The quality of this rack is very good. The fit and finish are all better than I expected, and it’s definitely very sturdy once you get it installed. I’m not the most handy, so it took me the majority of my Saturday afternoon to get it in place. It would be faster with another person to help. Also, I did have to manually bend the flanges/tabs on the lateral support beam to get them to “catch” on the vertical beams, hence the 4 stars, but otherwise the instructions were all easy to follow. I do worry about the weight, so I’m probably going to buy another just to be safe. Then again, 600lbs is a lot of weight which they say it can handle. Overall great!

Put this rack up within two hours. Very easy to put up. Sturdy once I put storage boxes on. Replaced the large 8 screws with Gavinized Skews. All accessories in box. Decent and stong for the money. The HD associates were polite when picking it up at curb site. Very satisfied.

the only thing I did not like is that only one bolt on each pillar is holding everything, I'm going to reinforce that part just to be on the safe side.

Solid product. Got two of these on sale. Shipping took a while through HD. Installation takes a bit of planning and time. First one took me about 6 hours and the second took about 3-1/2. You can do it yourself but I highly recommend have someone assisting with the lower beams. Placing the brackets on top of the ceiling is the hardest part. Recommend after you find the joists in your ceiling tape a piece of trim or something to the ceiling to get the distance between brackets right. I also used a laser which helped line up the brackets. Overall this is a great product. Have had them up for about two months. We didn't want to pay for storage and these are very sturdy and helped out a lot.

Heavy duty - saved me from having to put all in the attic. I’m buying another one for the other side of my garage. Love the fact they are not visible and are installed over the garage door area.

I like the fact that it can be shortened to hug the ceiling, I had it installed above the garage door and still have 24" of space to store things on the rack.It was just built and installed today. I'm very happy with it.

I ran into a couple of issues when I was installing this. The second lag bolt I put in sheared right in half. I was using a cheap old wrench to tighten it, so I wasn't putting that much force on it. The other problem I had is when you put the beams on the sides. There are a couple of small tabs that you have to fit into slots and then tap it down with a mallet. I couldn't get them to fit in there and skinned my knuckles trying. It is an unnecessarily awkward way of doing it. I had to put the beams in the vice and use a screwdriver to bend the tabs out to make it fit. That is a poor design in my opinion. On the plus side you can set the height of it so it sits above your head and the tops of your vehicles. Even setting it up a bit to a height of 38", with the full width of 48" and length of 96" that is a lot of storage space. Also it is storage space that otherwise would go totally unused. It is rated to a maximum weight of 600 lbs, but I think I'll just put light stuff up there and not push the limits. I'm going to put my coolers up there because they are relatively light and bulky. I don't know whether the weight limit includes the weight of the frame itself which is quite heavy, and of course you have to make sure the lag bolts are well attached to the rafters. Overall it is a great purchase if you need more storage space in your garage.

This is my second Husky overhead rack and both installed well and the the installation instructions were very supportive. The only issue with this second rack was that the box was totally destroyed and barely holding together when delivered to my door and I was concerned that the contents would be damaged or some items missing. However, the internal packaging was perfect and nothing was missing or damaged. I store seasonal tubs that are 24Lx14Hx12W double stacked on these racks and the first rack has performed perfectly for over 5 years.

Easy assembly, but do not go by pictures for setup. All brackets attached to ceiling must be parallel. Very sturdy and amazing.

Someone needs to call us ASAP. This is the second incorrect delivery. First of all this order was canceled and was not going to be re-ordered until December 7 per Sherrill as the promised delivery date could not be met. Second the product that was dropped off at our home is not the correct product it is only 32 inches wide instead of 48 inches wide. Husky 42 in. H x 96 in W x 32in. Was delivered instead of Husky 42 in. H x 96 in W x 48 in. which was ordered.

Horrible quality control of shipping this product. Originally ordered this product on July 31st, received this a week later and was missing over 39 parts and the important cross brace for support. Very disappointed. Called and they tried sending a new product again and today I received a very damaged box again and was missing all the pieces to hang this rack, such as the instructions, lag bolts, washers, hex bolts and braces that go to the ceiling. This product is being shipped from the vendor and not directly from Home Depot which is the problem. There is no quality control.

I had an initial setback while installing this product. The problem was my garage ceiling is finished and it was a pain to locate the center of the joists. I finally bought a stud finder that points the exact center of the stud. I would recommend getting that if you have a finished ceiling. The other must have tool for this install is an impact wrench. The wooden screws are very difficult to get into the joists (broke 2 screws in the process but had a couple of backups lying around). I like doing DIY work and still the install took about 2.5 hours to get it right. Overall the rack feels solid for putting heavy stuff. It sways a bit if you push it from sideways, but that's a given for the design. The vertical bars are height adjustable which may give additional space, if you have tall ceilings. The one thing I did not like about this product was the paint coming off the at lot of places (probably due to grinding between parts while shipping). Overall, I would recommend this product as it provides additional space in the garage and holds heavy items well.

Received this is relatively good condition. I opened the box and you can see pretty good packaging. Heavier than I thought, but when working with pieces during the installation it wasn't bad at all. The only thing is the stretch while suspending it from a 12 ft ceiling in my pole barn. The bag of nuts and bolts inside the box was split open and some of the nuts and bolts were missing. Looks like a lot of bolts and you will use them all. The kit did not come with lock washers, which I added to the bolts. A couple of the holes did not line up and I used a drill bit to widen the hole. Seems durable, says good for 600 lbs but I certainly would not put that much weight on it. Took me about 2 hours to install by myself.

Rack is a great space saver for storage. The large size, 48" x 96" holds a lot of storage. Install is straight forward. The only tools needed are a 7'16" open end wrench and the same size ratchet/socket for install the brackets. Recommend two people for installation as you will need to measure distances of 48" and 96" for placement of the brackets. The lower beams are 96" so two people makes attaching them much easier as well. Take the time to get your measurements correct and square before installing as it will save you time in the long run. The lower shelf is adjustable to different heights based on your individual needs and configuration required. I installed all the brackets, hang posts, and beams loosely at first and once everything was together and level I tightened all the bolts and had no issues with part fitting. Husky warranty is lifetime with free replacement of any defective parts. This unit was shipped to me and arrived in perfect condition. The cross beams assist with support but also help make the unit square. The wire shelving easily installs into the frame. A little work pays off with great storage space that doesn't take up room on the floor.

Right now my garage doesn’t have a ceiling and I want to install one. This overhead storage rack will be useful for storing stuff in the garage when I’m finished. It will be a while before I actually install it. From what I have read you can install it at different heights so hopefully I can install it so that I don’t bang my head on it. Others have mentioned this but be warned it is very heavy when you get it in the box. Also the components and fastenings are not secured together so when you pick the box up a lot of things might slide down the other side of the box making it even harder to pick up. Also I had at least one of the fastenings falling out of the box. I hope that was the only one. Also the instructions got crumpled up with the stuff sliding around. At least there are instructions though. They should really design the packaging better.

Overall did what I needed it to but is only adjustable for 2 different lengths. If your ceiling boards don't match up you have to install modifications to your joists. If you have an enclosed ceiling that is not practical. In this case I had to use the 72 inch length setting for attachment to the ceiling. Also I was expecting the bracket to have more than one bolt holding each corner. This one has a single bolt on each corner connecting to the bracket screwed into the ceiling. If one of those boilts fails the whole thing may come crashing down.

The storage rack was easy to assemble, though the instructions could have been written better.

Looks good. Putting it together was a challenge! The directions might as well been written in Chinese!

The overhead structure helped us organize our home. We liked the versatility of the first unit so much we purchased two more.

The lag screws attaching to the ceiling are solid, but each of the 4 vertical rails is held up by a little 1/4 bolt. So there are 4 of these little bolts on each corner designed to hold 600#! I can never understand why companies don't oversize simple bolts when the cost increase is minimal. $10-20 more for the cost of larger bolts just gives you peace of mind. The rails are solid, and we didn't have any bolts strip out, but all of the bolts could be larger!

This is an awesome storage unit for storing large objects and bins. I bought this to store an outdoor ice rink and it works perfectly for stacking the boards. Definitely worth the money.
