I needed to replace my 16-year-old wired smoke alarms (should have done it after ten years) and the original product was no longer available as the company was no longer in business. This product was a perfect replacement and the adapters made the install a snap. I now have fresh smoke alarms, good for another ten years with much better battery access and easier maintenance than the alarms that were replaced. And, because I needed four, shipping was free.
I purchased this to replace the old model 1275 (6 units). Installation took about 20 minutes since the 1275 bracket mounting holes were compatible with the new unit. Also the 1275 wire harness was compatible with the new unit so no need to do any rewiring. Housing was easy to mount on the mounting bracket. There is no cotter pin to worry about dropping and losing. Easy access battery compartment is great.

This is an ideal, DIY value replacement for older hard wired fire alarms. We used it to replace our original fire alarms that were installed when our home was built about 20 years ago. With the included adapters it was a quick and easy DIY job that came out great. (see photos) These new Kid alarms include the back up 9 volt battery and make it quick and easy to change the battery when necessary. (see photos)
Bought 3 of these fire alarms because I like the simple operation. The wire in feature is fantastic as it triggers other alarms in the house simultaneously and the 9V back up provides a peace of mind. The front loading battery replacement makes the battery swap a quick fix. The alarm came with extra wire in fixtures that allows one to mate the older wiring with the alarm without having to rewire the hardware. Superb product with intermediate installation (if you choose to rewire), and peace of mind for protection.
Had to purchase five to replace what was in the house. With the adapters included was a snap to install the new detectors with the old wiring. Just had to replace the base, snap in the wire and attach detector. Couldn't have asked for an easier install. Hardest part of getting out the ladder to reach the 20 ft height for the living room replacement! Battery replacement will be much much simpler with the front battery door compared to the side battery compartment on the old. Always had to unhook detector in able to open side battery compartment. Now just a simple push touch, take out the old and put in the new. Couldn't be easier. Great product
Bought 4 units to change all detectors in my home. One of the four is continuing to chirp very randomly. Maybe once a day, two times in a row and then not again until hours later, etc. Have replaced the battery that came in the package with a real name brand battery with the same symptoms. Only recourse is to buy another unit and try to replace. Manufacturer needs to improve quality of this product. That said, I did give a recommendation since it has a new working rate of 75% (3 of 4). Not sure how other manufacturers would rate.

The batteries that come with these units are depleted. Thought I installed them incorrectly but once I put my own batteries in the low battery chirping stopped. These where old lead batteries and yet the box they where shipped in had caution stickers all over it "lithium ion batteries inclosed ground ship only". Wasted their stickers.
We had 5 units to replace. Purchased the first one at our local store and was happy with the purchase:
* Battery in front for easy access
* Silent button to use when testing or alarm goes off (must have feature)
* had extra "plug in adapters" just in case
Then we purchase the remaining 4 at homedepot.com for the lower taxes & frequent flyer miles!
