I’m using this in a grow tent. Had it for several weeks. So far so good. Not too loud. Not too heavy. The variable speed is nice to help control heat and humidity.

Very good air flow. Only issue was that I was connecting 12" insulated air ducting to the intake side, but the flange on the intake was too big and I had to come up with an adapter to make it fit.

This 8 inch duct fan is well built and balanced. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is the variable speed controller will not go as slow as we need for our requirement. The standard $50 booster fans do not provide enough CFM and this one provides too much at its lowest setting.

The Hydro Crunch 1072 CFM 12 in. Centrifugal Inline Duct Fan with Variable Speed Controller for Indoor Garden Ventilation certainly moves a lot of air and is surprisingly quiet, considering the amount of air that it moves. I recently installed a bathroom fan for a customer, that they had bought, it moves 70 CFM and is a lot louder than this fan is. That is 15 times more air with less noise. The only downfall that I can see is in the mounting design, they could have designed a better mounting bracket with more room to get my big fingers in and possibly a sound dampening pad for those who want it to be whisper quiet.

An excellent quality pre-wired high air volume 12 inch inline duct fan! This is not a propeller fan driven unit but a squirrel cage fan. This unit moves enough air through it that the exhaust side will move sawdust 35 feet away! The unit is made of high quality steel and the squirrel cage fan is also metal and very well balanced plus mounted on ball bearings. So balanced that the fan continued to spin after turning off for well over 1 minute. The noise level is actually lower than a household 20 inch box fan on high speed. The unit is pre-wired to a control unit that allows for variable speed control from low speed to high. The unit comes with a mounting bracket, but at 17 pounds weight, two people would make hanging much easier.. If you are going to use this unit as a stand-alone fan, the intake housing will need to be screened to prevent accidents. The Big Bad Wolf would have loved having this for use blowing down the pig's homes!

Great way to move lots of air to and from enclosed areas. The picture on the Home Depot website is a little deceiving since it's hard to judge the size of this fan. It's rather large due to its 12" intake and exhaust. Other than its rather large size this is a great way to ventilate large rooms in short order. I used this as a vent system for my welding booth. It comes prewired with a three speed switch that lets you tailor the amount of air being moved. When I first tested the fan I found that it produced just under 70 decibels (normal conversation levels) on the high setting and just under 65 on the low setting. The pitch of the noise is more of a whine so I used a section of flexible insulated furnace ducting and mounted the fan closer to the exhaust end of the ducting. As a filter I used a small simple fiber furnace filter. I also used some medium dense foam feet to keep the fan from transmitting noise to the welding booth. This brought the decibels down to just over 50 (moderate rainfall) and muted the whine down to a very acceptable level (for me). I wish the provided cord was longer, like 10' and rubber feet would have been provided with the unit. Overall this is a great way to move large volumes of air into or out of areas that need large amounts of ventilation quickly. Just know that without some sound insulation you may find the fan to be on the noisy side.

We recently acquired acreage that has two large greenhouses. One greenhouse has good working fans but the second has been out of commission for a long time. We picked up the Hydro Crunch 1072 CFM 12 in. Centrifugal Inline Duct Fan with Variable Speed Control to use as an exhaust fan for this greenhouse. The greenhouse has an overhead watering system so humidity builds up fast. The Hydro Crunch fan moves a lot of air through the intake vents and discharges out the end of the greenhouse. It was pretty easy to install and really does reduce the temperature and humidity. The variable speed control makes it easy to adjust for those cool days when not as much air flow is required..It is a well constructed design and relatively quiet considering the amount of air it moves.

I planned to use this fan to make an air circulation system in my woodshop to help filter out all the fine dust in the air. It definitely has the power and capacity, but also has a high pitched whine that does not really change no matter what speed you run it at. I would have been comfortable with a low pitch, like from a furnace fan, but this model while not as loud, creates a noise that reminds me of a circular saw running. Maybe if I can put some additional sound baffling around the unit it would be more bearable, but I assume the noise will carry through the air being passed through. The unit itself had very little vibration running at all speeds and the cord and variable speed where nice options to include. The mounting bracket is a pain to install. There is little room to get a wrench into the space, so trying to snug it down if you have to hold it in place will be painful. There only other option I see is to pass a bolt through and then attach the bracket to the fan, but that requires being able to get to the back side of where you are mounting the bracket. Pretty standard design, and runs ok, but noisy and difficult to install. One other issue to note is the outer diameter of the shroud, so the inner size of any duct used is 12 and 3/8 inches. Not sure why the odd size.
