I can't begin to describe how quick and easy it is to stain a deck with one of these. I did way over a thousand square feet in a bit over an hour. It's excellent on flat boards (and those that are less than flat) and covers well. Not bad on edges if you take a little care to make sure the curved edge of the pad is against whatever you don't want stained.
Only place it's not overly useful is down between boards and in deeper dings in the deck but it's a few seconds work to run a brush in the gaps. I will be stocking up on pads for next time I have to do the deck. Now if only someone would come out with a skinny one for doing the rails.
In short, if you are planning to spend a day or two staining your deck, spend 20 bucks on one of these and save 90% of your time, not to mention your knees. And it's even quicker to clean up than a brush.
Even Application, Easy to Apply, Easy Instructions, Good Coverage, Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, saves time
I used the Stain-Stick to paint my deck, which is roughly 20x20. It was a great non back aching experience with little mess. Having the paint directly in the applicator allowed for me to paint on windy days, not have a back ache the next morning, and cut down the time of a brush in half if i were to use a regular rolling brush or a paint brush. It was really easy to use and really easy clean up.

I have been staining my deck for years and have tried so many different methods - rag, brush, combination of both. This was a breeze. This took me no time at all. What usually takes me close to 4 hours took me 1 hour - I have two decks. So easy that I might start staining my deck twice a year now!!

Easy to assemble, easy to use. My sister and I stained my entire living room, dining room and hallway all by ourselves using this stain stick. Worked perfectly, made the job so easy and we finished within a couple of hours. Gave me exactly the look on my floor that I was looking for. Comes with an extra pad set that we did not even have to use. Perfect DIY tool. We had absolutely no problems with it at all. Plan to use it on my mom's floor also.
I have used the paint stick many times and love it, so I had high hopes for this too. However I feel they let me down. First unlike the paint stick the stain stick filler tube is loose and does not stay in a can of paint via the lid like the paint stick. So you either leave it in all the time or manually take it and get yours covered in stain. Second, once you are at the end of stain reserve the stick is very short and makes you hunch over as you work. This made my back very sore. Also I am not sure if I could put alot of pressure on it with out breaking. It does do a good of speeding things up by not having to go to the tray every couple passes. All-in-all a pretty good product but not near as good as the paintstick.

Right out of the box the pad lasted 30 seconds. The pad flipped off and I had to use wire ties to get it to stay in place. When you apply minimal pressure to re-wet pad, it sprays in multiple directions all over the place. Not worth the effort or time. Replacement pads are $9 bucks! Now how many roller covers can you buy for that and just toss afterwards?
