It sealed the wallpaper glue excellently, however it did not...
It sealed the wallpaper glue excellently, however it did not seal joint compound or prevent flashing from joint compound and sparkling paste. I had to do a second coat of topcoat to tone down the flashing. One coat of oil based kilz would have been the better choice.

I thought this product worked well, and didn’t take coat...
I thought this product worked well, and didn’t take coat after coat to get the results I wanted. I actually bought a couple different kilz products for different reasons and I like them all… and there was little to no smell which is always a plus. I used this clear one because I was preparing a vintage plaster wall that was a little chalky. Looks like it’ll be good!

Very poor holdout. Does not seal residual wallpaper adhesive. A few weeks after final coats of good quality eggshell latex dried, variations in sheen from residual adhesive is telegraphing thru. Adhesive was cleaned as thoroughly as possible. Should have stuck with an oil based primer or shellac.

Worked great on stucco
I wanted a breathable primer for a stucco-over-wood frame wall. This is the only breathable primer I could find.
I used it on two houses. It applied easily since it was so thin, but left a sticky base to apply paint. Two years after painting with a breathable paint from Behr, the paint looks like new and there is no peeling.
I was so impressed with its performance, I am going to use it again on a third project.

Though the produce was easy to apply and coverage with top coat of paint so much easier. The end look of my siding was far better than I thought it would be. I will use kilz clear for all my pre work going forward. I highly recommend it.

Not drying clear!!
We're using this as a sealant to a mural and after 2 days it is still leaving a white film over the paint. This is NOT clear!

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the coating is not drying clear. Unfortunately, Kilz Klear Primer is not a topcoat (not a final coat). The primer is designed to seal porous surfaces and promote adhesion before repainting. Ideal for same color painting. It will be best to remove and use a clear topcoat designed for your project. Wow!!! Awesome product. Had a bathroom that was painted with cheap flat paint. A contractor used oil base kilz first and the oil seaped our and ran down the walls in streaks when showering. I primed with this sealer and 2 coats premium paint it cured the problem!

How many coats?
I just bought a gallon, but the directions don’t say how many coats to put on. I’m coating (pine) sheets of wood and will add coats of a vinegar mix to them (makes the wood look like barn wood). How many coats should I apply? Thanks.

Kills smoke odor
