Oh my goodness! I am absolutely in love with this dishwasher! I didn't realize how clean my dishes could be until I got this unit. I had an older unit that I have been using for years and struggled with trying to get my dishes clean. I have been able to put soiled dishes in this unit and they are absolutely sparkling clean after wash cycle because of all the jets. I am a pre rinse girl and though it is hard for me to put a dirty dish in the washer, I have done so to see how well this unit cleans. One of the features is that you do not have to pre rinse dishes and though I was skeptical, it is true to its claims. I am amazed at the quality of Kitchenaid products. I also like all the cleaning options at a glance located on top of the door. This design is sleek and looks great with my new kitchenaid 5 drawer refrigerator. My husband is working on the kitchenaid electric stove next! Don't hesitate on this dishwasher because you will definitely not regret this purchase! You will need to use a good quality dishwashing " pod" like Cascade and jet dry because in the manual it recommends that you don't use liquid soap. That was a new one for me.

My dishes are so much cleaner. This dishwasher is so quiet, that I have a hard time knowing if it is running. Which is so nice with having a baby, also the bottle wash works wonders for the baby bottles. That is a great investment.

I just installed this and I am VERY disappointed. Everyone said KitchenAid was the best, I find this very poorly designed. Even a medium sized frying pan can’t go on the bottom rack on its side without interfering with the top spinner! Likewise you can’t put ANY large utensils in the silverware holder without stopping that top spinner! The bottom rack doesn’t have large enough gaps to fit even a small casserole dish on its side, not even along the edges. In short It doesn’t fit 1/2 as much per load as my old MUCH cheaper dishwasher even though you don’t have to keep the center of the rack clear on the new one. AND according to the instructions it takes literally 2 hours to do one load !

I’ve never hated an appliance as much as I hate this dishwasher. Parts fall off of it every time we use it, it does a horrible job washing dishes unless you pretty much hand wash them prior to loading and the controls are the most frustrating inputs I’ve ever used in my life. They are counter-intuiative and seemed to be designed to make using the dishwasher harder than it needs to be. Replaced a very trusty Bosch that stayed with our old house when we moved and bought this on the advice of the salesman at the store. Won’t ever make that mistake again. The only good thing about this dishwasher is someday I’ll get to take it out, throw it in the backyard, and get to go Office Space on it with a crow bar.

  • November 04, 2019

We purchased the Kitchen Aid 5-Cycle Built-In Dishwasher, Model Number: KDTE204GPS. After months of problems, I seriously question if Whirlpool has suffered a major manufacturing issue. After 2 weeks of installing new, it started failing during a wash cycle with a blinking blue light, leaving us with a soapy mess. We did as the manual described, checking over everything like water temp, etc. The manual doesn't really say what the light means other than it's an "error". Eventually, we called Whirlpool to get a warranty claim. We were told we were "too remote" for regular warranty service, and that we would have to call a local repair facility, pay them, and call Whirlpool back to be reimbursed! Finally , after our local repair person (who stopped stocking Whirlpool parts and don't do Whirlpool warranty repair work anymore) replaced the board in it for a total cost of $228, it started working but again in about 3 weeks later, started with the blinking blue light issue again!! We still haven't been reimbursed by Whirlpool yet either. We will never buy another Kitchen Aid product again, and I am very doubtful of Whirlpool also! We are currently trying to send this back and get our money back to get a Bosch, time will tell if we can even do this. It's too bad as they used to produce quality products! Our other Kenmore / Whirlpool dishwasher is 17 years old and still works perfectly.

  • Lasted 2 yrs (previous version of this model)
  • July 30, 2020

After 2 yrs, water is not heating. Troubleshooting online tells us six different possibilities of parts gone bad. One of those 6 is covered under warranty. Others are not. Kitchenaid Cust Svc can not talk us through to diagnose to know whether it is worth doing ourselves or calling their authorized repair center. Decent dishwasher for 2 yrs, but $600 is too much money for only 2 yrs of use.
