We were about to spend $350 on four room-darkening shades for our bedroom from Select Blinds when we decided to quickly check out Home Depot online. Found these blinds and were shocked by the lower price and the great reviews. Ended up buying four sets of these and spending $150 less than planned. The delivery took one week, the quality is excellent and they look great! They also do an excellent job making the room dark and providing thermal insulation in a very sunny room. Would definitely recommend. Only drawback was that one of the boxes got torn open at the end during shipping and showed up without the hardware box. Fortunately, the extra hardware that came with the other three sets more than made up for the loss and we were able to hang all of these easily. Took less than 30 minutes to hang them all with a power drill, tape measure, and pencil.

We bought these for our master bedroom in our old house and loved them, so we just ordered them for our new house. I wish they came in more lengths so that we could have used them everywhere! These function perfectly over time as well!

Very easy to assemble. The color is perfect and it fits wonderfully to block out light.

Easy to install. Nice color. Bottom bar is thicker than the top. Wish they were the same size. Darkens room. Light does come in around the outer edges.

I installed two of these blinds in about 5 minutes each. The brackets are the "clip in" style I've seen multiple times so there was no learning curve. We got the room darkening version and they work well with minimal light bleeding around the side. I could have got rid of most of that by installing the blinds closer to the window.

Others have commented that some of the cellular sections are fuzzy, torn, or ragged at one end. The problem is that the process used to cut the blind to size has the effect of "welding" (for want of a better word) together the adjacent sides of many of the cells at the position where the cut is made. Although the blinds are not torn when they are received they will quickly become damaged when the customer opens them. (The photo shows where the edges of adjacent cells stick together.) As I started to pull the blind down for the first time I happened to be looking at the end with the welded cells and saw the ends of a couple of cells start to tear apart from the adjacent cell instead of opening cleanly. I dismounted the blind and tipped it up on the good end. Then I used a sharp utility knife to carefully open all of the stuck-together cell-wall edges, of which there were many. It took about 25 minutes. After I had remounted it I found a few more that I had missed. The blinds are a reasonable value and suited to purpose but I can recommend them only for those who are willing to do the work required to avoid damaging them upon first use.

Yes, the installation was tedious with trying to clip in the blinds to the brackets, but I think that for the price and wide range of sizes it was well worth it for us to buy this for our baby's room. There is no light coming though - maybe the tiniest bit on the side - and it was cloudy when I took the pic. We did not put the bottom brackets on to keep it secure at the bottom because our old windows have a handle that sticks out pretty far on the window on the bottom.

Very pleased with my window shades !

The shades are easy to install. They pull down easy and lift easily. The only thing I'd like to have with these is a center pull piece (like a plastic clip that clips in the middle at the bottom to make it easier to pull down). I have some with that and it does help. Other than that, they are great shades.

I'm rating this item 4 stars, because the quality is good, not great, but I think overall for the price these are a great value for cordless, blackout shades that are available in such a variety of sizes without being a custom order. They are plastic and the tops and bottoms look plastic. The shades function smoothly, they stay where you pull them, and they block out the light as well as one can expect from blackout shades allowing light in only at the edges. I mounted them inside the windows, and they were very simple to install.

Compared to custom orders placed and/or trimmed in-store, this blind is a great deal. Easy to install, cut exactly the length ordered, and completely blocks the sun – no glow from sunlight coming through the materiel. Be aware, however, that there will be some light leakage around the edges but that is not the fault of the shade. Came shipped in a long (mine was over 90”) carton with a small box with brackets, screws, and instructions. To measure for my INSIDE MOUNT, for a large over-bathtub window, I found it handy to use a pair of yardsticks with a (paper or glue) clamp. Put one yard stick to touch the left side and the other to the right; clamp them together in the middle. You now have a "stick" the width of your new shade. Then raise the "stick" up and down (like you would a window shade) to verify that the window casing is parallel and the blind will fit top to bottom. Leave just a little room side-to-side (maybe 1/4" or less; the more space you leave, the more light will come in the sides). Then measure the stick with a tape measure - voila! - that is the "actual size" shade width to order. You don't need to use the included end caps (which add 3/8" total to "actual width") for an inside mount application.

I’m very pleased with this window shade. It was easy to install and fits perfectly. Easy to pull down and push up. No cords or buttons. Clean lines.

Ordered these shades online, without having the benefit of seeing them in the store but the reviews were good, price was great, free ship to our home so why not? I am so glad I did, these are excellent. I measured my opening like 10 times just to be sure I got it right since these are custom. I mounted them inside and my measurements were spot on because once I installed, they were a nice tight fit (if you want to block out light). I had a bank of 5 windows so I ordered one shade first, made sure it fit perfect and then ordered 4 more. All arrived in perfect condition, and were very easy to install. Took me about 15 minutes per shade? You get into a groove once you do one. I must say, prior reviews complained of rough edges on shade where they cut, tough installation, bad directions - I am a handy mom and had no issues with at all. I got the gray which matched our decor. Love these and very happy!

TOTAL BLACKOUT Alright!!!! Better than any blackout curtains or blinds we have bought before. Completely dark like a wall. We should have measured better. Tiny amout of light on edges due to our mis-measurements. They will custom cut them to your measurements in store. But still absolutely Happy with this purchase!!! Cordless is true and works well. Easy to install, just minutes. Good looking blinds, clean neat lines. Option to open partially is easy. Love the Cordless!!! Would recommend to anyone that likes total darkness! Pictures do not do this blind justice. Truly Blackout!!

Great, easy to install, but hard to remove.

Shades are trimmed to size in store so measure your window cut out beforehand. Not that bad to I stall once you do one or two. Blackout keep the sun out but one pull up and and you let the light in. No cords. I like them so much that bought fir other windows over a year later.

These Blackout shades are excellent! For years, I've had cardboard cut-outs in my windows to block out the morning light. These come in a large array of stock sizes (every 1/4" width) and three lengths. Significantly cheaper than custom order products, and any of the plethora of stock sizes is fully returnable at local store. Very impressed.

I ordered a Home Decorators white cellular blackout shade for a bathroom window. I am happy with my purchase. The shade blocks out light nicely, functions well and looks nice.

Shade works well and seems sturdy. However, I had bought a darker color for comparison as well and the darker color had more texture in the cellular material and just looked of higher quality. I went with the white because it matched my room better, but both the texture of the cellular shade and the white plastic makes it seem "visually" of lesser quality. Good price though compared to ordered blinds.

Very easy to install, the quality of the product is great! I wish home Depot employees could cut them and size them a little neater. One of the shades I bought has a jagged edge.

The delivery, quality, appearance and performance of these new cordless shades have met my expectations. Even prior to mounting new curtains, they look great as installed in the slide window of my new study.

Love them. All 9. Ordered them last month on line, which all were different sizes. Installed easily. They cut one the wrong size (too large), but I went to local HD and they cut it down. Cooling cabin down. Picture is of the 3 gable windows after I installed them-it also shows below, a larger window with the shade in the "up" position, and how great it looks.

I don't think you can beat $55 for a decent 48"x48" cellular shade. They're fairly effective as a blackout shade (especially if you add something to help with the sun peeking around the sides). And they do look nice. But... My biggest complaint: WHY NO HANDLES?! Seriously. The shades are nearly impossible to raise up without a handle when they're lowered all the way to the sill because you cannot get enough purchase on the lower rail in order to grab it and lift up -- unless, of course, you get them cut narrow enough that you can fit a finger between the lower rail and sill... which totally defeats the purpose of installing blackout shades. I asked a HD person about it and they said they specifically order them that way (it's a 50 cent part, for crying out loud). And I've been searching in vain for a handle. If anyone else figures out the handle issue, let me know. I'll update this review if I find something. Otherwise, I won't buy them again.
