If you're handy, have a few simple hand-tools and like DIY projects, then this might just be the thing for you. For the price, it's a pretty good deal. Everything is well-labeled and the stickers are easy to remove. It took me at least 2-3 hours to assemble, but I am a construction professional and was doing a quality job, not rushing. I like the nickel pulls; they are simple and stylish. The rails on the other hand are a NIGHTMARE! The instructions do not mention how to install these, but you have the to remove the half which attaches to the cabinet from the half which attaches to the drawer using the plastic release, slide it to the side/in the open position, and THEN you will have all the clearance you need to drive the screws. I recommend using hand-tools only for this, as it is fully constructed out of fiberboard, so if you strip you'll have to fill the hole, drill it, and try your luck next time. The only thing I would use a power-drill/driver/impact for is the back cover, or to start all the screws -then hand-tighten. When re-inserting the rail into the guide however, you have to be very slow and careful, otherwise your ball bearings will pop out and you'll be stuck with the mess that I had. I'm glad I was able to put these all back in and make it work though (but you can certainly imagine the frustration involved). The dowels WILL need wood glue to fit tight ans stay strong. I wouldn't assemble it without glue and don't know why the manufacturer left out this important detail. Installing the rails are a real pain; they use what appears to be some type of sticky, greasy cosmoline lubricant/protectant; because of this, it will need to be wiped off with some cleaner/soap/etc once fully assembled. Thankfully the finish allows it to be easily cleaned. Once assembled though, this cabinet is sturdy, looks alright (for a finish carpenter it may look unsightly), and rolls fine, since it has rubber o-rings on the wheels.

Hampton bay elite three drawer base unit in espresso color is a build your own furniture piece. The hardware needed to construct is all included. Minimal hand tools needed. The wood is quality covered and is sturdy except for the drawer bottoms which are just strong multi layered cardboard colored to match. The problem lays with the track system for the two lower drawers. The rail glides can easily jump the stops in the track and blow apart. These glides are razor sharp so be very careful handling them. Inserting the drawers into the guides is difficult. You have to use steady straight equal pressure to set the drawers in the tracks. Once the drawers are set they glide very easily. The design and preconstruction are done well. Unit aligned and squared well. If it weren’t for the tracks I would have rated this piece a five.

This 3-Drawer Base Unit was rather complicated to put together. Each piece and each bag were clearly marked. The instructions were OK but could have used more up-close pictures to avoid confusion. This is the first time I’ve ever broken a cam – truly, I’m not very strong. I was disappointed that, despite all the careful boxing, most pieces had small scratches on them. The drawers lined up and spaced easily. The bottom two drawers are quite deep and could hold a lot. Since I’m using it for thread storage, there’s a lot of wasted space but it’s nice to have the thread in a closed unit. The handles give it a stylish look. It is constructed from CARB-Compliant, laminated composite woods with a MDF backer. The finish is an espresso Melamine. It’s 18.62 in from front to back, 35.98 in high and 23.98 in wide. Each drawer can hold up to 15 pounds. There are so many uses for this to add extra storage. I’m really pleased with the finished product. You can’t expect fine furniture at this price so I still recommend it for good storage.

The Hampton Bay Select 3-drawer base unit in espresso is an easy to assemble free-standing cabinet. All three drawers, especially the bottom two, are quite deep to accommodate varying storage needs - just make sure to follow manufacturers recommended weight capacity for the drawers. I like the satin nickel pulls, which lend a more modern aesthetic to the drawer base. I did receive pieces that were chipped to the core and couldn't be camouflaged; two of the feet grips were missing as well. If I had paid for the item, I would have returned the item for this issue.

I would recommend this 3 Drawer Base unit in Espresso color. Over all for the price it is a nice drawer. 3 Drawers gives you lots of room. You could use this for so many options through out your home. I put this one next to my child's bed and I think it works great there. The Espresso color is very rich and looks great. The instructions could be clearer, I had problems figuring out some areas and it took longer then I would have thought to put together.

I am very disappointed in this product. I purchased the exact item a couple of months ago and was quite satisfied particularly because of the price. I ordered 2 but the order was messed up and I only received one. When I tried to order the second one, I was informed they weren't available any longer but I would be notified when and if they came back in stock. The original one I bought was sturdy and blemish free. The biggest problem was the drawer glides. I called the number in the instruction booklet and was assured by a very helpful young lady that I would receive my replacement parts. Three months later and nothing even after leaving phone messages. Still, it suited my purposes. The item was back in stock recently so I ordered the second one. This unit was chipped in various spots and dented and chipped in 3 places on the fron left side of the unit. However, I didn't notice the damage until I was assembling and had already disposed of the packaging. Since this is in a secondary bedroom, I decided I could live with the damage. The biggest problem I have is again with the drawer glides. That don't glide. The ball bearing bracket that's supposed to provide the "glide" keeps popping out and spewing ball bearings all over the place when I try to close the drawers. This did NOT happen with the first unit. At this point, I'm going to buy new glides that will fit the drawers as I have no faith in the "help" line. The worst part is that the second unit was no longer on sale and I paid twice as much than the first unit for half as much quality. Something that's being sold for close to $200 shouldn't have so many problems.

Not sturdy

Too difficult to build. Particle board comes apart I bought to put in my office for storage. I would not even put this in my garage. I have purchased many products with great satisfaction in the past. This is not one of them. Just purchased 2 stand up freezers with my son. Bought a zero turn lawn mower from you.

It works ok for the extra bedroom dresser. I had to adjust the drawer rollers so they wouldn't catch when trying to open or close the upper drawer. I would not buy this for every day use.

I would give it 0 stars if I could! It looks good in the photos but it is the poorest quality cabinet I’ve ever purchased. Drawer slides are rough and break easily. Top drawer was made an 1/8th of an inch to wide to work properly! Press board cracks and breaks if you sneeze on it. I got a great deal on this product but had to spend the savings buying material to reinforce and/or rebuild drawers and replace all drawer slides. My advice, build it yourself or spend the money to buy a better quality cabinet. Don’t buy this one!!!!!!

The only problem putting the cabinet together was that the predrilled holes didnt match up with the screws and dowels on one draw.

Wish the top drawers used the same slides as the bottom two. Top drawer doesn’t move as easy.

Installing rail hardware is a little tricky. Need to disassemble to screw in one of three screws. Instructions not clear.

Ok quality, but one of the drawers had the holes drilled in the wrong location. I had to drill new holes to get it to fit properly.

Inferior drawer slides that had to be replaced. Unhappily we couldn’t have company replace part but had to send the whole thing back after we had put it all together. Once together it is OK and looks good. Fortunately Home Depot Online came to our rescue and provided superior drawer slides.

It was very easy to put together, it looks very nice. However 3 of them came either broken on some corners, or damaged overall. It is a very sensitive material. I kept them because I needed them.

The particle board that you call MDF, splits easily and does not hold the screws well. Not impressed! Previous cabinets that were stocked in your stores were of much superior quality.

Nothing worked right

I did not like the quality of it. You get what you pay for but it is wood and particle board.

The unit fit perfectly in my closet.

First unit had incorrect piece. They could not send a replacement piece, so they sent an entirely new unit. Between the two sets I was able to build one and had to return the remaining pieces tot eh store (so they can put it in a dumpster?) One of the rails wasn't good and all the ball bearings popped out (glad I had the second box). The top drawer rails are too snug and rub. This isn't great craftsmanship, but it fit my needs for fitting into my sons closet and it wasn't very expensive at the time (on sale for $90)

Big Drawer , not wood and take long time to put together.

Unfortunately, very difficult to assemble and hardware components shattered. Resorted to using nail gun to assemble.

It deserves "made in China" sticker.Missing hardware, cam lock screws are made from cheap material and crumble in to pieces when you lock them. Wood finish has a lot of impurities. Wooden dowels don't fit the holes.Hampton Bay was used to better quality.

Very difficult to assemble especially the drawers. Bought it online. If I had seen it in the store first I would not have purchased them only to return them several days later.
