Great product, excellent quality! I Love that it has Dual Sensor technologies to detect smoke and fires. Should be available instore. Product would fly off the shelf. Highly recommended. Easy installation.

I am pleased with the alarms which detect not only smoldering fires but also large flaming fires. I also purchased the alarm adapters which allowed me to easily connect the new alarms to our current units (from BRK). My only issue with the alarms is that the alarm unit itself does not easily attach to the plate that is screwed to the ceiling. On every one the little pegs do not seem large enough to catch on the lip that holds the two pieces together. Consequently, the unit hangs loose from the ceiling. A couple of times I walked into a room to find the unit dangling by the wires. It was difficult (and frustrating) to attach the unit to the plate while standing with your arms above your head and trying to slide the unit until the pegs caught under the lip. seems to be a manufacturing defect that needs to be corrected..

Concise easy to follow instructions with these detectors. Easy to install to existing wiring replacing my 20 year old Firex units. I placed 3 of these dual sensor units in the 3 main sleeping areas and a 6-pack of ionization sensors in other areas of the house. I feel better about having new detectors vs. 20 year old ones. The only downside to these units is that they must be removed from the mount to change the battery.

I did research online and they recommended both ion and photo detection as best. I installed 9 and by the 3rd day one went off (falsely) at 3 in the morning. I thought maybe a bug or something, next night same thing. Disconnected that one. 2 nights later another one goes off falsely. Two nights later a third. Called Kidde and they said you need to clean them, I said there brand new, they said you probably have uneven electric power. I said you can have them back. Luckily Home Depot has a good return policy. Bought detectors with only photo and after a month so far no false alarms.

120V W/ 9V Back-up with Easy Install Wire Harness
Needed to replace an old unit. This was very easy to install. Simply mount the plate on the electrical box and then hook up the wire harness. Plug the wire harness into the unit and a slight turn attaches it to the mounting plate. Not only is this 120Volt that can be wired in sequence with other units, but it also has a 9 volt battery back-up. The ease of mounting and the wire harness will make it quick and easy to replace the battery as well. It also looks nice on the ceiling.

Great product for replacing contractor/builder 10 yr old plus detectors
easy to install and just what I wanted to replace 10yr old plus detectors that were only ionization only. This detector porovides ionization, photoelectric sensors plus battery back up.

Garbage
Installed 4 of these and had to replace them all within a year due to erratic activations constantly. I already wrote a bad review but it has already been removed from this site. DO NOT BUY.

Hello. If you have issues with our alarms again, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 while onsite with the alarms before you replace them. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean the alarm, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. If you have interconnected alarms, the first step is finding the initiating unit, as that is the key. See the owner's manual. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manuals. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. Try cleaning out the alarms. If you have the issue again, find the alarm setting off all of the others and call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.

Exact replacement of existing detectors. Changed out due to "age". Never had an alarm or a need for one so I cannot confirm that they are 100% accurate but have no reason to doubt.

Highest rating from consumer reports. High quality construction. false alarm button is helpful near the kitchen. Tip - if replacing an old unit/another brand - the wiring harness will not match. You can use the included adapter. But, recommend directly connecting the alarm to the house wiring and not using the adapter.
