased was without issue.

I'd only recommend this if you're choices are limited as mine were. I only need a single stand alone cabinet to place above a toilet . If I were to buy cabinets for an entire kitchen there's no way I'd go this route. there's no header to property mount to the wall; the rear panel is half inch particle board and the staples putting the thing together seem sloppily placed - proudly assembled in the US - it says - not sure about pride here.

The cabinets are reasonably priced and in my opinion a great value! They are beautiful and the installation instructions were easy to follow. The company was great to deal with as well - one of the corners of the cabinets was slightly damaged during shipment and I had a replacement door within days! Highly recommend these cabinets - they completely transformed my laundry room!

I bought these cabinets for my bathroom. While they were roomy and fit the space well, the factory paint job on them was awful. They had bubbles all over them. I promptly ordered another set to replace them. The second set had the same problem, just less bubbles. Disappointing for $170.00 each.
