Hello. One issue could be the brand and model of the batteries. You do need to use the specific brand and model of batteries listed in the owner's manual. The unit doesn't test the voltage of the battery. It runs on battery alone for a fraction of a second and measures the resistance and needs the battery to be within a certain range. If the battery is not in this range, it will read as a low battery. For this reason, other brand and models of batteries can read as low when they are not. It could also be the use-by date on the battery. Alkaline 9-volt batteries close to their use-by date can often not be powerful enough for this alarm. For this reason, we would very strongly recommend using the alkaline 9-volt batteries of the brands and models listed in the owner's manual with a really good use-by date of at least 3 or 4 years out and for best results, we would recommend use-by dates of 7 to 10 years out.
