The baffle that came with my disposer offered a little more sound dampening than this one, but did not allow water to flow down quickly and it would pool up in the sink. This one provides easy flow for an empty sink. It may be a little louder, but functions well in a way that is more important.

Coating coming off
The black coating on my flange has also chipped off after just a few months use. From the looks of other reviews and the response from the company it seems the fall back company answer is that somehow I have subjected my flange to abuse or harsh chemicals. That is simply not the case here. I simply could not recommend this product in good conscience as the finish is not robust enough to withstand daily use.
