Purchased these for our new build. They are stunning, so much better than plain white. Easy to stain and seal. Don’t use painter’s tape on the glass, it can effect the etching.

Just exactly what I expected. A little extra glue that was easily sanded off. We painted one side and stained the other to match the decor of the rooms it separated. We were surprised by the soft close feature.

I wanted to replace a pocket door from the 60's and thought a barn type door would look nice. The kit comes with all of the hardware you need and easy to follow instructions. Where I ran into issues was prepping the door to stain so it would match the rest of the house. Since I am an arborist that specializes in pests and diseases of trees I find wood interesting and know a few things about wood damage. While sanding to prep for stain I noticed blue stain which doesn't compromise the structure of the wood but is a sign that the tree was standing dead for a while before being harvested and the decay process may have started. I then noticed a few soft spots where white rot had begun and the mill was trying to maximize yield so some was visible. Since it is an interior door it shouldn't be a problem, and if you like the rustic look then it could be a plus. I noticed two beetle exit holes in the veneer of the upper part of the door so there were live larvae in the wood when it was milled and veneer was placed over the area hiding the damage, again it is an interior door so not too worried but I don't like the idea of not knowing the soundness of the inside structure. When I finished sanding carefully so I didn't sand through the veneer I prepped for stain and got to work. It was then I noticed several areas on the door where stain would not sink in the wood from glue seeping put of joints and some random spots that I assume are drips someone tried to wipe up. I sanded as much as I thought was safe without sanding through the veneer to minimize the glue spots but was unable to get most of them out. Looking back I think this was more of a paint grade door not a stain grade door. It is up now and my wife is fine with it but I may pull it down to sand and paint the door since I notice the flaws every day. Had I just prepped for paint none of the problems would have shown and the door would be fine.

First off, lets start with I really like this door. It is nicely made and solid. With obscure glass, I used it as a bathroom door in the MBR. I will also state, that while I am a very skilled DIY person, I have never installed a barn door and there was a large learning curve to follow all the instructions and have the final installation be very professional. Essentially, I needed to to understand fully how all the mechanism worked in order to have it fit my custom size opening. I got a 36” door for a 28” opening. It required me to to adjust the trigger guides contrary to the instructions to get the door to open and close at the right point. All needed hardware was included in the kit and the instructions were good, but I did have to read them several times to make sure I understood what was being asked. While, the instructions talk about cutting the top and bottom metal rails, I don’t think I should have had to cut them for a 36” door. Both top and bottom were about 1/4” too long and needed to be cut in order for the end caps to fit flush. I would say I spent at least 6 hours installing the door and another 6 hours refinishing the door. I finished it in a weathering product by Valspar, which is also a product I have never used. It is a chemical that makes the wood looked weathered, but it is neither a stain or a paint. I will review that separately. Overall, I think the door came out great and looks good. But this type of installation is not for everyone. It requires a 1.25” forester bit, which costs close to $20. I happed to have a 13mm Forester bit for hidden cabinet hinges. I used this, even though it was slightly bigger than 1.25”. Incidentally, the obscured glass is smooth. It is possible, the obscure part may be a film, but it still looks good. The door quality was made very well. The instructions were easy to follow and total time to assemble was about 1 hour. Door is very heavy made of solid wood. Everyone asks where we bought our door.

beautiful wood. hardware works well. i bought two kits with the idea of having them come together in the middle to cover one opening. Was not successful at getting help to do that. tried at Home Depot and at the company that made the doors. It is shown on the Home Depot website, but there is no help to make that happen. So that is a great disappointment.

Lovely door, as pictured. Hung it btwn our kitchen and laundry room. Love the soft close feature and the brushed nickel hardware fits w/ our coastal decor perfectly. Our contractor hung it but had no issues. Really happy w/ our purchase!

This door gives a new fashion look to a barn door. In the future, it will give a new meaning to the “character” of the barn door in residential use.
