I bought 3 of these fans for an outdoor patio area. I had one professionally installed and installed two myself. Had to buy the separate bracket to use between joists as the existing in-ceiling light cans/brackets were not made for fans. I also bought separate ceiling hole covers so I did not have to be so careful about removing the existing light fixtures. (e.g. they cover the holes in the ceiling). I bought a smaller 6" one for the professional install, but putting the cannister/cover on provided challenging for the installer, so I bought 16" ones for the fans I installed.
Removing the existing in-ceiling light cans was the most difficult part of the job. Installing the new brackets was easy and hanging the new fans was easy. I did purchase a separate 12" fan extensions and I have a 10 foot ceiling (so I had plenty of working room). Having the fan hang lower assists in ease of assembly vs having it tight/close to the ceiling. Also in my case with high ceilings it helps with airflow.
I purchased this unit with the intent of using the pull chains since the majority of the time the lights would not be used and the fan would be set to the same speed on all three units. This simplifies the assembly a little as compared to the units that have an internal transmitter for a remove (which I have also installed in two interior rooms). If you want/need remote capability, this fan is not for you. Find other models that support remote control.
I LOVE the blade assembly on these fans and the attachment process. The fan blades have pre-drilled holes in them and the brackets have pre-attached screw heads with rubber mounts and clips that the blades go into. Pushing the blades in and securing with the clips is so much easier than trying to attach the blades using bolts to each bracket while standing on a ladder.
Overall installation was straight-forward. The instructions were good and I used them for the first install. The included light bulb (LED) works for my needs, although a higher lumen (wattage equivalent) one may be needed for your installation.
I've now installed 4 Hampton Bay ceiling fans and one still had the old method of attaching the fan blade. They need to move to all their fans using the same attachment process.
The fans are made to support being outdoors. There is one step where a rubber gasket needs to be inserted in the fan light enclosure to prevent water from entering. I did not have to worry about that for my installation.

My electrician installed the fan in 1/2 hour. It was theoretically too big for my bedroom, but I love the size of the blades. The fan provides a nice draft. The light is nice and bright without being blinding.

Had the fan for a few weeks now, I live in South Florida and this fan makes being outside on the porch comfortable even with the high humidity. Price was by far the least expensive for the amount of air it moves. It is quiet and is well balanced, no wobble. The Led lights provide adequate light. Assembly was easy, especially like the fan blade attachment system that affixes the blades to the support arms without the need of any tools. The only complaint is the instructions on wiring the fan with light assembly are wrong and must be referring to an older version of the fan. When I called tech support on May 27th (before I figured it out myself) for clarity, they could not give me any information and stated that someone would call me back within 48 hours, (not very convenient). Seven days later on June 3rd I received an email stating the manufacturer would be contacting me in “24-48 business hours”. That never happened. So that's the reason for the 4 stars.
