Tannins on the cabinets still came through the top coat if paint even after using primer. Many hours of effort went into them, only to be disappointed with the end result.

I had a water leak from my attic HVAC and it left some unsightly water stains on the foyer ceiling. This product effectively sealed the stain and I was able to paint over it with a white latex ceiling paint. Perfect.

Pros High Quality of Material, Easy Instructions, Easy to Use, Good Protection, Easy to Apply, Good Coverage

I read many reviews before deciding on buying Kilz to use for my project. Everyone recommended using it to seal and get rid of stains and odors. Most of the areas only needed one coat as to where I used 2 coats on a few tough areas. It did the job and worked better than I thought! I am so happy I used Kilz complete to seal the subfloors in my home to get rid of stains and odors before putting down new padding and carpet!

Great primer. Used it over wallpaper as well as stained base trim to seal prior to painting. Latex paint went over both surfaces easily and with great coverage. Would definitely use it again. The odor was bearable - dry time was as expected.

I've used this product several times for wood projects, including furniture, moulding, and walls, and it is excellent. Hides knot holes in wood, stains, and other dark blemishes or patchwork. When it dries, it finishes in a sort of chalkboard like surface that is great for the final coat of paint. I find that the oil-based version is best, although brush cleanup is harder. I've switched to foam brushes, which can be thrown away.

Our old house had very damaged kitchen walls with numerous layers of old paint/wallpaper. After extensive scraping and sanding etc to prepare the wall surface witch probably would have been easier to just put up new Sheetrock - we used the kilz primer to block out the old stains and it did exactly what we needed done - it worked great. My only disappointment is that we inadvertently bought the oil based which requires mineral sports for cleanup - which is very messy trying to clean up the rollers and paint tray. Ended up just having to throw them out. Will use the product again but would recommend the water based over the oil.

You still have to prep area, if not you can scratch off the new paint. I was told I didn't need to sand the area first, however the new paint was easily scratched off in places when any pressure was applied to an area. So make sure to sand before using...
