This is the kind of tool, that once you own a clamp meter, you wonder how you ever did without it. It makes the measurement of both current and frequency far simpler and less intrusive than splitting wires, and repairing them. I found that measurements I wanted, but was loathe to take due to the cosmetic issue of cutting the insulation and/or wires and the hassle of splitting the lines, I now frequently do because it is so easy and non-intrusive. Although the literature with the tool does not mention it, this will measure both current and frequency. Frequency can be detected on a live circuit even if the device is not drawing current as well.
The 10x reading has to always be remembered when selecting the range. The 120V water cooler plugged into the device shown in the picture went OL on the 4A setting of my Klein meter, but displayed nicely on the 40A and 400A settings. Be careful on precision assumptions. The same water cooler read 1.307A on the 40A range using the line splitter and 1.26A on the 400A setting a second later. The difference is less than a 1/10th of an amp.
Putting the splitter in the case of my clamp meter was possible but tight. It would be nice if the case had a little more room to make it a bit easier, but it did fit and I always put the line splitter in the case as it is often used.
It's very light, and although I've had this only 3 months, it's come in very handy on many occasions. It also seems quite durable.
All in all, I highly recommend this tool for anyone with a clamp meter. I can't imagine not having it.
