Alright folks. This review has been a long time coming!
My husband and I are homeowners who took on a 50% contractor and 50% DIY kitchen remodel. The contractor did the demo and the wall builds, we did the cabinets, countertop, installations, painting, etc.
Price context: For 8 cabinets we were getting custom quotes of about $7000 from local stores and it was beyond our budget. We were able to get 8 cabinets, the panels, and toe kick from this collection for about $4000 (we got them during a pre-Black Friday sale).
TLDR: We have two pieces of advice. 1) If you live near a store, have everything delivered there so you can immediately return/replace it. 2 of our 8 cabinets arrived severely damaged, while a few of the others had minor nicks or scuffs that we couldn’t be bothered to replace. 2) Give yourself plenty of lead time for said returns/replacements (each order took about 2-3 weeks).
For example, we returned 1 cabinet on the day we picked up the whole set (Dec 1). Three weeks later we got that replacement (Dec 21). Just before that one arrived, while we were installing the other cabinets, we realized that one of the cabinets we thought was fine had actually been dropped on a corner somewhere in shipping and it got totally knocked out of plumb and split the frame. So we drove back to the store (Dec 15) to get that replaced. When that one did arrive (Dec 28), it definitely wasn’t perfect but I couldn’t wait an additional 2-3 weeks. These delays took up considerable amounts of time and increased the overall cost of our project.
Panels: The end panels aren’t great. Lots of them arrived nicked or slightly warped. We got two end panels and two big panels for the fridge box. Not impressed for what they cost.
Hardware: The hardware seems pretty decent. Nice soft close. However, the hardware wasn’t pre-drilled by the manufacturer, so there are some places where the wood has split as a result.
Would we do this again? Likely not, but we would be equipped with better information to make it less stressful. We live in an area where the closest beloved Swedish furniture supplier (y’all know what I’m talking about) is over three hours away, so this felt like our only affordable option.
