I had a 10 year old Kidde carbon monoxide detector that needed replacement. The old model used 3 AA batteries and the new model uses 2 AA batteries. However, the footprint is the same size and the backplate mounting holes are in the same location so installation was easier because I could use the existing mounting screw locations. It's hard to rate the actual performance but so far, the unit is working.
