Easy to install & easy to re-key to suit the old keys eliminating the need to have copies cut.

I am not a handyman, but I can install deadbolts and this was a breeze to install. I had not problems installing this product and it was very straightforward. The material is very good, there were no scratches on it. The keys worked fine and fit great. I hope it lasts a long time.

SmartKey option will allow you to DIY re-keying, saving time and money. It can be done in just a few minutes. With a satin chrome finish its very styl8sh looking.

This deadbolt is great quality which makes me feel like my home is protected. It was easy to install and I had no problems during the process as the instructions are clear and well-written. This lock has smartkey technology which allows you to rekey it to match another lock. It’s pretty cool! I really like this deadbolt and highly recommend it to secure your home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This round deadbolt was an easy installation cause i just replaced an older one everything was already cut out . I like this striker plate better than the one before smaller hole making it more tight when close. What i didnt like was the striker plate screws for the door they was only 1/2 " long not what you need for security had to use old screws. It has a key alike feature in case you buy more than one deadbolt, follow instructions.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a very heavy duty and nice looking deadbolt lock. It was easy to install for my husband. Took him about 15 minutes to put the lock-in and then he keyed it to fit our other outdoor buildings so we would have only one key for all. This is a great feature to be able to do that.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a Kwikset 980 Deadbolt - Keyed One Side - featuring SmartKey Security. I've got it in Satin Nickel color. It has a designer style and it's a great option to use on main doors. This has deadbolt operated by key outside and a thumb turn inside. It's easy to install with the help of screwdriver. It looks really sturdy and of great quality. I love that it is bump proof or kick-in resistant, saw/drill resistant, and is pick resistant. I feel safer with this lock on, especially when I'm alone at night. This has lifetime warranty too.

I have several rental properties and I've started using these on all the main doors (I use the 980's on other doors). Very easy to install and I have not had any problems. highly recommend you get a reset cradle in case you lose your key because you must have a working key to reset the top or bottom locks. Search youtube and learn how to use it because you will eventually need it. Great quality brand thanks

Now, if we ever go out of town, I can re-key a door or two and give a key to a neighbor and then, when we return, go back to having full security and peace of mind. Super easy to re-key after you've done it once following the simple instructions. I love the beautiful chrome finish. High quality materials. Super easy to install. I would definitely recommend!

I like the single cylinder deadbolt feature and the re-key feature is a BIG PLUS ! The silver color matches perfectly with the rest of my door hardware and the lock works perfectly. The safety features of this simple yet advanced 980 Deadbolt - Keyed One Side - featuring SmartKey lock is just what I needed and it definitely secures my home and I feel better using this lock. Lastly, I really like that if I need to, I could Re-Key the lock on my own without having to spend hundreds on a locksmith, very smart lock.

This lock was an easy install and looks very nice. I had to install the deadbolt on the bottom because the key-less lock set was just a little to tall but It worked out okay.

I feel like I should buy stock in Kwikset. I have apartments and realized I was having difficulty with changing the locks post tenant turn over. I elected to use smartkey and have been very satisfied with my experience.

This deadbolt lock is sure a good and sturdy lock. I am very pleased with how easy it was to install.

The lock was easy to install and well made. The double cylinder deadbolt went on a wrought iron gate for security. After installation the lock was keyed to the house key in seconds with the smart key feature. The smart key feature was amazingly simple and worth the price many times over.

Extremely easy to rekey to my current key. Not the easiest to put in, of course I chose not to read instructions till after I had a problem due to being a typical "I got this..." guy. READ the instructions, or at least look at the picture, its a bit of a puzzle. My main reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the price. I'm your typical working stiff and wish it had been a tad cheaper but, hey if the cost doesn't bother you its a great lock.

Other than disputing the style and price of the locks with the wife, who happens to be the one who lost her keys and the reason for buying the new deadbolts, not blaming anyone, lol. I installed these with very minimum problems, just had to trim the opening a bit. This is a better stronger deadbolt that what we originally had, hence the minor trimming. We bought 2, 1 for the front and 1 for the garage/kitchen door, I say we, but everyone knows who paid, right? I did get my moneys worth, and enjoyed teasing the wife over it. She held the door while I removed the old and installed the new. Got to give her some credit!! Get them, you will not regret it!!!!!

I was leery that this would be easy to re-key, so I did it in the store with my curious 2 yr-old "helping." It only took a minute and done. Opening the package was more difficult than the re-keying process. I chose the brand because my current house keys use the same blank. I was adding this high on the door to prevent my cabin-fever suffering 2 yr old from escaping. It isn't the prettiest design, but nice for this price point. It works smoothly, it's easy to key, I'm happy with my purchase. I would buy this again. I could actually follow the instructions! They were understandable, but it's sad that's a bonus these days.

I bought two deadbolts for a home I recently purchased. The Smartkey is very easy to rekey. I had a locksmith (Island Lock&Key WilmNC 9107995395) install them for me. The attached picture shows the old locks on top the new locks on the bottom. The new locks are working much better than the old ones.

Upgraded the hardware on my front door a week ago. I live in a nice quite subdivision in a low crime area, but I believe strongly in the safety and security of my family. I'm just now reading the other reviews about being locked out and I hope that doesn't happen to us. It makes sense what the other review said about the "Bump Guard" causing the issue. Completed the project in about 5 hours, adjusting the jamb to accommodate the thick commercial grade hinges was difficult but the Kwickset hardware was a piece of cake even setting the extra dead bolt was easier than I had anticipated with the help of a jig. Just make sure you replace all included jamb screws with longer ones to sink into the stud behind the jamb, I did this with the 5 hinges and both strike plates. Looking at it now I wish I had purchased another deadbolt for the lower portion of the door. Maybe next week:) Note: Model# 980 3 SMT K4 The boxes purchased say ANSI GRADE 1 BHMA CERTIFIED The discription online says grade 2

We have a couple of these with the rekeying feature.. This is NOT the lock for you if you bang hard on or slam doors as the anti bump tumblers will lock the cylinder just like a safe with anti jimmy feature.. Also to reset the cylinder pins you need to unlock it from the inside and stick your key and the rekey tool in the lock as instructions describe.. Not recomended for direct exposure to the elements as well and squirting in lubrication is also a bad idea.. When installing watch to make sure the small arm on the bolt mechinism does not touch the inside of the hole in the door at the top.. That will cause the bolt not to extend or retract easily if at all.. A batch of these were shipped with wood screws and not the machine screws.. The manufacturer will send you the right screws if you call or you can take the set back to the store and get another one but open it at the store to verify the hardware, they will help you .. Ours were all correct with no negitive quality issues to report..

a bit bigger than the same brand i have, but it workout. Hardware is included, which is a plus.

The lock works perfect and the fact that it was SmartKey, allows me to use same key as before. Great product
