Best thing is Kidde uses the same mounting plate for all alarms this size, so removing old alarm and installing new unit is very easy. Sadly, the only way to know how well this works would be to have an incident that causes alarm to go off. Also, false alarms are annoying so hopefully that won’t be a problem.

Plugged in after detector cycled on started saying install new alarm. You are the new alarm. Boxes up brought back to store. Went with different unit.

I have decided to use the ten yr smoke alarms. The main reason is to refrain from having to change the batteries every year.

Installation was easy. The testing after installation was self-explanatory The directions were easy to follow.. Because they replaced my previous smoke detectors that were hard wired, I elected to have an electrician install them. Now they are up and have been worry free so far.

I used to install Kidde alarms for a living, so I know how to properly care for and where to place them. I vacuum them thoroughly once a month. Within two years, five of them in my own home nuisance trip to the point where have replaced with less ideal heat alarms. Warranty is useless when all it’s going to do is send you one of the same model if it gets approved, and then what do you do for fire protection in the meantime? If you buy a replacement alarm in the meantime, who reimburses you?

Easy to install. Really like the 10 year battery.

Relaced an existing 11 year old Kidde unit and electric plugs were identical, but did have to re-install the mounting screws since the new unit's base did not align exactly --- holes were spaced slightly different on the new unit. That's not Home Depot's fault... Kidde should have kept the same mounting pattern! It was an easy fix, but one that could have been easily avoided by Kidde.

Very pleased with new fire alarm assembly. No worries for 10 yrs. to change Batteries. Thank you.

Easy to install. I like not having to replace batteries. All devices were very recently manufactured, so the full lifetime should be realized.

Performs as advertised , and was easy to install.

False alarms all the time I would not recommend

The smoke alarm is fine; however, it did not fit the previous connection. I was told that it would fit the old one. Since it didn't the mounting was a little laborious.

These alarms go off at random times, every day. A month after spending $300 on replacing all the hardwired alarms in my house, we can’t get through the night without a false alarm. The alarm sounds “fire” and “smoke previously detected”. There is nothing wrong with the house. These alarms are junk.

You'll never guess... Mine go off in the middle of the night too! Multiple incidents now, including one when we were not home resulting in a visit from the fire department. These things are junk. I had GE photoelectric smokes in my old house for 9 years and not one false alarm despite being less than perfect about cleaning them. These are twoish years old and I have cleaned them annually. You should do a recall Kidde because someone is going to disable or disregard YOUR product when it counts.

This alarm has a number of features but the Users Guide like with many other products is not clearly written. Kidde's 800 support phone is helpful.

These are awful. I am constantly replacing them with in 6-8 months. My last 2 was with 3-4 months. I’ve cleaned them. I so done. Get these if you never want to sleep or be traumatized by a smoke alarm. I’m spent 100s of dollars!

Purchased five of these units. Returned all five (four back to the store, one directly back to kidde). Random false alarms (about one a day from differing rooms throughout the house). Researched on-line; finding results that this happens with this model often. Too bad my low profile kidde's were discontinued. (had to re-pig-tail and everything). Kinda disappointed, I really wanted them to work; they seems cool (led light with voice and all). Unfortunately, I don't really trust the brand now, and trust is kind-of important for these types of things....
