I just put a new Klein tool into my bag of tricks. This tool is primarily used for working with metal air ducting. I would say it is a heating and air conditioners number one tool to reach for when helping to crimp seams. I am planning on using this tool for a number of task. In the past I have had the need to bend brackets or some thin sheet metal. I use to use my vise and a hammer or a pair of vise grips to complete this type of work. I was able to get the job done but it wasn’t pretty. I have done a little experimenting in the garage and found with this new Klein tool and my bench vise I can bend 24 gauge sheet metal very clean. I do have some length limitations but I can get the results I need. I’m planning on making some wooden window boxes and I need to make some metal bins to go inside to protect the wood from moisture. I can also see me bending some roof flashings and other similar jobs around the house. Now getting back to the actual tool, it has a durable finish and the molded grips feel comfortable in your hand. I haven’t used it much yet, but the pivot points look strong and durable. I feel they will last for many years. Another neat feature is when you compress the tool onto a piece of metal, you can flip a lever and lock it in place. The tool doesn’t lock onto the metal completely because actually it locks at about an eighth inch gap. I have also bent some heavier metal brackets, I would not suggest doing this because that is not the recommended use of thickness. I almost forgot the jaws have a patterned grip on the inside that helps hold your metal. The only maintenance this tool needs is some penetration lubricant on the pivot points to keep them from ever locking up. You should always do this to all your tools to keep them in tip top condition. Overall I am very pleased with the performance and comfort of my new Klein tool. I can’t wait to get back to work on some projects.

Klein Tools 3 in. Straight Hand Seamer is very well made with Klein quality. Its solidly done all steel construction, no wobble in the jaws, has a heft that indicates it can hold up to heavy rough use. It has a compound leverage mechanism rated for 22 gauge steel. Comes with a comfortable cushion handle for long day use and has contours or bumps on the handle to quickly position your fingers. They are excellent for on-site uses like bending flashing and corners. It comes with the usual 1/4-inch indent markings, here with notches, for the work to go faster. Its is a must have tool for this kind of work in the field. Klein makes tools that's worth getting because they are built to last.

Klein Quality
As always Klein quality came through again. The one thing I want to point out is the rough surface on the jaws. It is advertised but I missed that part. I use seamers to make body panels for race cars and this pair just wont work. They cause quite a bit of damage to finished surfaces. Absolutely perfect for hidden seams or bare sheet metal! Not so good pre painted sheets.

Another top notch Klein product. There's not much I can say about a hand seamer other than it does the job i need it to do. I have not owned this tool long enough to speak on its durability. Luv the one hand lock, grips are comfortable .I will say this, if it was to mysteriously disappear or walk out of my tool bag I would definitely replace it with the same model. This item is made in Taiwan.

The Klein Tools 3 in. Straight Hand Seamer is a notch above the rest. The reason is because this model has a lightly textured finish on the surface of the lips. My other straight seamer has a smooth surface and sometimes slips when we are working in the field especially if we get caught in a rain storm. I like the feel of the hand grips in my hands, very comfortable grips to work with, without making my hands cramp up. It stands up to the Klein reputation of high quality tools. You won't be disappointed.

Gadgetman DIY scale of well-made tool. The Klein Tools Straight Hand Seamer is made for working with sheet metal. The compound-leverage mechanism and convenient self-opening latch is comparable to a vice grip type product. The 3 in. steel jaw is notched in 1/4 in. increments for accurate bending measurements. Comfortable, contoured grips cover durable, all-steel construction for long life and durability. I use them in my sewing room when working with light weight materials that ae becoming harder to pinch. They have also been used for clamps in my wood working area.

Really good product. This seamer made it super easy to make some step flashing and any other bends for a roof job I did. All my bends were on the money. Also used to help create a small cover for my client for their cable box outside that was on the side of their home. Klein always makes excellent products and this is no different. If you need to fold some metal in a particular way this thing is perfect for the job. Made well and I can tell it’s going to last a long time. Just holding it in your hand you know it’s a well made product. Many more uses to come.

The key to working with sheet metal is having the right tools, and in my experience, you cant go wrong with the Klein brand. This tool is made of top quality materials, and feels good to the grip. The spring action is smooth and easy flowing, allowing you to work the sheet metal with ease. I really like the locking mechanism, as to unlock it, you just squeeze the handle, and to lock it just pull the lock back down into place. A good quality tool like this that works smoothly right out of the package is worth every penny.

This hand seamer is a good tool to have if you're working with sheet metal. First, the handle is robust and padded so there's less wear and tear on your hand. Second, the jaw is closed by bolts, not rivets, so you adjust it when (not if) it becomes loose- other seamers I've seen use rivets. Next, the plates used in the jaw are robust without being damaging to your sheet metal. I used this on some fascia for my porch and it worked well.
