The package does not say it can’t go in hugger fans, but it doesn’t instruct how. It just has down-rod canopy installation instructions, so I installed it in a fairly new Home Decorators fan with a down-rod.
Directions and installation were straight-forward. Canopy brackets basically have a slot for the receiver to slide into. Just need to tuck the wires up in the box above it and around it.
The receiver connects to one hot wire, neutral and ground, so if you have separate wall switches for fan and light, connect the receiver to only one of those wires and keep that switch on at all times. The wire from the other switch gets capped off and tucked unconnected, so its wall switch will be disabled. Then the remote controls everything.
Ensure the code switches in receiver and remote match and set the O/D switch in the remote for the type of light bulbs being used. They say D is for incandescent and O for everything else, but really D is for dimmable and O is for non-dimmable bulbs. O disables the dimmer. Some LED and CFL bulbs are dimmable now, so can keep it on D for them.
This remote has a lot of features- comfort breeze which changes fan speed intermittently to feel like a natural breeze, a brief delay off, 3 auto-off timers, dimmer and fan speed adjustments. Read the remote operation instructions because there are several special ways to enable and disable features like long presses that you will not know otherwise. The remote buttons are hard plastic and have good feedback. It feels solid.
There’s no wall bracket but can just use a hook & loop tab on the back and wherever you want to secure it near where you use it, like an end table. It’s dumb to store a remote on the wall as the whole point of a remote is to have control from wherever you sit or sleep! And the delay off helps because you can turn it off from the bed/chair and it will wait a bit to actually turn off so you can still exit the room in light. If your bulbs are dimmable, the delay off dims the light so you know its engaged.
It’s working great! I recommend this model.
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Functional, High Quality of Material, Lots of Features, Stylish, Well Made
