Customer Reviews for Husky 3/8 in. Drive Socket Rail

So --- why does Home Depot sell these socket rails with 10 socket clips and then sell socket sets that have 11 or 12 sockets? These rails are also kinda short at only 12" long and only were available in one color at the store - red. Other tool suppliers offer socket rails in different colors so it is easy to know at a glance which rail has your SAE or Metric sockets. Other than that, the lifetime warranty is nice to have, sockets are easy to attach/remove and these socket rails are reasonably inexpensive. If you just want a quick way to keep up to 10 sockets at a tool station or in your car, these will do the job. If you want to store your 200 different SAE & Metric regular and deepwell socket tool sets, you can get better socket rails elsewhere.

This is a really nice socket rail system. The sockets are held in nicely in place by a spring loaded ball and struggling to get the socket on\off isn't an issue at all. The only downside to these however is, the black clips will break easily if dropped. One might say "Well, what do you expect if you drop it?" I might say, "These should hold up to a drop or two without exploding." Plus, I'm not sure how they'll hold up in extremely frigid weather conditions dropped or not. The remedy I'd like to see is, strengthen the black clips during manufacture and provide a spare or two should one get dropped inadvertently and broken. The cost for these is more than fair and I would definitely buy more. Though I hope the aforementioned will be a consideration by the manufacture and I would actually pay more for these if that was corrected. I ordered a few extras to replace some worn out steel racks I've been annoyed with. And with that thought, I'll have to pick up a few more to have spare clips standing by because I'm sure one way or another they'll get bumped or dropped again. Obviously, there are mounting holes incorporated into these rails for secure mounting for those that want to use that method which would thus prevent them from being dropped. However, it's not practical for me to use that method because most tool box drawers won't allow it and neither will the portable emergency tool box in my vehicle. I'd really like to see where people actually bolt these down. The only place my tool boxes will allow a permanent stand up socket system is the very top or a few of the deeper drawers on the bottom of the tool box sections. Even at that, one would have to either glue them down or use a nut and short bolt head as not to interfere with drawer operation. Permanently mounting these doesn't make sense for me nor is it practical in my shop. Though that might make more sense for you to use that method. Everyone has their own thing going on so, all in all though, It is my opinion this is a much better system than any of the steel ones I've used considering the dropping mishap I've encountered. Eventually the steel ones wear out over time and get sloppy by not holding the sockets on tight enough to even stay on the rail and you can only re-bend them into place to tighten them up only so many times. I highly recommend these to anyone from a part time user to a daily user. Just try not to drop them. Good Luck and thank you for this opportunity to share my views.

These are nice little rails for the price. They are a good match for the husky socket sets although it would be nice if they included 11 or 12 holders even if it meant raising the price a bit. I bought 3 of these to house two Husky 11-piece socket sets (sae and metric) and both those sets came with 11 pieces so I had to buy a third rail to get a few extra holders. But with the low price on these even with that these are still a no brainer for me. The husky socket sets I had came with some pretty nice rails but these are a bit more compact and my socket drawer is about at the max on what it will hold now. These let me pack more in and still keep things orderly. I have these in all 3 sizes now and they are great. I've had a few other kinds of holders but I really like these. They hold the sockets well enough without being so tight they are hard to remove.

I bought these to hold my Husky Universal 12 Point Knurled Sockets in Metric & Standard. They included enough holders for all the common sockets & a couple extra for any you order or buy later. Nicely made & work well. Worth the Price!

I've been keeping all my tools in a small 11" x 5" x 4" metal tool box and when I needed it a certain socket, it meant taking out half of the tools and finding the plastic bag with the right sockets. Then I decided to get better organized and bought a bigger metal tool box. To organize the sockets, I purchased 4 Husky rails: 1/4-inch, 1/2-inch and 3/8-inch (Qty 2). I was easily able to remove unused socket holders and even condense the 4 rails to 3 rails with a few socket holders left over (for future needs?). All the sockets sit in the top tray of the tool box now. For the money, the value is great

I've been keeping my collection of sockets in a small metal 11"x5"x4" tool box that was filled to the top over the years. Whenever I needed a socket, it usually meant dumping half the tools out and looking for the plastic bag that had in this case all the 1/4" sockets. Then I decided to get organized with a bigger tool box and opted to purchase this Husky socket rail. All my 1/4" sockets fit nicely on it and are easy to find. I removed the unused socket holders and have since added another one back (1/4 to 3/8 adapter). They all sit in the top tray of my bigger metal tool box

These are not perfect but for the price I think they are a decent deal. I much prefer them to the old metal ones I had. I wish the store had more because I still need a few more and I got all they had in 1/4 and 3/8 sizes. Next time they get some in or I'm near another store I'll grab a few more. The main gripe I have is that they only come with 10 holders. This is not enough for most applications and you end up buying an extra just to get the extra clips. The clips pop off easy for transfer to another rail. And the 1/4 and 3/8 clips are the same width. This worked out well as I had this one odd set of sockets that had some of both that I wanted to keep together on the same rail. All in all I like them. The also tend to stay put better than the old metals ones I have which tip over more easily when the drawer is opened and closed.

For as cheap as they are they are a good deal given the quality which I thought was pretty decent. Like everyone else I thought they should come with more holders. So I bought extra just to get the holders. But again since they are so cheap that is not so bad. It does make them not quite as good a deal of course but it still averages out OK. I do like them better than the old 30 year old junk metal ones I have. Unfortunately this means I now need some more. Like a lot of small purchases they are going to cost me a lot more before it is over because while I was there I looked at those heavy milwaukee toolboxes they have for a really good deal and now I've got to have me one of those since I've caught the organizing bug and my old small roll around box looks so sad. Doing this little bit of organizing reminded me me how small and crowded my existing box is since it will not hold all my socket sets and the wrenches are in a big pile in a drawer due to being overfull. So yup, these are nice but once you start organizing realize it can be hard to stop at something small like this. But hey, that new toolbox will go well with these organizers. Of course I'll need more organizers for the new box since it is bigger and I have more sockets and tools scattered about in assorted toolboxes. Where does it end ?. Today I bought all the 3/8 the store had (they only had 5 in stock) That was a pretty paltry number to keep in stock. They had more of the metal ones and those are fine but they take up more room for the given number of sockets stored. So that means an order of course. And I should have got some 1/4" for my my small bit of 1/4 loose stuff. Of course this may be an interim solution and I may switch to the peg type that have size labels on them. Yep, organizing can just get out of hand fast.

Easily organize all your sockets with this handy rail. If you purchase multiple rails, same or larger socket sizes, the clips are interchangeable, making it even easier to organize your sockets on how you want them .

These rails work great. They are secure but you are able to remove a socket when needed.

Good, but inconsistency with the springs cause some sockets to just fall off

I would have liked it to have double the holders on it but these were the biggest you have.

Great price it holds the sockets tight not loose them any more
