  • Needed charging before first use, but then only lasted one mowing.

Purchased this Interstate lawn battery, 340 CCA, for $49.97 + $12.00 core charge, from Home Depot on 4/16/2016. Had to charge it for 9 hours before installing in mower, it cranked the mower easily, looked good. The next time I took the mower out, I had to help the battery by twisting the top of the engine by hand to get it going, it almost didn't start. After mowing I checked the battery, it was fully charged. Then I disconnected the positive battery terminal and measured the leakage current with ignition switch turned off, less than .001 micro amp, so the mower didn't have a problem causing the battery to drain. Next mowing, 1 week later, the battery checked a little over 12 volts, but would not crank the mower without assistance by twisting the top of the engine by hand, barely started. Decided to return the battery to Home Depot, will never buy one of these again. Going back to using the Lowe's Magna Power battery even though it's only rated at 300 CCA, those normally last me about 5 or 6 years.

  • Good price for this type of battery

I bought this same model battery five years and one month ago, and it has given me good service in summer and winter. I might have been able to top off the water, charge it, and get a few more months out of it, but I would rather replace it in the summer when I need to mow my lawn than in the winter when I need to plow my driveway. My local Home Depot had it for about $45 (with trade in), but I had to go to Sears to find replacement cable terminals, terminal bolts, felt pads for corrosion, etc. I noticed Sears had a Die Hard Gold this size with the same CCA rating for $65, so this battery seems to be quite a bargain. I have read that Johnson Controls makes both Interstate and Die Hard batteries, so I think both are top quality.

This is the best battery I have purchased for ANY battery powered vehicle I've ever owned. I have never had a battery last this long in anything (including automobiles). I purchased this battery from Home Depot and installed it in an old 1999 lawn tractor/snow blower. It has been in service for at least 10 years and is still working. I checked it and the cold cranking amps have dropped to 218 cca. I am going to replace it this fall just to be sure I don't have trouble this winter. You can be sure I will be headed to Home Depot to buy another Interstate Workhorse 340 cca sp-40 battery.

This battery only worked a couple of times on the lawn mower. Then the lawn mower wouldn't even turn over. Very disappointed, since finding it was difficult locally. I should have known better since all of the batteries had dust and dirt on them from sitting so long on the shelf. When I returned it to Home Depot, they told me I had to charge it and said Home Depot doesn't do that. I said what is the point of buying a new battery from you, if it does not even work or have a charge? Ridiculous!

Purchased this battery less than 12 months ago. It made through one summer and now has a dead short. I'm out to get a replacement and it will not be this one again.
