This refrigerator is defective. My freezer door no longer produces ice. The design flaw is that from opening and closing the freezer door the wires on bottom get fraid. Definitely stay away. A manufacturer defect that kitchen aid unfortunately doesn’t want to stand behind their products. My refrigerator is ONLY 4 years old. And my freezer doesn’t produce ice!!!

Door panels don't line up flush. Top is flush and bottom sticks out almost .5" on the fridge side. Had a replacement sent and the replacement had the exact same issue. Kitchen-Aid refuses to acknowledge there is an issue because the refrigerator seals and works as it should. Bottom line, they refuse to do anything about it because its just a "cosmetic flaw". Apparently its within their manufacturing tolerances and acceptable for them ........Absolute joke for customer service! BEWARE!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was attracted to the KitchenAid brand as it is a step up in quality from the standard appliance brands. I had a previous refrigerator which ran for 30 years, and I could hope for a repeat of such performance. I was attracted to this model as it has dual evaporators, which means the refrigerant going to the freezer is on a separate line from that going to the refrigerator. This will result in more even temperatures in both the refrigerator section and the freezer, and less wear and tear on the compressor. Also, I wanted a side-by-side model so the ice cube maker would be in the freezer, with the dispenser at normal standing height. I didn't want to have to bend down every time to access the freezer portion, as with a bottom freezer. The price point was above my range, but November sales made it attractive, and I bought an entire kitchen appliance package for less than the list price of the refrigerator. Some other refrigerators, even less expensive models, have more bells and whistles than this model, but this has some features which are very nice. I tell myself the design effort went into building a better quality product, rather than a lower quality product with more features. I'm able to set the target temperature of the refrigerator and freezer portions in one degree increments. It doesn't have continuous readout of the internal temperatures, which was on my wish list, but after monitoring the internal temperatures with a digital thermometer for a month, I'm convinced it holds the set temperatures very well and I don't need to worry about it. The water and ice dispensers work very well, with back-lighting LEDs behind the paddles, which work very well as nightlight for the kitchen. In addition to normal water dispensing, the water dispenser has a measured dispense mode, which I'm finding to be very convenient. It needs to be calibrated first to dispense 8 ounces, which is easy enough to do. Then I can push the button for dispense mode, which then displays plus and minus signs to add or subtract from 8 ounces. So if a recipe calls for a cup and a half of water, I can set it for 12 ounces and dispense it without having to use measuring cups. The keypad also has settings for max-cool, to cool the refrigerator and freezer down quickly, such as after adding warm leftovers. It also has a max-ice, which will focus on making as much ice as quickly as possible as it is used, such as for a party. One idiosyncrasy of mine is that I like to take the vegetable bin out of the refrigerator and put it on the counter, pick and chop the vegetables I want to use, and then put the bin back. With other brands, the vegetable bin can be difficult to replace, but this refrigerator has nylon rollers on the bins which allow them to be removed and replaced very easily. That was something I tested in the store before buying. The interior walls are plastic rather than stainless steel, like my previous refrigerator. While I would have preferred a stainless steel interior, I got over that within a week. I keep telling myself the design effort went into a better functioning appliance and not cosmetic niceties. The LEDs in the refrigerator section are very bright and light up every shelf of the interior nicely. The freezer only has LEDs lighting up two shelves, and the other shelves can be dark when they are are filled with items. Additional LEDs in the freezer section would be nice. The refrigerator also has receptacles to hold a carbon filter for circulated air, and also a filter to absorb ethylene gas from ripening fruits and vegetable, slowing the ripening process. This filter can either be put in one of the storage bins or on the wall of the refrigerator section. Each filter lasts for 3 months, and has an indicator to tell when it is time to replace it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall the refrigerator makes more noise than I expected for a pricey unit. However the ice maker is the real disappointment. Water is somehow being warmed and drips down into dispenser creating a block of ice that jams the dispenser auger.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I like my refrigerator very much; however there is a flaw in the design of the drawer which has injured me multiple times. At the top edge of each of the drawers located just above the grab space, each drawer has a hard plastic ridge that scrapes knuckles and fingers causing minor injuries. See photos. If there is a remedy for this flaw, please contact me as it really hurts each time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We originally bought the size larger of this same model, but some of the LED lights weren’t working right after delivery so we got this one as a replacement. After having another brand French door refrigerator that quit working after only 4 years I am hopeful this one is better quality and will last longer. The finish is nice and counter depth is perfect in our small kitchen. We have had excellent history with our other Kitchen Aid appliances.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this refrigerator on 07/06/2023 or 07/07/2023, delivered on 07/10/2023. At this price point, I was expecting better. It appears the protective film was applied prior to assembly, and is stuck behind the display and in all seams between the door panels and the body of the fridge. This is very painstaking to remove. There is a stubborn adhesive tape smear on the interior of the fridge, trouble removing it. There is some paper taped up beneath the kick plate at the bottom front that has dropped down and I cannot secure it to not show. Too much money for these types of problems.

From day one, the freezer was showing condensation on the edge of the freezer door near the ice bin. Waited 2 mo for new door/replacement. New door also has same issue with condensation. I shouldn’t have to mop up a puddle every day with a brand new appliance.

It has replaced our 15-year-old KitchenAid counter depth and boy what an upgrade from the extra room inside to the lighting & measured fill. It's so easy to clean with just water and a soft cloth. Really love that I don't have to buy any stainless-steel cleaner to clean off the fingerprints or dog paws lol.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the way the fridge looks, and the features are pretty nice, but I should have taken heed to previous reviews about the water and ice maker not working. If you set the freezer to “0” and the fridge to “37,” which is what was recommended, the water and ice maker WILL freeze and stop working. This happened on week two, and I had to leave the door open for two hours to get it to start working again, with the help of a blow dryer. Water and ice started working again, but then stopped after another week or two. Again, open the freezer door, and with the help of a blow dryer, it defrosted and started working again. Bumped the freezer up to 5° and the fridge side to 42°, and I have not had a problem since . What I think is happening is the freezer has to work extra hard to keep the refrigerator side down at 37. So I think 42° is the trick. I actually got this idea from someone else in a different review, and I am convinced that this is the problem. Some people think it is the board, but it is not, it is the actual design of the freezer door.

Bought this just over 2 years ago. Ice maker stopped working about a year in. Turns out the wires in the freezer door that run the ice maker had torn because the protective coil was broken. Wiring in the bottom of the door are rare these days. The protective coil should have lasted longer than it did. The only way to correct is to replace the whole door. Now we have a beautiful fridge that does not function the way it’s supposed to. Soon all the wires will tear as there’s no protection which means the water dispenser will stop working as well. I would not recommend this product as I expect to get about 10 years out of a fridge not 2.

Own a similar one : KBSD618ESS01. Start leaking water just after 3 years warranty. Contact service center, they said needing change the whole freeze door because of the underneath waterline housing broken, ridiculous! Cost over $1200.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) We purchased this just over 2 months ago. We needed a fridge of a specific height and had to have water and ice on the door. This fridge fit the bill. Counter depth was another key feature and it fits perfect in our wall of cabinets. The shallower depth inside means it's easy to see all the corners, nothing is lost at the back of the shelves. Freezer feels bigger than our previous side by side, at least easier to find everything in there.

The look is very sleek and clean and the interior seems spacious when compared to the older model. The refrigerator shelves and door organizing and bright lighting make it easy to locate items. The ice and water dispenser works really well and does not send ice cubes all over the place like the old one did. The freezer has storage bins and shelves and bright light.

I also love how big this refrigerator looks even though it’s counter depth. It comes with a wine bottle rack gotta love that feature.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had this for about three weeks now, and I like it a lot. We had another cabinet depth fridge and this one feels like it has a lot more interior space in the same exterior dimensions. I really like the in-door ice maker, the sturdy, long handles, and the dark exterior finish. It came completely wrapped in clear plastic that was tucked into all the edges, so that when removed, there are little fringy pieces of plastic sheeting in all the seams, which looks really shabby. I've tried to get them out, but haven't been able to. Disappointed with this bit. Please see photos. Otherwise, I love it!

13 months ago I replaced a 20 year old Kenmore Elite that never had a problem with this Kitchen Aide fridge. (Kenmore is still chugging away in my garage). Now the evaporator in the fridge is frozen solid requiring a 24 hour defrost process involving shutting down fridge, removing all items. Then another 24 hour cool up period to get it ready to put food in it. What a pain!! The Kitchen Aide certified tech came out and explained that the freezer evaporator has a heater but the fridge evaporator does not. Therefore, when the freezer defrosts, the refrigerator is supposed to defrost. But it doesn't due to no heater. Very poor design. I aske him how to fix it and he said I could have him put about $250 worth of parts to go with the $105 service call but i wouldn't fix it. HUH?!? My wife and I feel like idiots spending $3k+ on a fridge that requires an annual 2 day defrost process. My advise is if you buy a fridge with dual evaporators, make sure BOTH EVAPORATORS have heaters. (Samsung is one that does, probably others)

Beautiful, high quality appliance. I think I noticed already that it keeps food fresher, longer. Nice temperature controls. Ice dispenser tends to throw crushed ice beyond your cup, however, and the drawers on the refrigerator side feel a bit flimsy given the overall quality of the appliance.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This refrigerator's interior is significantly smaller than our last one. Both were/are counter depth and have the same outer dimensions. The shelf adjustments do not meet my needs in either the refrig or freezer section. Did you do any real user testing - if you did, try another group. Cabinet ready and white finishes were not available. I like the interior lighting - it's nice and bright. The delivery experience was horrible.

I’ve had new fridge for almost a week. It replaced a 16 yr old KitchenAid that was similar and that I loved. I would probably give this a 3.5 if I could. As with everything else, over the years quality is not what it used to be. Pros: Love the increased lighting! Runs quieter Water filter at top of fridge instead of at the floor Cons: Drawers don’t slide as smoothly as older model Ice maker is smaller Ice/water dispenser MUCH louder

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Within 3 days of delivery my ice maker stopped working. Since no one is making refrigerators to last we kept our 2005 Kenmore in the garage just in case. It only took 2 days for the technician to come where he shared it was frozen. He fixed it and for now it’s working. The bottom plastic draws stick and pulls forward when you open them. You have to push them back into position.

Various sizes. I have had my 19.9 cu ft. KitchenAid side-by-side for about 6 years now. I love it for the convenience of seeing everything either on the fresh or frozen side when I open the door. I love it because the interior is made of glass-not plastic!-bins and shelving! I love it for the bright interior lighting. I am so glad to have a good quality refrigerator that FITS between it and my center Island - A LIMITED SPACE - but I can open the refrigerator doors while I stand and work in front no problem! Great! Exterior door water system is very good. Read the directions! One star less for the "fresh" system-not helpful at all.

Also, I love chilled, filtered water in my door, but the water is just warm....that seems odd to me. I love the design, but those are bugs that need to be worked out.
