I bought the clamp for my personal (not commercial or job-related) use and after only a couple of uses, the plastic jaw broke right where the name Klein is. This has to be a design defect in the clamp or a defect in the plastic. There doesn't appear to be any warranty on it.

Klein Temperature Pipe Clamp, has worked well for my use. It comes with a banana plug adapter for the K -type plus so it is compatible with most meters that have temperature capabilities. It’s rage is -4 to 200 degrees F. and 1/4” to 1 3/8 diameter pipe. With a 40”long flexible lead. Designed for HVAC use but for myself has been very useful for pool solar use along with working on vehicles. Be advised though the clamp is plastic .I wish the clamp was bigger giving it a larger range of pipe sizes. Additionally the Banana plug adapter failed on my first use, the contacts won’t hold the K plug. I do have several adapters so this wasn’t an issue for me and the clamp worked fine. I can’t see any mention of warranty or how to get warranty other then returning the unit if something goes wrong.

Intended for making hands-free temperature measurements on piping from ¼ inch to 1-3/8 inch in diameter, especially HVAC applications, this clamp on thermocouple (Type K) is fabricated from molded thermoplastic parts, and incorporates a thermocouple sensor using polished metal contact pads in the jaws of a spring loaded clamp. The contact pads, which appear to be stainless steel (though slightly magnetic and not specifically identified in the manufacturer’s instruction card), have two “dimples” in their faces, ostensibly to ensure intimate contact with the surface being measured. The spring appears to be substantial, providing sufficient clamping force without requiring too much effort to install on the pipe under test. The integral 40 inch long cable is terminated in a standard flat-bladed thermocouple plug, but an adapter is provided if one has a meter requiring banana plug input. The cable insulation is not identified for high temperature exposure which may require care when in use. Additionally, where the cable is routed to the thermocouple in the jaw, the only mechanical protection provided where it can come into contact with the pipes being measured (or other surface) while installing the clamp is a piece of plastic sleeving. When put into use to measure the temperature of a pipe (a hot water pipe was used for testing) the results were four (4) to five (5) degrees F higher than two other Type K reference sensors (see photos). For comparison, the three sensors were placed in the cool air stream from an air conditioner. The clamp on was again reading higher than the reference probes ( 42 degrees F vs. 39-40 degrees F). It was observed that the response time of the sensor to temperature changes was far from instantaneous, requiring a wait for a steady state reading. This was possibly due to the mass surrounding the jaw inserts and the thermal properties of the (apparent) stainless steel jaw insert. With a reasonable amount of care (don’t just throw it into your tool bag) and an awareness of possible absolute inaccuracy this accessory will probably be adequate for many users. With the Klein name on it, one expects a more robust construction (coil-cord, silicone leads perhaps).

Klein Tools Brand, K Type Temperature Pipe Clamp for Digital Multimeter is a well-made tool and will work with all K temperature reading instruments. The spring tension is strong to insure good contact with the surface temperature being measured. I use my Klein Tools Brand, K Type Temperature Pipe Clamp with the meter I use for checking and charging R410a refrigeration systems that can only be properly charged by measure superheat temperatures.

This Klein K-type temperature pipe clamp fits pipes from 1/4” to 1 3/8”. It’s temperature range is -4F to 212F. This accessory will work with Klein’s HVAC Digital multimeters and clamp multimeters that measure temperature. It will also work with most other brands of meters that measure temperature. The leads on the probe measure 40”. A banana plug adapter comes with this unit. To use, simply plug the adapter into a temperature reading multimeter, plug the pipe clamp into the adapter and set the meter to read temperature. Attach the spring clamp to any pipe from 1/4” to 1 3/8” and read the temperature. Easy and accurate to use.

Took 5 days to come didn’t work.

The clamp worked perfectly and gives me good accurate results.

I BOUGHT THIS UNIT TO GET E MORE ACCURATE READING EVEN THOUGH THE UNIT WORKS GREAT THE MATERIAL IS REALLY CRAPPY, IT DEVELOPED TWO CRACKS ROGHT AT THE JAW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LETTER "K" ON SIDE AND THE OTHER SIDE RIGHT THRU THE WHOLE UNIT 3 CRACKS.

Very useful tool for air conditioning repair

Works well, temperature reported looks to be accurate. Can be used with digital multimeter or instrument that uses a K type thermocouple.

I've had two of these clamps. The plastic is so cheap, it can't stand up to the force of its own spring. Can't see myself buying a third one.

Bought this as a replacement for one that was lost in a fire. This should work fine just like the last one I had. Great price though as the original was almost twice the price I got this one for.

I use this on 3/8" copper. Doesn't clamp as snug as I would like as it's really made for larger diameter. Need to wiggle a little to find sweet spot. Not exactly what I was wanted, but acceptable.

It has huge cracks. And it’s hard to open.

Klein Temp Pipe Clamp with adapter works great!

It was kind of weak.

Wish the plastic will be more harder but time will tell if it break.

Poor quality shattered in a week will go with Fieldpiece.
