I purchased this automatic tank drain because the local Home Depot didn't have the other manual tank drain. I installed this item onto a Craftsman 60 gallon air compressor. The reason for such a low rating is due to the fact that the cleaning valve (last ball valve on the unit) failed to seal after a little over a month of use. I took the valve out and cleaned both sides and noticed there is a lot of slop in the valve mechanism. I am unable to find a replacement valve.

This works great on all compressors of any size with a 1/4 NPT thread drain valve. It screws right into the bottom of the drain and all hardware to mount the valve and it's piping are included. The hardware is all steel and brass. No plastic brackets to snap off. The control head has a six foot power cord with two dial settings for tank drain and interval of draining. It also has a test button to drain on command. There is an on and off indicator light to indicate drain open or closed. You will set the drain to open on the time intervals you choose. You can have it open the drain every 30 seconds up to 45 minutes or any interval in between. You can set the drain open duration time from a half second to 10 seconds. Giving you total control of how often the drain opens and how long it stays open each time. Set it and forget it. There is a manual drain valve on this as well, so you can still drain the tank manually if you want or have to. The one draw back of the auto drain of course is that the water in the tank will freeze below 32 degrees. In winter you will need to use the manual drain valve located on the brass hardware they include. No big deal, but it's important you know that in freezing temps the auto drain may freeze shut on you, water freezes after all. I put this on my Husky stand up 33 gallon compressor and was done in under 30 minutes. So far it works well and I'd recommend it. No more bending over to drain the big tank, it does it all for me now.

I got this Husky automatic tank drain to install on a Husky 60 gallon air compressor that is used daily for air tools and lifts. This kit was very complete. Good instructions, easy to follow. The kit even came with a roll of Teflon tape. Everything included is 1/4 inch so I had to buy a reducer from my tank to the kit which was 1/2 inch. After that the install went seamless by following the instructions. Filled the compressor and plugged in the solenoid and it worked fine. Made some adjustments to the times and has been working great ever since.

I needed this automatic tank drain a long time ago. From the pictures you can see the brown slime from not draining my tank properly. Instructions were good and clear and everything needed to install it was included. It's all brass on the fittings and the electronic part seems to be good quality. I installed the automatic drain on my 60 gallon 6.5 HP electric compressor, ans set it to drain 4 seconds every 45 minutes. I really needed this auto drain to get my tank back in good working condition, I am terrible about remembering to drain the air tank, which should be done everyday that you use it. The one thing that surprised me was the way it works. I was expecting the unit to drain the tank completely at the end of the day, not so, and this makes great sense, the auto drain releases the water throughout the day as you use of the compressor by opening the valve for a few seconds , that you set, and it does this every .5 to 45 minutes, that you set. It really conforms to your compressor and your level of use. It is a great piece of equipment for my shop and I am very pleased with it.

Draining your air compressor tank is VERY important, but getting down below the tank to open the drain valve on a big tank leads to procrastination/water build-up, and rust. This product does it for you automatically. You can set the duration of draining and frequency (up to 45 minutes). Remove the old drain valve and connect this unit in its place. My compressor isn't charged and used every day. I have a switch inside the shop to energize the receptacle that the compressor is plugged into. I added a 3-plug power tap so the drain unit is only operating when the compressor is energized. This keeps from draining the air between uses. The unit has a test button for a manual test of the drain system. There is also a manual ball valve that can be opened to bypass the drain unit if you want to depressurize the tank manually.

I received my Husky automatic electronic tank drain today, It came well packed. I hooked this up to my compressor in about 30 minutes, you just remove the drain valve on the bottom of your compressor (after you drain all the air out of the tank) then install the stainless steel braided hose, then the valve ,bracket and drain hose and your done. You can plug this directly into a 120 volt receptible and set the time on from 1/2 second to 10 seconds (the time it will actually open the drain and expel the water) Then set the time off from 30 seconds to 45 minutes (this is the interval the drain will activate). You can also plug the automatic drain valve into a timer so that it will go on and off only when you want it to. I wired mine to the compressor switch so it comes on only when the compressor is turned on. This is a very easy to install and maintain compressor automatic drain, if it gets clogged up you just open the self cleaning valve and blow out the debris. .

I'm going to go ahead and give this Five Stars for its quality and operation. The instructions leave a lot to be desired, but are sufficient to get you started. I followed the instructions step by step, only to have to disassemble parts of it later in the assembly. Do not put the bracket on the valve until the last step. I had to find a good place to install the unit on my compressor, which necessitated removing the bracket several times. The "clear drain hose" should be removed from the brass connector, then screw in the brass connector to the valve. Otherwise, there isn't room, especially if the installation bracket is already installed as per the directions. After finally getting the tank drain valve where I wanted it on the compressor, the operation was very straightforward. Unscrew the caps, adjust the settings (I used 45 minutes between operation, and 1 second of actual draining). Works great!

Exce[llent device, takes care of a critical task many of us never perform. Suggest not using the flexible hose on the output

Went together really easily, I do wish the timer had a longer interval between cycles (45 minute max) but that’s not a big problem. My only complaint is I ended up having to buy clear tubing separately because I needed a slightly longer length for the discharge tube and the clear tube that came with the tank drain was sticky and worn.

Have only had it for a few weeks but it seems to be working just fine.

Worked as expected. Would be nice not to have elbow attached to flex hose. I had to install different with instructions because elbow was in the way of the bottom of the tank. I had to make a silencer tube for the drain as I couldn't get it out of the work space.

Since Home Depot sent me a used item I can not recommended this item.

Once the unit was installed it works good but I have to ask if the people that created the instructions actually assembled this product. Having been around shops and being a mechanic myself I finally tossed the directions and reverse engineered the whole mess and got it to work. Oh, and have a magnifying glass handy to see the pictures.

The bracket that came with it I couldn't use Had to install inline with pipe from compressor Been using foe about 2 weeks and seems to work fine

Everything about this item was great. Easy install. The only complaint is the price. I believe the price is a little expensive.

The maximum off time is 40 minutes. It should be up to hours.
