We ordered three fans that used this type of remote. Two of the three work great. The third one is "iffy" and problematic. Have changed the batteries...and still requires multiple presses to get it to turn on, etc. Do not know for sure whether it's defective or not.

We apologize for any confusion regarding the remote. As stated in the product description "The Wink Hub (sold separately) is required to take full advantage of the functionality" and "Wink hub (sold separately) required for Wink app functionality". The remote will operate as a standard remote without the hub.

This fan remote works great for controlling the fan/light from the remote. It also has a zigbee interface that will allow you to control it from your smart home if you have a hub that supports zigbee, (I am using Hubitat). The smart home control works fine, once you get it paired. The range for the zigbee is not huge, so you will likely need a zigbee extender; I used a zigbee outlet. Also you will need to make sure the zigbee antenna sticks out between the cover and the ceiling if it is metal (like most). This looks a little unsightly, but that was the only way I could get it to work.

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is ""Sorry to hear that you had this issue with the remote. If excess wires are preventing the receiver from fitting in the canopy, we would suggest trimming the fan wires so that the receiver and wiring fits in the canopy."

I bought three of these fans and they're apparently all on the same frequency because they turn off lights in the other room even when aimed directly at the unit they’re supposed to control. Additionally they often take several clicks to turn on or off. Regret buying and wouldn’t buy again.

Sorry to hear that you are having this issue. As with most ceiling fan remote controls, there are dip switches in the battery compartment and the receiver that can be set to change the frequency of the remote so that one remote only controls one fan. This is covered in detail in the installation video on the product page online (located with the alternate images, fast forward to the 4:06 mark). To avoid this issue, change the dip switch settings in each pair of remote and receiver. The dip switches can be set to any combination of up or down as long as the settings in the remote and receiver match. Set each pair to a different setting to avoid one remote controlling multiple fans. Zigbee control of the fan through SmartThings works well. Most of the time I use Alexa to control the fan. The included remote control however is not very good. All the buttons are the same shape so it is almost impossible to hit the right button in the dark. The power button on the remote is not documented well in the instructions. If everything is off then the power button turns the light and fan on. If the fan is already on then it turns the fan off. If the light is on then it turns the fan on. If light and fan are on then it turns both off. Also how to reverse the fan direction is not documented in the instructions. You actually can reverse the fan direction with the remote by holding the fan speed button on the remote. If reverse doesn't work try turning the fan off with the power button then hold the fan speed button.

Easy install and connected to Wink without any issues. Giving a fair rating due to the dimmer flickering the lights when on any lower setting than max, this should not be happening considering the dimmer is rated for led lights (included with the fan). Also, compatibility with Alexa is limited.

Sorry to hear that you are having the issue with the LED lights flickering. Please replace the bulbs with dimmable LED bulbs. Not all LED bulbs are dimmable and using non dimmable bulbs is that main reason for lights flickering when using the dimming feature. If the problem persists, please call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-434-2678 and one of the team members will be able to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

I haven't got the wink Hub yet. I'm not sure I want to use it for my phone anyway. But rest of it works fantastic. I'm completely puzzled I guess nothing 2 amazing these days but was only one power or hot wire going to the fan motor they are able to do 5 speeds.
