Wood and glass was covered with glue. Was very difficult to get off. It wasn't even painted in clad.

Great window at a great price. The inner wood is...
Great window at a great price. The inner wood is difficult to paint, meaning that there’s a lot of taping to do, but that’s to be expected; it’s a window. Works great for our egress window and looks very sharp!

This window is great for the price. It is made...
This window is great for the price. It is made from pine and the outer side is sheathed in aluminum. Easy to install and easy to remove the nail fins with a sharp carpet knife. The crank is smooth and the window closes tight into the frame. For $350 (for the size we needed), it’s a superb buy.

The windows have yet to be installed as the contractor...
The windows have yet to be installed as the contractor is behind schedule. The windows and screens arrived in great shape--no problems. I have been able to stain the interior wood casing constructed of a hybrid "Auralast pine" which is supposed to be rot and termite resistant. I used a gel stain and the wood took the stain beautifully. Window mechanisms seem to work fine. I had a recent conversation with my brother in Wisconsin. He built his own house as well as a log cabin in northern Wisconsin. When I mentioned that I had purchased Jeld-Wen windows, he basically said "great buy". He has had Jeld-Wen window in his houses for over twenty-five years with no problems. I was surprised when the window guy at the Hermitage Home Depot said they really didn't sell many of these windows. That's too bad as they seem to be excellent windows at a very reasonable price. Other customer reviews that I read said the same. I look forward to using them.
