We retired a 29 year old Kenmore that was still in working condition (but was far beyond its useful lifespan). We are very happy with this Hotpoint (made by GE). The unit took one hour to reach freezer temps and after running one night it is at 14 degrees F. The unit is a nice size. Not too big but plenty of room. I only have a few complaints. Our old unit had a textured finish which held up great to years of placing things on top of the freezer and camouflaging small dents that happened over the years. this unit is smooth and rather thin metal. The last issue I have is rather a big one for me when purchasing appliances. The unit was owned by GE at one time but they told to Haier and this came from China instead of made in the USA> I was under the impression this was made in Kentucky. I cannot fault the product rating as a result of that fact but I did want to mention it as it does go into people's decision criteria. Overall it is a good unit.

Pros Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design Cons not made in the usa

We are very pleased with our 9.4 Cubic foot freezer! We prefer the manual defrost as when we clean out the freezer, no product is left - just unplug and let melt and drain. The controls for this unit are located on the lower right side - not very convenient - but nice to have them recessed so they don't accidentally get changed. The freezer baskets are a nice touch to conveniently place items you want to access quickly. The pictures I've included are just after stocking the freezer with 1/4 beef - still plenty of room, would probably hold an entire beef or 2 hogs. Great fit and finish - I expect years of quality service from this product!

Pros Durable, Easy to Clean, Easy to Install, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, High Quality, Looks Great, Lots of Features, Nice Design, Sturdy, Stylish

We LOVE our new Hotpoint 9.4 cu. ft. Manual Defrost Chest Freezer. We waited quite a while to get it: we ordered it December 12th but didn't receive it until January 30th. It is a replacement for the GE 7.0 cu. ft. chest freezer we had to leave behind at our rental home in Arizona. This new freezer is quite an improvement over our older freezer. The extra 2.4 cu. ft. of space feels positively enormous and the LED interior light that comes on when the lid is opened makes everything inside easier to see. Estimated energy cost is only $27 per year, so it's more efficient than our old freezer. Although it is a manual defrost like our old freezer, the front drain connection makes defrosting comparitively easy.

After a very long wait for delivery, we are unable to get it to turn on. Returning a freezer is no fun.

Nice freezer, like the interior light and the visible status lights on outside. The included two baskets help keep things organized.

Good so far. I had it a few weeks. Turned it on and it was ice cold in 6-7 hours. The middle of the road setting is plenty cold to keep things like ice cream etc rock hard.
