It would not connect to Zwave. After installing reinstalling, replacing battery (which was dead) I contacted the help desk. It was determined after a rather lengthy phone call that it was bad.. I was then told that since I installed it and was not a professional, I would have to call a professional and have them "install" it before they would replace it. It would cost more than the thermostat to pay a tech...so i didn't. I took it back off the wall, unsnapped the back piece and squeezed all the connections on the thermostat. When I reinstalled it, it worked. My guess is that it wasn't assembled correctly or a poor design. If it fails to work again, I will throw it away and purchase another brand. Honeywell should have sent me a new one after the phone call.

I am pleased with my new thermostat. I did have some issues with the install, but to no fault of the design of the T-stat. I was able to install quickly with the existing wiring from the old thermostat. I would definitely suggest turning off the power before uninstalling the old T-Stat and installing the new one. I ended up blowing a fuse in my furnace (in the attic in the summer.) That took some troubleshooting and I tried to call the Honeywell tech support, which was frustrating. The support is outsourced and they kept telling me there should be AA batteries but this T-Stat uses only a button battery. The touch screen is easy to use. I purchased the Samsung SmartThings Hub and downloaded the app to remotely access the thermostat and apply automation. So far I love the ability.

Six months after purchase this thermostat quit a-wave communication with my home hub. Followed directions to reconnect but nothing worked. I phoned Honeywell customer support who offered none. They stated I was required to call a local Honeywell servicing HVAC contractor to service the unit at my cost. Other programmable features work well but that is not why I purchased this thermostat.

I purchased this thermostat for the Z-Wave technology and have it synced with Front Point, my Home Monitoring Company. I confirmed with Front Point before purchasing that this was in fact compatible. Unfortunately after paying an electrician several hundred dollars to install 2 thermostats, I now find out from Front Point that this Honeywell product is NOT compatible with their control unit. So I call Honeywell directly to find out my options. After 55 minutes on the phone with multiple customer service reps, they tell me they don't know who is compatible and recommend I call a few security companies in my area to find out. I should have just kept the original two in place which didn't have z-wave but worked perfectly fine as a thermostat and saved $800 in equipment and electrician costs.

Hi JT, We would recommend speaking to Front Point about your control unit’s compatibility requirements. Knowing this, we will be able to better assist you in finding a Z-Wave thermostat that will work for you. You can shoot us an email with the requirements at HoneywellHome@honeywell.com and reference case number 00898926. Thank you. Honeywell

      Wire Saver
We wanted to automate the house, but the thermostat wire only had 4 wires. Most Wifi thermostats need a 5th wire to power the transmitter. This unit comes with a wire saver module than converts 4 to 5. The module Is installed at the HVAC unit. The C wire carries the power needed to power the thermostat. The K wire combines two functions into one wire, then separates it back into two at the HVAC unit.

        Works pretty much as expected
The thermostat is now working well but initially one of the daughter nodes was not reporting. It seemed to have corrected itself but will have to be watched. The Home Depot paper work did not include an invoice and there does not seem to be a direct way of getting one.

Controls work as advertised. I;m having a bit of trouble syncing and controlling through the Z-wave but I think that's more a function of the control app

A waste of time and money
I bought two of these units for an upstairs and downstairs unit of my house. An A/C technician installed both of them. The upstairs unit never worked. Apparently, the unit was located too far from the router and could not obtain connectivity. The second unit- located less than 30 feet from the router- worked for approximately one year, but suddenly stopped working. As this was connected through my security system, I first started with them. They looked at the unit and felt it was a Honeywell issue. I have now spent countless hours dealing with Honeywell's horrible customer service and ineffective technical support. It appears that my 'upgraded' Z wave system is useless and I now have an overpriced programmable thermostat.

        Great Thermostat!
Easy to install, very easy to program. Love the touch screen and the green glow it gives off. Bought this unit because of its z wave capabilities and the touch screen. Great unit!

Great T-Stat, Horrible customer service and Z-wave functions
I bought this as a replacement for my 14 year old 9000 series Honey stat that I have loved and worked flawlessly over the years. I purchased this specifically for the z-wave radio, to integrate into my home automation system, SmartThings. The thermostat itself is very simple to operate and while you do need the manual to setup the advanced features under the initial programming (all of the features are simply numbers, so you need to use the manual to identify the settings options), it works as expected and very similar to my previous 9000 stat. It does not have the option to add an outdoor temperature sensor as previous versions of the 9000 had, bummer. The stat has many options to allow for just about any kind of setup or model furnace/AC you can imagine. The display can be set to be always illuminated and gets brighter when you touch it- a nice feature to at-a-glance check settings and temp. The bad news.. the Z-wave radio is notorious for having stack communication issues. The unit links to the hub easily, but within a short time (in my case sometimes less than an hour), the message "communication lost" appears on the screen. I wish I had done more research on this model before I purchased it, because googling "Honeywell communication lost" brings up page after page of forums from a multitude of hub vendors about this very issue. I tried three different units (returning each one claiming a defect) and each and every one caused the exact same problem on not only Smart Things, but MiCasaVerde and also Wink (I have been experimenting with home automation so I have several different systems to play with). I did notice that the stat seems to work better in a zwave environment with very few devices. I believe the problem is with the stats ability to receive and pass zwave commands properly, and when it gets confused, it simply drops off the zwave grid. In order to reset the stat, you must physically remove it from the wall and then wait a few minutes and attach it again. Don't bother though, because you will only get the same problem to occur at some point very soon in the future. Obviously, this is a major deal breaker for this product, or why else would you even bother to purchase a Z-Wave enabled stat? Contacting Honeywell, that is an even bigger communication problem, as they couldn't care less about you unless you are a professional contractor. Fine, my neighbor (who also helped me install the stat) IS a licensed, professional HVAC contractor, and they gave him just as much of a run around as I did- reluctantly suggesting that it might not be compatible with z-wave systems unless they were Honeywell... so there you have it folks. Steer clear, your mileage may vary, but do yourself a favor and research this before going through the hassles of installing and wasting time trying to get this to work.

          It works.
Purchased to work with my Z Wave system even though it was not listed on the recommended and tested products with my system. It synced right up to the module which was two stories up. No complaints.

          Horrible Experience
Purchased this as a replacement to use with my Iris system. This was the second one I bought, as the first one was defective and would not come on. Then I received the replacement and the same thing happened again, nothing, dead as a door-nail. This was very frustrating especially because I know it was installed properly.

          Honeywell Z-Wave Programmable Thermostat
There are several Z-Wave and other smart thermostats on the market. However, since I have been standardizing on Z-Wave for home automation, I opted for Z-Wave as opposed WiFi capability. Also, given that my existing thermostats were Honeywell and that I was very satisfied with their operation I decided to stick with the known entity and industry leader. Despite the guidance from Honeywell that these units should be installed by a trained professional, the instructions provided, as well as those on the Internet were very clear and straight-forward. Fortunately, the thermostats I was replacing were Honeywell and used five wires also which made for a very swift and painless swap out without having to use the wire saver module. These units also paired with my Z-Wave home automation controller quite easily. I am very satisfied with their manual operation as well as via Z-Wave.

Product works great but I didn't know I was getting a used one.
I ordered this at full retail price thinking I was getting a brand new item. When I got it I found out that it had been previously installed. It had some minor scuffs and the backup battery was also dead so I had to replace it. I installed it and it has been functioning as expected but I just thought there would be a separate item for an open box at a discount. Other than that I am very happy with the product

            Works with home security system
I bought this product to work with my Vivint Sky home security system. It works seamlessly except Vivint didn't have the Emergency Heat setting. I can set my home temperature and schedule remotely from my smart phone or laptop except for that one setting. It was rather complicated to install and used all 5 wires to the heat pump (the previous Honeywell thermostat used only three of the 5 and included an outside temperature reading, which this one does not). I paid about $200 for the HVAC expert to install this z-wave thermostat.

            Z-Wave 7 Day Touchscreen Thermostat
The installation was too much for me to handle so I had to hire a technician to install it. The User guide is not very helpful. For example, it only identifies the battery as a coin cell battery and does not give the size. If I remove it to find out what to replace it with, will I lose all of my settings? Also, it took a while to figure out how to set or change the schedule. On the other hand, it was easy to identify the z-wave feature into my home security system. I have only had it for a few weeks, but so far so good

            A rock-solid programmable unit...plus Z-wave!
I wanted to upgrade our thermostat after installing a Z-wave home automation network, but didn't want to have to hassle with wi-fi, network security, & multiple control apps. Since our last thermostat was also a Honeywell programmable, this model seemed like the best solution. Installation was a 'no-brainer' (<15 mins) thanks to the included 'add-a-wire' device (a 'common' wire is required). Adding into our Z-wave network was also a snap and I LOVE the ability to remotely monitor or set the temperature while we are away from home (or even just upstairs). Have been running for 2+ months and this unit has performed flawlessly- I would not hesitate to recommend this unit.

Connet to the home automation system and help creating a smart house
I got this thermostat to connect it to my alarm/home automation system. Installation and integration to the Z-wave network was very easy. Schedule configuration with 4 options per day - Wake, Leave, Return and Night was very easy.Once integrated into the Z-Wave network, the Elk M1 alarm panel rules did the rest. We have created rules based on outside temperature and inside temperatures (both measured by the Elk M1 temperature probes), when to turn on and off the HVAC system. Since prices of energy went up in 20% or so in our area, we did NOT see an increase in our utility bill. Or in other words, we see 20% savings in our utility bill. In addition, when we leave the house for several days, we rise or lower the temperature (based on season), and few hours before we return to the house, we use the ELK M1 Z-Wave integration to set the thermostat to the pre defined settings, walking in to a comfortable dwelling, while saving on utility bills. If you need a thermostat with Z-Wave integration, I would highly recommend this thermostat.

USe currently with z-wave, works great
This is a pretty good thermostat. I had mine professionally installed because it is hooked up to a heat pump here in the south. Hooked up to z-wave you can manage high/low temperatures via a computer. You can set schedules with it also. You can download apps for smartphones and access the same features. If you don't have z-wave, you can still set high/low temperatures and schedules. It has four program modes and each mode allows you to program for each day. Wife loves it because we can change the temperature from our phone in bed! Great product and it is simple. There are fancier ones on the market but this is economical.

            Z wave connected quickly
This Zwave thermostat works good, it's fairly easy to program and adds to my Honeywell Tuxedo quickly. My only complaint is I wish the numbers on the screen were a little larger. My system designer told me the Honeywell Prestige WIFI controller (this is the one I wanted) would not work with my Tuxedo automation system. The Prestige is way more expensive then this controller so I didn't complain too much. I have HVAC 2 systems with 2 zones each and I can control each zone from anywhere I have smart phone access. I'm happy!
