Provides needed light to shed without electricity. Allows hot air in shed to escape and extend shingle life.

Probably good for venting my shed, but way too inadequate at providing light in the shed. Also, the product is made of plastic and probably should only cost $10.00 instead of the $57.00 I paid!

This product is easy to install and provides light and air as promised. The issue is what it is made of. Even in the north, this product cracked out large chunks of itself in just 3 years and now has to be replaced. I would have preferred to pay even 3 times as much for a product that would have lasted longer. I now need to source out a replacement for a specialized size and do the installation all over again.

Great vent and easy to use. Actual venting ability is limited but works for small garden shed. only draw back appear to be for larger roof than small garden shed there for asking for vent to be very low on roof.

The 9"x9" opening for the skylight is enough to provide ample lighting for a small shed 4x8 to 6x12. The plastic skylight is vented although I use a wire screen below it in case some small animal gnaws through the plastic venting. Installation is simple.

While the other review contained some valid truths, I think the writer was being hasty and cautious. These skylight vents are just fine and seem to serve the purpose intended. While they are simple in design, they seem to be made of a rubberized material that should hold up just fine to the weather for the next several years. They are not made of glass. They don't say that they are! I purchased 2 for my little sheds venting/lighting needs, and they installed very easily. I looked for something like this product and found nothing similar. They were priced a little high even on sale, but the product is unique. I am cool with them...

You get what you pay for - this will be returned. Not impressed at all. Very cheaply made. Size much smaller than advertised. Looks like it will easily crack in the hot sun and not hold up. The installers said the few they have installed have had to be replaced due to the sun cracking them and while they would install them if we insisted, we took their advice and declined.

I purchased two of these with a 10x12 Handy Home shed kit. They came with a one page installation guide that had a cryptic drawing of where to place the skylights. These skylights are made of a ligtweight semi-rigid translucent plastic material, which I hope has some resistance to UV radiation, as the Florida sun is going to give them a real beating. The design looks ok; there is molded grillwork to keep large insects and vermin from entering through the vent and the upper edge of the vent has a V shape to deflect water running down the roof. It was easy to install, but, according to the guide, it can't be installed closer than 24 inches to the peak, which does not provide maximum ventilation. Once installed it does provide a soft ambient light in daytime. I installed mine on the half of the roof that supports the back wall, reasoning that once the door was opened, the door opening would allow daylight in tront half. I can't be sure of how much ventilation cooling results--but it would be hard to install a more efficient proven passive system, such as a ridge and eave vent, and a turbine vent would simply be to ugly and obtrusive. However, if the shed may be used as a workshop or potting shed, a window and ridge vent would probably be a better alternative.
