Very good disposal. It's not as quiet as the Evolution model, but it's pretty quiet. I had previously had the Evolution model, but the motor locked up and didn't want to spend that amount of money for a rent house.

If you had an Insinkerator in the past this will line up exactly to make installation easy. This unit is a bit noisier than my previous but does have stainless components that resist rust and well worth the extra money. This is the best of the lower tier units unless you want to spend twice as much for a unit that is much larger. The extra size is sound insulation which will take up more room under your sink. Overall this is the way to go.

Many thanks to those who said this disposal is easy to install. It is. I'm not all that handy and I was going to pay someone, but after reading the reviews about installation I decided to tackle the job myself, and had no problems. Someone else mentioned the dishwasher knockout plug; be sure to heed that advice. Also, when you remove your old disposal you're going to see the discharge tube and think "This is disgustingly dirty; I'll get a new one." But the disposal comes with a new tube, so there's no need to buy another one. A nice bonus on this unit--it's quieter than my old one.

I just purchased the Badger 900 Garbage Disposal to replace an earlier model (the 500) which had begun to leak from the bottom. I was very pleased with the simplicity of the instructions and the ease of installation. I was able to use the existing mount because it was the same size as the new mount so that saved some work but, overall, had no problems. I'm happy to not have a plastic container under our sink catching water every day! We ordered it online at homedepot.com and had it delivered to our house and had no problems with that either...so very happy now and on to the next project!

Very good product. Fairly easy to install as a DIY. Please note originally I was replacing a Pro 333 (now known as Contractor 333). I was hoping to simply hang the new unit on the old mounting ring. In theory the ring hasn't changed in design, but in practice it didn't quite fit right. So I ended up using the new sink flange and mounting bracket. In the long run that was the right thing to do, but originally I was hoping to save that step in the installation. Overall very good product. The new unit is a bit quieter than the original Pro 333. One additional heads up... I found that it takes a second set of hands to hold the sink flange down in order to install the snap ring. Trying to do it with only one set of hands is very difficult because the sink flange keeps popping out of place. But with two people it's a simple installation. You only need a second set of hands for about 1 to 2 minutes.

I just purchased and installed this disposal today. Several people told me I could do this myself so I tried. I am 58 and female. The directions were easy to follow and I didn't need any fancy tools. The only problem I had was not having the strength to hold the disposal up while fastening it to the sink flange. I had to prop it up on a bowl and a book to hold it up high enough in order to get it fastened in place. I did do it myself in about 45 minutes but make sure you have something or someone to hold it up if you don't have the arm strength.

Bought this and installed myself when my 1/2 HP badger died. Replacement was relatively easy, as I did not have to replace the mount because it's the same brand! Good value. It's just about as noisy as the old one, but I figure it's not too bad since you only run it a couple seconds a day.

We had a previous Insinkerator and replaced with this new Badger 900. Our previous model was Insinkerator's PRO 333 and the motor gave out after 10 years. I gave it 4 stars as the PRO 333 had a short life with only 2 adults with light usage, in my estimation. We will see how long this new Badger 900 motor will last and have it registered with Insinkerator. We reside in Wisconsin and support corporate Insinkerator, located in Sturtevant, WI.

I was able to install this Badger 900 as a direct replacement for an 11 year old Kitchenaid Custom 150 garbage disposal. I transferred the power cord and used the old Quick Lock Sink Mount for an easy installation. The drain connection matched up perfectly too.

Recommended by in-store master plumber, after asking a few relevant questions. He had given me very good advice on several occasions previously, and I have had no problems so far. I installed it myself in under 2 hours following step by step instructions. And it's rather quieter than the 1/2 HP one it replaces.

            Badger 3/4 HP Garbage Disposal
This is the second Badger I own the first one was removed by contractors when my counter top was replaced they removed it and replaced it with a cheap 1/2 HP garbage disposal. The cheap garbage disposal lasted just about 13 months 1 month over replacement. I purchase the Badger 3/4, this machine has the power and is quite, it is easy to install, my wife loved it.

            Great bang for the buck
The Badger 900 disposer is and incredible value for the money. It has enough power to do most anything and while it isn't the quietest disposer ever made the sound level is not objectionable at all. Overall it is a great buy... although the cost is only a little more than a less capable unit the Badger 900 should be considered and it should serve you well. The grinding blades and grinding chamber are stainless steel so it should last a long time. If you need a good, capable and high value unit then this may be the best bang for the buck on the market.

            Very Good Disposer
Easy to assemble although it will take you much longer if it is a replacement unit. It takes at least a half an hour to remove you old disposer. You may have to replace old drain parts which can be frozen or will break when you remove them. Transferring your power cable to the new unit may take half an hour. Factor in a run to your favorite hardware store. Write down the serial number before you install the unit, you will need it to register your product. That way you won't have to go under the sink to get it once the disposer is installed. The installation instructions were very straight forward and easy to understand. The diagrams were very good.

Outstanding Product, Easy Install - a Must for the Holidays
I upgraded our 15 year old Badger 1/3 HP with this Badger 3/4 HP in about 40 minutes. The instructions were easy to read - and be sure to read them if you have a dishwasher line to hook up or you might forget to tap out the dishwasher drain line fitting plug before you connect the hose from the dishwasher. No way I did that! I always read the instructions. I could have retained all the old fittings since they match, but in for a penny-in for a pound, I wanted to spruce up the drain with new chrome. Here again those instructions are handy. They give a hint on setting the old unit in the sink to hold down the drain assembly as you tighten it from below. No way I did that either! Heck, what are wives for but to inconvenience with "Honey, could you come here for a moment and hold this drain down while I get under the sink and tighten it?" Yeah, marital bonding at its finest. If I'd followed the instructions it would have taken 10 minutes and less of 'those looks". I went with the larger model because it is quieter and probably will never strain on most of what goes down the drain. You can see that it's excellent for all that extra work around the holidays. Bon appitite mon ami Badger 900!

Failed 2 months after 3 year warranty period ended
The plastic housing of my Badger 9 3/4hp cracked after 38 months of use. Water leaked all over the inside of my under-sink cabinet. I have seen many other reviewers experiencing the same thing. Buyer beware!

Badger 900 has some good features
Badger 900 proved easy to swap out replacing a internally rusted Badger 5. Used a screwdriver to pry off the dishwasher hose after loosening the clamp. Pluming was easy since the size was an exact match. A heat gun softened the old Plummer putty on the sink portion. Screwdriver helped remove the snap ring, and that collar came off easily. Swapped the cord off the old unit and installed on the new. Put rope of putty under collar, and put towel in sink and placed new unit on collar to hold in place while installing new snap ring. Tightened screws to pull into place, and put new unit up and locked into place with a few taps of the hammer. Finished by re attaching the pipes. These with water showed no leaks. Plugged cord into wall outlet, turned on water, switch on, unit runs nicely! All done in about 35 minutes.
