[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, first off, I am in love with the look of this sleek refrigerator. We purposely chose to buy one without external ice or water for the sleek look. That said, I ordered it in August and it was not available for delivery until the very end of January (after many reschedules). Additionally, once our reno project was to the point that we could plug it in, we found that the ice maker did not work. Because there are very few "authorized" repair services, it took over 6 weeks to get service and repaired (due to a number of issues and product delays). It has now been working for a few days and overall we are happy with the product, but very concerned about having future issues and long delays for repair. We chose KitchenAid over a higher end product because that was a big concern, but it does not see that it is any better than with other products due to a lack of "authorized" repair companies.

LOVE

Far better than a Suz Zero
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this Kitchenaid built in refrigerator to replace our Sub Zero. The Kitchenaid refrigerator runs circles around the Sub Zero in it layout. Also, it’s nice to owns refrigerator with an ice maker that performs.

Does Exactly What We Envisioned
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had a previous Kitchenaid built-in for 21 years that worked perfectly before a flood damaged our home. Replaced it with another one and it is even better. Lighting, temp control, ice cube drawer, fresh produce...all are really nice upgrades.

New and Improved

Customer service
Be careful when dealing with repairs the company is not helpful and even during Covid there we site says safety is their top priority. They had a technician come out to my house 5 times and not once followed any Covid precautions zero . Also fridge still not fixed . Putting there employees and other families at risk . Just be were before you buy there products

Only lasted 10 years
We bought model KSSC48QVS01 (48 inch built in refrigerator)ten years ago. It has given us no problems up until now. It looks like the main circuit board needs to be replaced. However, Kitchenaid no longer has that part. For the price we paid for the fridge, I wouldn’t expect to have to look at replacing it after only 10 years. Buyers beware, Kitchenaid may not have the parts to fix it down the road and it is a huge investment.

Some changes from older model not for the better!
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is our second exact model of this refrigerator. Our older one was 18 years old and the only reason we had to replace it was they no longer sold the parts for it. We bought the same one because of the durability of the last one and no issues with it at all for 17 years. My husband repaired it originally and then could not get parts.The original model still looked brand new inside and out so we actually kept the panels and the handle. The new one has less room inside on the freezer side (smaller drawers and shelves, as far as depth) and on the refrigerator side also. The shelves on the refrigerator side are clear instead of worked so they always look dirty. There was no egg container. The shelves on the inside of the door are harder to access because of the height of the front panels.
I think the overall durability of this interior will not last the test of time like the old one. Overall the quality issue is a bit of a concern because of what I see on the interior craftsmanship. It makes me wonder what was sacrificed on the mechanisms. For now works great and I do like the thermometer that was added at the top which eliminates me using a portable one.

Bad experiences with KitchenAid major appliances

As an aside I bought 6 KitchenAid major appliances. Four of them have already had, sometimes multiple, service calls and repairs. Also bought a Whirlpool Washer and dryer and the dryer has had a repair.

An absolute NIGHTMARE
I bought this fridge 18 months ago. In May the freezer Led lights failed. It took my extended warranty 5 visits before they changed the LED light (which by the way they clam they never need to be replaced and very common complaint). I rate it 3 stars because the fridge is beautiful but expensive to have bulbs go out and to find out they do not make equivalent led lights, Instead the only part they have is a yellow light which looks horrible. and the real reason I would have gave no stars is because customer service is aweful. I have had issues with them. All they know how to do is say sorry maam and couldn't care less. I used to be the biggest Kitchen aid fan but from now on they have lost my business and will never recommend them again,

Overall good but Crispers are terrible
Good overall but Vegetables spoil twice as fast as in our Sub Zero in our other house and the solution for KitchenAid is a add on device that does not seem to work just takes up space in the crisper drawers. This is the same problem we have with our other KitchenAid fridge in our butler’s pantry. Both purchased new thru our builder. Really not work the money.

Great looking but with no real cold water dispense
We've had this refrigerator 5 days and while it looks great, and is cold enough, there is a "major" design flaw - and that is the cold water tank (for the built-in water dispenser) is so small that there is effectively NO cold water available. If you really want cold water out of the door - this is NOT the refrigerator for you

Surprisingly better
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had to replace our 23 year old Sub Zero that gave us many good years of service and didn't want to pay what a new one cost. Our appliance store recommended the KitchenAid 48 inch built-in. It was hard to buy something so expensive without seeing it since the store was closed due to the pandemic but we depended on the salesperson's recommendation and out favorable history with other KitchenAid appliances. The unit fit the space perfectly and is very attractive. The unit seems taller internally and it holds a lot of food. It took a few days to adjust to the new layout but it actually seems better. When they say it takes 24 hours to reach operating temperature, they weren't lying. The lighting is so bright that it is very easy to find everything. The ice maker is slower but not an issue with us. We had heard that the refrigerator was noisy but it is as quiet as a church mouse. On the down side, there are some internal components that interfere with some of the storage areas and the drawers are not flat which may cause soda cans to topple over if stored there. Most people would probably store them on one of the flat glass shelves. We have figured out work-arounds already. All in all, we are pleased with the unit.

LED lights constantly going out in Freezer
I love my 48 in Kitchenaid built-in - it is our second. However the unit is only 2 years old but starting at 18 months the LED lights in the freezer are constantly going out requiring service. At first was covered and now that 2 years is up it is no longer covered even though it has been an ongoing issue with the freezer LED's. Very annoying and disappointing in such an expensive appliance.
