We had a front door custom made and added the Aura lock. The carpenter had a difficult time getting the front and back together correctly. It is in now and works as it should. Just got done setting up all the options, very happy with all those!

        garbage in a box
This lock is garbage. It eats through batteries in about 30 days. No where bear the time the specs reference. It will only close if you pull the door to help it. I have had it for about 7 months. In that time I have changed the batteries 5 times. I finally just gave up. I went to change the batteries today and its power draw is so bad that it destryed the batteries I installed last and leaked battery acid everywhere, rendering itself useless in the process. Now i have to go spend more money on another crappy Kwikset lock because I can’t afford to re-key me entire house right now. Garbage. Beware

        Hello Angrydooruser,
We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and please know that we're here to help you. Typically fresh alkaline batteries last 6 months depending on usage. To improve battery life, we recommend checking that your phone is running the latest Kwikset app version and that your lock has the most recent firmware installed. Additionally, please ensure that your router is compatible with the Halo by checking our compatibility list on the Kwikset website. Also, please check the door alignment, that the door jamb hole is at least 1 inch deep, and the long mounting bolts on the mounting plate are not too tight to prevent the latch from jamming. Our Support Team is available to help with one-on-one troubleshooting and warranty assistance; please contact us at 1-800-327-5625. We hope to hear from you soon!

The Kwikset Halo Touch is at best a work in progress. When I got this lock I thought it was going to be a great addition to my home, but unfortunately it has several shortcomings that make it mediocre at best. I'll go over the good points first, then the bad. INSTALLATION: The lock comes well packaged with clearly marked parts compartments and great instructions. The hardware installation took about 10 minutes. The motorized deadbolt will need to operate without obstruction, if it rubs the doorframe you will need to adjust your door in order for it to operate properly. The software was straightforward and had good instructions. Adding the lock to my account and adding three users took about 20 minutes. The fingerprint enrollment process requires you to place your finger on the sensor three times in order to get a good read. All of the fingerprint info is stored in the lock itself and not in the app or in the cloud. If you have more than one of these locks you will need to enroll everyone on each lock separately, there is no way top copy users between locks. OPERATION: The lock responds immediately to a finger placed on the sensor. There is no perceivable delay between finger placement and the door unlocking. No internet connection is required for the lock to work, so it will function during a power failure or internet outage. To lock the door you simply touch the sensor with any finger. Anyone can lock the door whether enrolled or not. This can be a bit annoying if you bump the sensor with your finger while closing the door and it locks when you don't want it to. You can set the lock to lock automatically after a delay between thirty seconds and ten minutes. It integrates with Alexa so you can lock & unlock the door just by using your voice. Anyone can lock the door, but to unlock it first you need to enable voice commands in the Alexa app and enter a four digit code. You then speak the code when prompted to unlock the door. THE BAD: This lock eats batteries faster than cookie monster can eat a plate of cookies. The original four alkaline AA batteries that came with the lock lasted about a week. I replaced the batteries with four lithium AA batteries. I thought I'd be good for about six months. I was wrong. About three weeks later the lock stopped opening, even though the battery level in the app said 60%. I checked the batteries with a tester and two of the four were almost completely dead and the other two were weak. At this rate the lock will cost over $50 a year in batteries if you use lithium. I have opted to use NiMh rechargeable batteries. I have only been using them for several days so I can't say how long they will last. MORE BAD: If your hands are even the slightest bit damp or wet you can forget about getting into your house. Make sure you have your phone with you so you can use the app to unlock the door. The app can take about 15 seconds to respond when unlocking or locking the door, so if its pouring rain you'll be soaked before the door opens. EVEN MORE BAD: The app service has gone offline at least twice that I am aware of in the month I have had this lock. This means that if you can't open the lock with your fingerprint you won't be able to open the lock with the app either. You'll be locked out unless you have your key with you. My wife was locked out of the house twice since I installed this lock. Let's just say she was less than pleased. We have both resorted to carrying the key, just in case. My previous lock was a Schlage electronic door lock. It wasn't connected to the internet, required you to type a 4 digit code and turn the deadbolt manually. The single 9v lithium battery lasted over a year and no one was EVER locked out of the house. I never carried the key, heck I don't even know where the key to that lock is. I really wanted to love this lock, but as mentioned above it has many shortcomings that make it less than ideal as a lock for your home, unless you like standing out in the rain and spending your hard earned cash on batteries. I'd definitely not recommend this lock because of these issues.

          Hello Kev840,

We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, and here are some steps for optimal performance from the Halo Touch.
          1. To ensure the lock is installed correctly and the lock does not jam, and to prevent battery drainage, please check your door alignment and verify the long mounting bolts are not too tight on the mounting plate. Also, please ensure that your door jamb hole is at least 1 inch deep to prevent jamming.
          2. Fresh alkaline should last up to six months, depending on usage. To improve battery life, please ensure that you're using a compatible router with your locks. Our list of compatible routers is available on the Kwikset website under Halo Support.
          3. For the best response from the fingerprint reader, please make sure that both your fingers and the reader are clean from any oils or lotions. We recommend wiping down the lock with a clean, dry cloth. If you are still experiencing the fingerprint reader not reading your print correctly, we suggest reprogramming your fingerprints on the lock with clean, dry hands.
If there's any additional assistance we can provide, please know that our Support Team is more than happy to further assist you at 1-800-327-5625.

          Easy installation, excellent experience
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This home improvement project had me walking away exaggerating my skills as a locksmith. Setup is quick and easy with a guided installation through the app. The visuals are detailed and tailored to the particulars of the door (established by a series of multiple choice questions). Plus, all of the individual components come organized in numbered boxes, making the parts easy to identify and locate with each subsequent direction. You even have the option to use the key it comes with or rekey the lock so that it works with your existing key. The completed look is aesthetically pleasing. The design, shape and bronze finish are beautiful and polished. I have been using the lock for a few weeks and thus far I am impressed that it works consistently. Moreover, I love the ease of not having to search for my keys, confident that I always have a means of access on my person whether it's key, fingerprint, or phone. The effortlessness extends to locking the door; when exiting I can just tap the scanner to lock (anyone can do this, it does not have to be a registered print). Most importantly, the ease does not compromise on my feelings of safety and security. Apart from the device itself, the thing I enjoy most about the experience is the app. It is straightforward and helps keep the details organized. I can set up profiles for 50 users with multiple recorded prints per user. It also allows me to tailor the access of individual profiles by hours, date, or weekday and time. It allows me to check on the status of the lock remotely and adjust accordingly. It also maintains an activity log and identifies whose fingerprint was used to open/lock the door. The app can also be used to pair with Google Assistant and to set up an auto-lock feature. If that wasn't enough, the app includes a battery icon that informs me of how much battery life is left on the lock. Initially, I was frustrated by the alert on the lock anytime the door was locked/unlocked, but found that the chime was easily silenced by an option in the app. The only issue I encountered was an inability to register my son's fingerprint. Granted, his fingers are small and don't cover the scanner in its entirety. Presumably, as he grows, this problem will be eliminated. Truth be told, this is not my first foray into the world of smart locks. However, this is so easily integrated into the existing setup that it is hands down the best experience I've had with a product of this variety and would be the first brand I'd recommend.

            Love this Deadbolt lock
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this lock. It works really well. I love how it tells you when someone uses the lock. It even tells you if they use a key. I also love how you can set up multiple people and you can set up a time frame. This is really useful if you have someone coming to visit for a short period of time and don't want to give them a key. It is also good if you have kids coming home during certain times of the day, so you can give them access during that time. I also love that you can unlock and lock it remotely, and check to see if it is locked or not. It was pretty easy to set up. The instructions are written well, and the App also helps you set it up. The only issue I found is on a couple of my younger kids, the finger print did not work the first time, so we had to program it twice. Overall, I would highly recommend this lock to anyone looking for a deadbolt lock.

              Easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just installed the Kwikset Halo touch fingerprint smart lock. Very easy and quick to install. The satin nickel finish and shape are very attractive. The features are great. You can have up to 50 users. Load the app on your phone and your ready to go. I like that I can lock or unlock it remotely wherever I’m at. Also goes with a traditional key. I like that I do not have to remember a code, just out my finger on it and it opens. I highly recommend this.

                    A disappointment
I have no idea how this lock is highly rated, mine does not do anything it states it can do most of the time, and if it does it struggles. Unlocking your door remotely forget it, unlocking it using your app forget it, inputting users names for their own codes forget it updating the lock forget it having a history of access to the lock forget that too. This lock is a paper weight.

I've been waiting for fingerprint sensors to become available in a traditional style and finish. The clean, elegant appearance of this Halo model marries nicely to my 100 year old bungalow door and gives me keyless access without compromising my historic entryway with a keypad. It's also built to the highest residential lock standard and is definitely beefier than standard deadbolts. Installation is straightforward. It will replace an U.S. standard deadbolt perfectly on a range of door sizes. A precise bolt alignment into the jamb is essential given that any resistance in motor locking will compromise the drive motor and potentially fail to lock the door. Hats off to Kwikset for chamfering the bolt end, allowing it to funnel into a misaligned jamb. Fingerprint setup is a breeze, and cycling the lock with the sensor has so far been flawless in my month of ownership. The motor is a bit noisy but no big deal. The app is nothing special and demands GPS location to be on before opening. But it offers the essential features including auto lock, remote operation, lock use history, and battery status. The interior motor side allows easy tool-free battery change, and although the housing is a bit large, it's not ugly. After a month of 1-3x daily fingerprint cycles, the fresh alkalines I installed are down to 75%. Finally, I've never used Kwikset's self re-key feature, but it's been around a while and is clearly proven. It makes it easy and inexpensive to rekey the lock yourself to match other KW1 keys or quickly secure the home from existing key use.

Ok, so now that this lock is actually installed, I love it. I've been using it for 4-5 days now & both the thumb print reader and the app are working perfectly. I love not having to dig my keys out of my purse to open the door & I could see that the lock/unlock notifications from the app would be very reassuring for parents who's kids ride the bus or if you have a dogsitter. My only complaint on this item (which I still wholeheartedly recommend), was the installation. Now, installation is not especially difficult if everything is configured correctly, but mine was not. I ended up having to call support twice - once because the triangle piece that turns the lock wasn't lining up properly as outlined in the directions (FYI: you can just turn it hard in the other direction until it lines up. It won't break it.), and the next because even after that was fixed the lock was turning the wrong direction when I hit unlock. Now, to their credit, their support staff was very helpful and it only took 10ish minutes of wait time each call. However, due to me installing & uninstalling it several times, one of the two screws that secures it in place got cross threaded and wouldn't tighten all the way. While that's not usually a big deal, you don't want a lock to be wobbly & the screws that come with the lock are 28-pitch fine thread, so replacements are very hard to come by. I obviously tried Home Depot & also the local speciality store to no avail. As such, I ended up having to shim it with rubber washers. I only mention this to warn anyone who runs into a similar issue - you can reprogram it to turn a different way, just call & ask for assistance & be careful installing & uninstalling.

Ok so this lock is a replacement of our KEVO lock. The biggest change is the fingerprint touch instead of phone tap along with being able to connect without a third party hub or the hub required for advanced use of the KEVO. the lock is just about the same in style and appearance and manual performance. You can also enjoy the convenience of the smartkey to key this to and existing key for your house. Installing the lock is pretty straightforward as deadbolts go other than connecting the harness together pretty normal. It took me about 15 minutes to remove the old and install the new Halo Touch. Manually with a key or the inside lever its smooth and solid. Keying is simple and easy with the smart key function taking more time to read the instructions then perform the task. We love the matching hardware to our Kwickset door set. The App, Its rated 2.5 stars at this point. Kind of clunky to set up but does work. Setting up others is what i don't like and hope in the future the app is expanded to do more things with less effort. It seems that each member , this is what they call extra access keys needs to get the app and join the system , but at this point the fingerprint access is through your phone and they need to be present to get this loaded and only available on the admin account. I'm always giving out a digital key for a service person for one time use on our KEVO but I guess i'll need to answer a request and open it remotely thru my app for this type of access. I wish the Kevo worked thru this app as we have a few installed which needs a different app. The finger print open function works very well . But I've seen several offline messages then having to open the app and open lock thru the app. The app is slow to open probably faster to either get the key out or go to another door. Sometimes there is a 5 to 10 second lag after the app open is activated to unlock the door. So far so good just bumps in the road learning etc. I hope with the Kwickset Kevo system it gets better over time for usability. We do like the fingerprint function but getting there for our kids has been a chore getting them to sign up get the app and fingerprint loaded. Time will tell if this system is a keeper or back to the Kevo or whatever is next.

This is a great way to improve your home security and home automation. The lock is easy to install and set up and integrates easily with Alexa and Home Assistant for voice control and Kwikset’s app control from your mobile phone or tablet. It is also very easy to re-key to your existing door lock key if you don’t want to use the new physical key that comes with the lock. The two big benefits of this lock for us are (i) opening the door with a fingertip scan when carrying several bags of groceries instead of fumbling around to find the door key and (ii) integration with our Home Assistant that simplifies making sure our home is secure at night or when we are away. Installation takes about 20 minutes and involves removing your existing deadbolt and installing the Kwikset deadbolt in its place along with new striker plates and screws in the door frame (the latter being optional as I just left my existing striker plate in place). Once the deadbolt is physically installed, you install the 4 AA batteries (which are included) and then use Bluetooth to pair the lock with your mobile device. You also let the lock figure out whether it is installed in a left hand or right hand opening door, which it does automatically. The lock will then look for updates and install any before allowing you to complete the set up using the Kwikset app on your phone. The paper instructions included with the lock are very clear, concise and easy to follow. The Kwikset app allows you to connect the lock to your wifi router and name the lock (front door, back door etc.) and supports multiple separate locks around the home (backdoor, patio etc.). It also allows new users to be added (it can support up to 50 different users) with two fingerprints for each user. Scanning a fingerprint takes a few scans of the finger so the lock can build up a picture of the print so that it you don’t have to have your finger in exactly one position when trying to open the door. The Kwikset app allows you to monitor remaining battery life and also logs each time the lock is locked or unlocked by a particular user. It can also send notifications to your mobile device when the lock is locked or unlocked however we muted these on our phone and just rely on the history log to monitor the usage if necessary. The lock has a built in LED light that glows blue while the fingerprint is being scanned and then turns to green when the lock is opening, orange when it is closing and red if it has misread your print or there is a fault with the deadbolt. With the lock set up using the Kwikset app, you can then integrate it with your Alexa or Home Assistant. A word of advice – in order to get your Home Assistant to be able to operate the lock, the deadbolt must physically be unlocked otherwise the app will not allow you to access the home assistant integration. In order to activate the unlock-by-voice feature, you also have to set up a 4 digit PIN which needs to be included when you are asking your home assistant to unlock the deadbolt. Once the lock is integrated with the Home Assistant, you can use voice control from your phone, tablet or home hub to control the door lock. You can also include it in a nightly set of security commands such as switching off lights, arming the burglar alarm and making sure the doors are locked. The lock also comes with two physical keys as well as a small insert that allows the tumblers in the deadbolt lock cylinder to be re-keyed to your existing home door locks. Re-keying is very simple and takes 30 seconds following the instructions that come with the re-keying insert. The physical key also allows you to unlock the deadbolt in the event of a power outage or when the lock’s four AA batteries are depleted. The lock has a 12 month warranty.

Kwikset Halo Touch Venetian Bronze Traditional Fingerprint Wi-Fi Electronic Smart Lock Deadbolt Featuring SmartKey Security. Very easy installation, but follow the steps and dont insert the battery pack until that step comes. Each parts box is number to follow along with the instructions, no special tools needed. You will need a cell phone with Bluetooth, WiFi, location, the only way to add fingerprints is with the app. The app takes a little time to set up, as a account is needed, you will recd text or emails with codes to set up. After that you connect to the lock with Bluetooth and it will check for a firmware upgrades. From there you add fingerprints which scans 3 .times to complete! Lock works with Echo Dot and Google home too, To add to Echo Dot, you need to add to the Echo app as a device. works slick! This was a upgrade from my old push button Kwikset and was a nice upgrade, very please with unit.

I was looking for a front door lock that would allow me to use a fingerrprint instead of a key and the Kwikset Halo Touch Satin Nickel Traditional Fingerprint Wi-Fi Electronic Smart Lock Deadbolt Featuring SmartKey Security is a great lock that worked well. The instructions for installation are very good, and this deadbolt allows two different distanced from the door jam distances to the lock. In my case I had to use the longer version by twisting the Deadbolt lock to increase the length. It took me about 20 minutes to install the lock. The only issue I had was from setting up the App. It kept saying the lock was already linked. After following online instructions to factory reset the lock, I was able finally able to get it working. The fingerprint work great, and I set up several of them. The actual look of the lock is very good, and looks very modern. The slide out design of the batteries makes it easy to replace them when they are low on power. The construction was also very solid and much heavier duty then the lock deadbolt it replaced. I do wish it has some sort of foam/gasket seal for air leakage but I am going to make one out of the Foam outlet covers.

This makes you feel like James Bond. Coming up to your door, scanning your fingerprint and proceeding to enter is quite honestly the coolest thing ever. Installation was a breeze. Very simple. Boxes are numbered according to the steps they pertain to, so don't open them until you get to that particular step so as to not use the wrong hardware. The hardest part was making the deadbolt strike plate fit as my original one was a different shape. The original cutout needed to be extended to make the new strike plate fit, that was accomplished using a chisel and just chipping away some extra wood to make space for the new strike plate. When installing the front face of the deadbolt, use some blue painters tape to secure it to the door as you install it. I had my faceplate fall off during install and it ended up putting some unfortunate marks and scratches on the face plate, but everything still works as it should. One thing I do really like is that the deadbolt secures to itself without having to drill extra holes into the door for support as compared to an older style "smart" door lock that this one is replacing. The initial setup with the app was extremely straightforward walking you step by step through the setup process.  Upon first running through the setup, there was a firmware update for the door lock which took a couple of minutes, but went smoothly overall.  The app is painfully slow during setup of the door lock. Had a few issues with the smart lock not detecting the Bluetooth connection, but once it connected it was fine. Also noticed that locking/unlocking the dead bolt through the app has a significant delay between pressing the button on the app and the dead bolt actually unlocking/locking. After a few days these seem to be intermittent, for I've had days when pressing the lock/unlock button on the app and the actual deadbolt locking/unlocking are close to instantaneous and other times it takes a couple of seconds. However, using your finger on the scanner has always been instantaneous. I would also like to mention that we've had no issues with the finger being scanned. Haven't been able to figure out how to disable notifications. Every time the door is locked and unlocked you will get a notice (you might be able to turn these off straight from your phone, but there was no option to choose when to be notified in the kwikset app). This gets a bit annoying on a high traffic door as it's always sending alerts to the phone. I ended up logging out of the app and just logging in when I need to add users or unlock the lock.  Rekeying the lock with the included SmartKey is awesome and took all of 10 seconds to switch the key from the included key to our current house key.

The Halo Touch smart lock is easy to install. It took me about 30 minutes to remove the old lock and install this. The lock can be locked and unlocked by using the stored fingerprint, key from outside or turning the knob from inside. The only reason this lock did not get a 5-star rating is because it only works with google and Alexa assistants. I have two other Kwikset smart locks and they are z-wave compatible. Due to that, I was able to pair them with Ring security app making it easy to manage the locks and the security system from a single app. This is hoping Kwikset will consider adding that connection to the lock in the future. I am very happy with the appearance and quality of the lock.

The Kwikset Halo deadbolt fingerprint lock has made life much easier. My entire family can leave the house without a set of keys and be able to enter again. It locks after touching the pad and I can also program it to lock after a certain period of time once it is unlocked. I love that feature! It is simple to enter with a fingerprint. Adults and older children have had no issues. My 6 year old has problems positioning his finger properly. When this happens, it temporarily locks the user out to make sure someone isn't tampering with it. That has been frustrating but it will be a learning experience for him. I also love the smartkey feature. I can change the manual lock to match my existing key. Installation was simple. Instructions were clear. Each piece was boxed and clearly marked according to the step. I really appreciate this. Once it is installed on the door, I had to download and app on my phone, setup a profile, and complete steps to complete the install. I like how it sends notifications to me when the door locks or unlocks. I look forward to setting up dogsitters and houseguest so they can have temporary access.

The Halo Touch fingerprint lock allows you to simply use your fingerprint to lock and unlock your door. The Halo Touch has Wi-Fi built in that connects directly to your home Wi-Fi network and smart phone for a secure smart home that does not require a third party smart home hub or subscription. With up to 100 fingerprints, 2 different prints can be added per person for a total of 50 users. You can give access to your family and friends with their fingerprint and manage access through the Kwikset app. This single cylinder deadbolt can be locked or unlocked by using fingerprint or key from outside as well as the turn button from the inside. The venetian bronze finish is hand rubbed. We are very pleased with this lock, we don't have to worry about getting out a key to get in the house.

The Kwikset Halo Touch lock is a great lock for anyone looking for added security and a smart lock that is easy to use and easy to set up. I was able to replace my original lock with this one in less than 15 minutes, and after a firmware update, was able to get the app and my fingerprints set up in another 15 minutes. Once set up, the lock is really easy to use. It reads my fingerprint very quickly, and I haven't experienced any false positives (or false negatives) in my testing. The app allows you to set up up to 50 different users, and allows you to enable or disable each one individually, or even set certain days or times that each user is able to unlock the lock. You can also set the lock to auto-lock after a certain amount of time, or, by pairing it with a google home/alexa device, you can set schedules for the lock also. The app is very simplistic, but this makes it very easy to use. I would highly recommend this lock. In my opinion, it's a more elegant solution than a touch pad, and it's faster too.

This is a review of the Halo touch venetian bronze traditional fingerprint WiFi electronic smart lock deadbolt featuring smartly security. NO MORE GETTING LOCKED OUT OF THE HOUSE. If you are drawn to technology then this is absolutely something you will love and honestly need. Fingerprint technology is here for the average home. This has that and more, keep reading to see what it can do for you and how you need to get this installed. This is amazing technology and is working well on one of our back doors. Being able to unlock the deadbolt just using our finger print is such a blessing, no more getting locked out of the house. Our grandchild will be added to our list of 50 people who can use their prints to open the door. The physical installation of the lock was extremely easy but we did follow the instructions to ensure we did it in the correct order. The instructions were probably the best I have ever seen, they surely raised the bar for great installation instructions. Ensure you connect the wire at the correct time. 4 Batteries are required, they were included. These batteries will power the lock. The built in wifi works without any third party device or subscription, works directly with your Wi-fi network and smart phone. This lock can hold up to 100 finger prints for as many as 50 different people. This lock also includes the standard key option to lock and unlock the smart lock deadbolt. Can be rekeyed to match the other Kwikset locks that we bought at Home Depot. The venetian bronze color is great and matches the color scheme that we are migrating all our locks to. It also Locks and unlocks with a smartphone. We installed the lock and have used the smart rekeying so that the new deadbolt is keyed the same as our other locks. The last instruction tells us that we need to do several more things to get the fingerprints entered into the phone. Now it gets a little more difficult, but stick with it, I ensure you it was worth it for us. At this point I need to say - this process is very technical and will appeal to many people. If you do not like new technology then some help at this point might be good. My wife and I have been software developers all our life These steps we had to take were still a little bit of a challenge for us, but we got through it. Once you download the App, it does guide you through this process: 1) We downloaded the App for the lock onto our smart phone 2) We needed to set up an account to manage the locks 3) Once the account was set up, we paired the lock to the smart phone 4) This had several sub steps to go through 5) The firmware on the lock had to be updated, this took about 15 minutes 6) We needed to name the door 7) Then while using our phone, the lock needs to be connected to our WiFi router. For this you have to know your WiFi router ID name and the WiFi password 8) At this point we still have not even got to entering the fingerprints to the lock. 9) Hurray, now we get to start scanning our finger prints. To enter a new set of fingerprints you need to log into the App account using your phone, but connected through WiFi 10) It took several attempts but we finally got our right and left thumb prints registered. Be patient and keep trying. 11) For some reason to complete the scan on each finger print we had to lift and repress down on the scanner with our finger tip. This took many many times. 12) Hurray we have success, we are now able to lock and unlock this deadbolt with our fingerprints…. 13) The next step, we need to get the fingerprints of our adult children entered and our grandchildren’s prints entered. 14) We were able to scan our 7 year old grandson's finger prints, so he can now unlock the back door. End results, we now have 3 ways to lock and unlock this deadbolt a) We can use our registered finger prints b) Use the smart phone c) Use the manual lock One really cool thing with the smartphone is that we can see the status of the lock - is it locked or unlocked. There are many options from this App. This process was not easy and took us over 2 hours but end results, it was worth it. Next up is to add our children and grandchildren’s finger prints to lock and unlock this backdoor. If someone who has a fingerprint user falls out of favor, you can delete their fingerprint access very easily through the smartphone app. **Note: Anyone can lock the door regardless of them being one of the scanned fingerprints. We installed this at a door that has a cover so this will not get rained on. I am sure this is designed to handle some rain, none the less we wanted this cool technology to be under a cover.

This Kwikset Halo Touch Fingerprint Smart Lock is way cool and it is easy to install. Obviously, you don't need to use a traditional key to open your new lock but if, for whatever reason, you are unable to get in with your fingerprint, it comes with a set of two keys to use for backup. The "Smart Key" system allows you to easily re-key this lock to any key you may already own (see video). Programming it is a challenge but doable. There are a lot of steps and it took me over an hour to program. To get it to work properly, you must use a Bluetooth enabled smartphone and you have to know the password to your router on your household wi-fi. It looks good, if a little larger than your old deadbolt faces. It is so fantastic to just place your thumb (or any other finger) on the little round window, and like magic the deadbolt slides open. Hit it again and it slides shut. You can program up to 100 fingerprints so you can have everyone in your family in it. You can also program multiple fingers so you can open it with your thumb (which I found easiest to use) or any of your other fingers, allowing you to use whichever finger is easiest when your coming in the door with a armload of groceries. You can also allow your neighbors access if you desire. You can even lock and unlock it remotely with your phone from virtually anywhere in the world as long as there is Internet access available. The app creates a history log of every time it is locked or unlock, the method used, and who entered. It even logs errors if someone unauthorized tries to use it. We are happy to have this new source of entry to our home that is so handy when your hands are full.

The Quikset Halo Touch Smart Lock is a fingerprint activated deadbolt that adds convenience, a new level of individual safety (from a time standpoint) for locking and unlocking a door plus it’s just plain cool! I wanted the Contemporary style because it matches my older door hardware. The installation instructions are clear and the process took less than a half hour needing only Phillips screwdriver. I did have some issues connecting to my router’s Bluetooth system after I added the correct Quikset App to my phone (my fault - “old guy not patient enough with the App’s set up instructions”) that were quickly remedied by Qwikset’s Help Desk. I also discussed the Smart Lock’s security from a hacking standpoint and came away totally reassured after my discussions with the Help Desk Tech. The App also lets you lock and unlock your door remotely as well as alerting you each time the deadbolt locks and unlocks. It can be programmed to recognize different fingerprints (great if you have kids) and it comes with two regular keys so that can be used in the traditional (insert key, lock or unlock) way. I integrated it with Alexa but it also can be used with Google Home. Not sure how long a set of batteries (4 which are included) will last but swapping them out will be a piece of cake. So far my Halo Deadbolt is great - I really like it.

Everything you need in a keyless entry—plus a key. Installs easily in any existing deadbolt hole; you can probably use your existing strike-plate. Open and close via the app, or via Alexa/Google, or your fingerprint (save multiple for up to 50 people), or the key (which we promptly matched to our other Kwikset re-keyable locks), or—turn of the century move here—reach out and turn the knob. It took over a dozen times before the app successfully added the lock to my Kwikset account, but I believe that's mostly a result of my flaky Wi-Fi and internet connectivity. Also, when you have the phone talk to the lock via Bluetooth, the picture is accurate: hold the phone right next to it (I think it's Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE, which is only good out to a couple feet). After I figured that out and found the sweet spot between the lock and my router, the app finally finished and I had a cool new biometric lock. You can set operating hours unique to each user, and use an assistant routine to lock or unlock at a given time. The app will show you if the lock is currently locked or not. Assign your house-watcher access for the weekend and terminate it at will; you could do the same with a boyfriend/girlfriend that suddenly falls out of favor, and never have to wait to get a key back. Includes a neat animated Cylon LED effect that clearly shows "locking" or "unlocking". Matches my satin nickel handle perfectly; I'll be steadily adding these to my other doors until I can call out from my bed at night, "Alexa, lock all doors", and say goodbye forever to any more late night door lock checks because the wife won't sleep unless I do :-).

I recommend this Kwikset Halo fingerprint deadbolt. It was easy to install, works well and adds an additional layer of security. Some of the major likes we have are as follows: * The parts are all packed in separate numbered boxes and easy to identify with the directions provided. (see photo). * You do not have to drill any holes or put any surface screws into your door face. * It functions great and is very easy to use.(see demo video) * The app works with Apple or Android phones and once activated on your network it will let you know of any suspicious activity with a text or email. * It operates on 4 AA batteries that are simple to install, the first set are included with the lock. * Kwikset has good technical support in case you have any problems. I used them with a wi-fi network question and they helped me. * This lock comes with the smartkey feature that it makes it simple to key all you Kwikset locks the same. (see demo video) * matching entry door options are available for this lock.

Kwikset has made science fiction a reality with the Biometric/Fingerprint Sensor on the new Halo Touch deadbolt door lock. Kwikset engineering and design is great and the manufacturing has done well with all durable materials. The lock is battery powered and Wi-fi and Bluetooth enabled. In case the battery is running low or the Wi-Fi is out, you can use your backup smart key to open or close the door so that you will never be locked out.I really enjoy the Biometric sensor where I just put my finger and it will unlock the door. It will also lock the door by touching the sensor or you can just close the door and walk away and the door will automatically lock at the time you have set, using your Kwikset app on the smartphone. I have set it to auto-lock at 30 seconds. You can set it up to auto-lock between 30 seconds to 10 minutes. Up to 50 people can access your door with fingerprint, 2 fingers each for each person. You can also unlock the door remotely from anywhere in the world where Wi-fi is available. Using your Kwikset app, you can know who opened the door and at what time. All history is in the cloud and it is a free service. Overall, a very well designed and manufactured lockset, and I do recommend it to anyone who is interested in the new technology. I have uploaded a small video for demonstration.

                      Love it!
Easy to install, looks modern and great. Literally step by step set up instructions. Very impressed. Love the alerts when it’s been locked or unlocked. No more getting up from bed to “double check” that it’s locked, I just do it from the app. One Happy Family.
