Bought five of these fans for the house we purchased recently. I had an electrician install the fans so I can't comment on the level of difficulty in installing them. He did not complain and had five of them installed in about four hours. The fans look good and work good. The remote works well. I had to label the remote for each room. In our previous home, we had two remotes for each fan that were from a different manufacturer. One on the wall that occupied the same place as a normal wall switch. It had all the same functions as the handheld remote including fan speed and light settings. That was nice so we did not have to look for the remote in the dark. Those fans cost us twice of what we paid for these fans. I do recommend these fans.

good for fan control won't work with wink
the fan controller installed like any other and works with the remote. pairing to wink is a whole different story. I couldn't pair from the beginning. so ok no problem.l, let's reset it. followed instructions on 3 secs off 3 secs x5 (even tried 8x like the app suggests) nothing. no pairing mode

The remote requires the Wink Hub to operate using the app. If you have the Hub, we would suggest resetting the hub and making sure the hub is within the recommended distance to the fan. Also, make sure the white WINK antennae is located outside of the canopy. When paring with the Wink system, make sure you are choosing the Hampton Bay fan and not the Home Decorators Collection option. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-434-2678 and one of the team members will be able to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Installation was a bit difficult but that was to be expected. However the unit did not have a proper integration to Smart Things and would lock up occasionally to the point where I would have to cut power to reboot it. It also would not send out reliable status updates when the fan or light was turned on. Also the lack of detailed pairing instructions coupled with the difficulty to successfully get the device into paring mode is my biggest complaint next to the limited support with other ZigBee automation controllers. In the future I would recommend sticking with a pair of traditional wall modules for a more reliable setup, such as the GE ZigBee series modules. The only reason i gave it a star is that the remote works as promised unless the module has locked up. The remote should come with a wall mounting bracket and does not.

Fingers crossed that these latest two replacement Hampton Bay Universal Wink Fan Controllers work. So far so good after about 10 days. The first two had issues atthe highest fan speeds - they stopped working after a day and only the lower speeds worked. Doesn't appear to be an issue with the fan as they are working fine now as well as a third controller that never had an issue.

I really want these to work. And when they did work they were great products and easily paired with my wink hub. Problem is 2 out of 3 the light stopped turning on all together while the fan controls work. First one stopped working the first night and second one stopped working a week later. I'll look for another unit that unfortunately will not have wink support.
