I've been given the opportunity to evaluate the new Husky Slat Wall system. The system is extremely versatile in that this starter kit includes two 8 in. by 50 in. panels and can be added to as your needs increase. These two panels can be mounted in one of three different ways. (See image below)
I've got pegboard on all my available wall space so I'm probably going to remove a few items and mount this right over the pegboard in a continuous 8 ft. run. Everything I have is hung with pegboard hooks so I was pleased to see that they offer two types of baskets, which I ordered. Both the wire basket and the utility bag hook securely to the panel and are easily removed. Each section supports up to 50 lbs. per linear foot so this works well for commercial applications as well as residential.
Husky, and Home Depot, offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty and if you choose you can return the product to any store for up to a very generous 180 days.
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Excellent Quality, Nice Design
Sturdy! Compared to a traditional wooden slat wall, the heavy duty resin plastic holds well. Installing was easy once all measurements were made and level lines were drawn. I took down an old particle board cabinet to put up the Slat wall to allow more flexibility in keeping different tools close at hand. I really like the variety of hanging accessories that work with the proprietary system but a little disappointedly it does not work with traditional slat wall accessories.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Assemble, Excellent Quality, Great Instructions, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Looks High End, Nice Design, Sturdy, easy to follow instructions, easy to cut for custom size
This system is easy to install and provides a versatile storage solution. Start to finish, it took two people about 30 minutes to get this hung on a garage wall. Because of the location (having other items on the wall within a couple inches of each end), we opted not to fool with adding the trim piece on the sides. We used the 3-pack of L-hooks on one side of the slat wall to replace an old coat rack that had started pulling out of the wall. The panels are very sturdy and have a clean look since all the screws are hidden. My only complaint is that one of the holes for the metal dow wasn't drilled deep enough in one panel so there's a small gap (see photo). Not super noticeable though - nice upgrade for any garage!
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Good Size & Weight, Looks Great, Sturdy
This is a great, easy to install wall organization system. What's nice is you can install as many or as few slats as you like to fit any wall. And you can easily add to it later. It's very neat and clean looking. There are numerous accessories available including different sized hooks and baskets which can be installed and removed in a snap and can be placed anywhere along the slats.
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Excellent Quality, Looks Great, Nice Design
The Husky slat wall panel is really a nice system for hanging tools, household and automotive items and get the out of the way and easy to access. It was really east to install, just level it on the wall and drill a hole to anchor to studs for a solid fit. It comes as a 2-panel set (8 inch x 50 inch), including trim and screws. It can be installed multiple ways to fit whatever storage needs one has. I definitely recommend it as a great storage system with a large variety of accessories.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Assemble, Excellent Quality, Functional, Good Size & Weight, Great Instructions, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Lots of Features, Nice Design, Sturdy, Well Made, comes with trim, anchor screws are hidden, accessories lock in securely
I like a well-organized working area, and this wall panel organizer offers several advantages over other common forms of storage like pegboard hooks or shelving. This wall unit fits close to the wall and accommodates accessories that fit like a glove to the panel. Peg hooks and standards are prone to poking out an eye, wiggle around when touched or coming free of the board when items are hung or removed. Traditional shelving takes up unnecessary space and collect dust on the surface. The mating of this storage panel to its’ accessories makes mounting secure, and hazard-free. Accessories can be moved to any horizontal position, and vertically within the fixed grooves of the adjoining rail. Mounting accessories can be swapped in and out with ease. One possible downside I see is that it seems generic accessories cannot be used with this product. However, Husky makes quite a large selection of accessories which are reasonably priced.
Installation was straight-forward though I did secure the panel to a masonry wall. This required drilling into the wall and using concrete fasteners. Fastening to standard drywall/wood studs would be much easier with the standard screws provided with the kit. All that is required is to secure the top rail to the wall surface, at locations you select (using stud location or other suitable surface). The separate rails are suspended below each other by french cleats fabricated into the rails. This design provides a strong and secure attachment of each rail to one another, provided that the wall fasteners are set flush with the rail surface. If not, the cleats will not fully mate to the top rail, and come apart. The masonry fasteners I used were kind of “chunky” and even though I attempted to countersink them flush to the surface, they did not fully seat into the panel, thus interfering with the mating of the cleat. To compensate, I chose to add a couple of additional screws through the surface of the rail to ensure a secure fit which did the trick. Top and bottom “finish” rails, as well as side trim, are provided to give the assembled panel the appearance of a custom installation (I did not use the side trim). Although I am using this product in my garage, it has a reasonably clean, neat appearance that would adorn a hobby shop or den with equal grace. And the modular design of the separate rails can accommodate many different configurations (i.e., single long rail, or two or more rails constituting different horizontal or vertical panel dimensions).
Although I did not need to cut the rails, they can be trimmed with an ordinary hand or circular saw.
According to the product literature, the boards are made of heavy-duty cellular PVC extruded from virgin materials. The surface is smooth and water resistant, although I found my pencil markings were more difficult to remove.
I would recommend this product to a friend.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Assemble, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Nice Design, Sturdy
Cons: must countersink wall fasteners, uses proprietary accessories
Good Quality and Easy to Install. I was looking for some organization options for my workshop and I thought I would give this a try. I have started off pretty small only getting a couple of panels and a few accessories. Installation took me maybe 20-25 minutes and that is being particular using a level, pre-drilling the holes etc. The slat wall seems to be well constructed and durable and I'm happy with it so I will be purchasing much more to get myself much more organized. I stacked my planks to keep it 4 ft wide but the kit included extra top and bottom pieces so if you want to run it long ways and not stack you will have what you need.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Assemble, Functional, Good Size & Weight, Looks Great, Sturdy, Well Made
I though this would be perfect above my workbench and I was correct. Huge improvement over the old pegboard I have used in the past. Installation takes only a few minutes and can be accomplished with only one person. Holds an incredible 50lbs per linear foot! Looks great too and can be used in garage, shed, laundry room, etc. Mine is great in the garage above the workbench. I like it so much I am going to purchase a second one for my shed!
Pros: Durable, Easy to Assemble, Excellent Quality, Functional, Great Instructions, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Nice Design, Sturdy, Well Made

We love this storage solution. We made sure to screw into studs so we could make the best use of the accessories. Easy to install and everything is off of the garage floor. A neighbor even commented on the wall we created.
