After 15 years of fighting hose clamps and hoses for our pool filter, I converted to hard pipe. These allow me to quickly and conveniently get the pump hooked up or tore down. I only recently purchased one because I had to replace a pool fixture it was connected to. I should've done this years ago

I have 3 of these 1” unions on a water line with 150’ of head pressure and a maxium of 60psi starting pessure. My current psi gauge at the end of this line maxes at 100psi, however; i have tested the pressure a few times and gotten 125-140psi. One of the unions is within a few feet of an elbow which hangs of a cliff a few feet in mid air which would cause back pressure/ force (a lot of force) to be put on the union when Dynamic/moving water pressure is present.. not one of the unions i have used has failed when properly installed, as well: i have a set at the base of a 250gal water tank that go from 0 to 40-50psi within seconds, its been 7 years and they still function as intended.. Thread tape has to be put on a specific way for it to work, if not all threads leak at high pressure.. SOOOOOOOO id have to guess that all the one star reviewers with blown apart unions either have bad luck or another unknow factor is at play: my guess is logically based give ive installed more than 30 unions and 0 failed. ......would u bet against 0-30 odds...or would u assume something else?

Unions make plumbing maintenance easier. Mine is used with a small under sink pump to allow it to be disconnected for maintenance should it become necessaaary or if replacement is needed.. These fittings thread together easily and feature a sealing o ring. While these coast more than some other fittings made of PVC, more effort goes into making them.

I recently installed (relocated) a well uptake and shallow well pump at my home. The original pipe was old poly vinyl tubing and not appropriate for the new location. Converting the new location to PVC pipe, I wanted to be able to easily disconnect the pump in case it needed servicing or replacing. The only way to make this possible when using glued PVC is to install a union as close as possible to either end of the uptake pipe. This was the perfect solution.

I needed to repair a sprinkler system water line in an area that was limited space. This union made the repair doable after figureing out how to complete the overall task.
