Cheap plastic sconces that required you to bend the...
Cheap plastic sconces that required you to bend the bulb holder so it didn't touch it and melt. It comes pre fit with electrical ends to match modern fans. The problem is they didn't give enough wire to fit the ends through the existing holes. Had to cut the wrap and force the fittings through my fans base. And DONT think you can just take your old one off and fit this to it-- the bases might be different like my hampton is. You will need to take apart your old light to use its cover as the attaching part.

We're sorry to hear that you had this issue. As with most universal ceiling fan light kits, the light kit requires the existing fan to have a blank with cap in order for it to attach to the fan. In some cases, the fan includes a separate switch cap (typically fans with 3 or 4 lights) or in the case of bowl style light kits, the switch cap can be removed from the existing light kit. As stated in the product description, the shades are shatter resistant plastic. The shades are designed to mimic frosted glass with the added benefit of not breaking if dropped during installation or cleaning.

Exactly what I needed. Easy to install- my kids helped me. The bulbs that were included (60 wat) were too bright for my needs so I replaced them with 40 watts. Very pleased!

This worked out perfectly! I wasn't able to find the color I needed for my existing fan. The one that I did find only had three lights and would not fit on the fan. This one fit perfectly and the color was close enough to not matter. Lots of bright light in the room now, love it!

While this works well and gives off a lot of light, I purchased it because the picture on the website was the antique brass finish, to match my ceiling fan. It actually came with a brush nickel finish, which I did not see in the description on the website. Be careful when ordering. Home Depot should correct this on it’s site.

The cap is smaller than the current HB Ceiling Fan Light kit.
Also you can only use led light bulb up to 9w, which is kinda of strange and counter the point of buy a four-light kit.

We're sorry to hear that you had an issue with the light kit. The light kit is designed to utilize the fan's existing switch cap to attach to the fan. You can see how the light kit is installed by watching the installation video located with the alternate images on the product page. Each socket of the light kit is rated for 40-watts maximum power, so higher wattage equivalent LED bulbs can be used.

The website did not match what was sent to me....
The website did not match what was sent to me. I needed brush brass and got nickel. One service member in lighting assured me another light fixture would work. It did not fit correctly. End result is the lighting unit was discontinued after calling the manufacture

Good light kit for the money. Bought 2 more. Has plastic globes, nice from a weight perspective, and they just look like frosted glass. Could replace plastic globes with glass; you'd need to drill and tap holes for the retaining screws; plastic globes twist fit into dimples.

We're sorry to hear that the light kit does not work with your fan. In general, the light kit requires the fan to have a blank switch cap that attaches to the fan using screws around the edges of the switch cap as shown in the installation video. If you fan does not have that piece, the light kit will not be compatible.

I bought this universal light convertion kit for a fan...
I bought this universal light convertion kit for a fan in my new home. I liked the easy directions which essentially was to connect a white wire in the fan to the white in the light kit and connect a blue wire in the fan to the blue in the light kit.
The problem is the bue in the fan did not have anything in common with the electrical cicuit thus no light.
I called up HD-Hampton bay.the customer service was friendly but no help. Thus I will return the light kit.
Side note I belive if I would have tapped into the black wire in the fan with the blue in the light kit it shouldhave worked, but the HD service agent told me "do not do that"!0

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we're sorry to hear that you had this issue with the fan. If your fan did not have the proper wiring, then it is best to not alter the fan wiring to connect the light kit. If your fan had a blue wire for light kit connection, the connection should have been straight forward as shown in the installation video on the product page. The only other issue might have been that the blue wire from the fan was not connected to a power source from the house.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we're sorry to hear that you had this experience. The light kit is compatible with most light kit adaptable fans. The light kit utilizes the fan's existing switch cap to attach to the fan as shown in the installation video on the product page online (located with the alternate images). There are a few exceptions such as fans with integrated light kits or fans that are not light kit adaptable. As mentioned in the product overview, the light does include shatter resistant plastic shades. these shades are designed to mimic frosted glass with the added benefit of not breaking if dropped during installation or cleaning.
