scratch the surface when cleaning it, even with a paper towel. Use a soft cloth and water, no abrasives.

6 weeks later, it broke!
I bought this to match the black Kohler toilet, the seat is more grey than black. For the price I would expect better quality. Then it cracked. I would not recommend this seat

Another Cracked Seat
Used in a vacation home guest bath -- maybe 50 times in the past 4 years -- this seat has developed a crack through the entire seat. Whether it is a design flaw or a manufacturing problem, it doesn't matter: toilet seats should not fail in this way.
Out of warranty, the best Kohler could do is offer a discount on a replacement. I declined. It makes no sense to spend even $1 on a defective product. Reading about all of the other people who have had the exact same problem, I think it is best for Kohler to spend their money on engineering instead of trying to deal with customer claims.

Seat cracked after a couple of uses
I am 150 lbs. After using the seat a few times, I leaned over to get some toilet paper, and the seat cracked. It looks like a defect as the seam of the plastic is on the left side of the toilet seat where most weight is being applied. I check my other bathrooms and noticed that the seam is more towards the front where there is less weight. Either way, I do not recommend this at all. It is quite sad to pay almost $60 for a seat that is so poorly made.
