Craft ball ice maker
I have had this refrigerator for three years now. I have had to have two of the ball icemakers replaced. They’re pieces of junk do not buy this. It’s not worth the money the ice maker, bangs and makes noise. It’s a terrible option. Do not fall for it. Do not buy it.

    A lot of money for problems just out of warranty.
    The craft ice maker is awesome. Other than that, I am already having problems with the fan motor and it is only 14months old. This is a ridiculous amount of money to pay just to have problems a year later.

      It is SAD… a good brand with a basic PROBLEM
      LG is a worldwide brand with great products, but unfortunately, the French-door refrigerator has a BASIG SHAMEFUL PROBLEM. The water filter needs a technician to be replaced. This is the second filter replacement since we bought this unit, and it is the second time that we had to call an LG technician to do something that was supposed to be so simple, changing a water filter, and worse, we have to pay the technician to do it, pay for a problem that is not ours. I’ve spoken to other LG French-door refrigerator and they have the same problem. A simple water filter replacement. How did the designers, engineers, quality control missed this simple item. One of the only things that a owner needs to do, changing a filter, and it cannot be done easily. SUCH A SHAME LG. Are we going to have to call your technician every time that the water filet needs to be replaced??? Besides paying for the filter we will always have to pay for it to be replaced? Do you really need to make money this way?

        A scheduled repair after only 3 months is not a good start...
        My refrigerator has been installed for just over three months and the craft ice maker has failed. I just scheduled a repair. This does not bode well for the long term reliability of this refrigerator. The craft ice maker, for me, is little more than a gimmick. I'm wishing I'd gone with another model or brand.

        Stay away from LG
        This is our second LG fridge. And the second whose freezer stops working for no reason. And not even during the hot summer months. The last fridge was repaired once by an LG technician. Repaired lasted months and freezer broke down again. Then we moved to a different house. And Despite struggling with this brand bedore we decided to get another LG fridge. What a bad mistake. The story repeated itself. And extended warranty was a joke as well. Stay away from LG. Don't waste thousands of dollars

          No LG
          LG has an issue with the compressor and condensation and defrost drain on their refrigerators. 2 LG techs were not able to fix the problem. Don’t buy LG.

            Getting it fixed under warranty was awful
            The craft icemaker broke within 6 months. In under a year it was making awful grinding noises, we called for service, 5 days later the fridge stopped cooling and all food spoiled and needed to be thrown out. We had to continue calling and checking in and finally after 26 days LG was able to find someone willing to come out and fix the fridge. It now works but LG refused to reimburse us for the food that was spoiled and had be thrown out and the 20+ days we went without a working fridge.

              Broke in less than a year
              We bought our fridge in January. The craft icemaker broke within 6 months and by November, the fridge had broken - we've been waiting 15 days for LG to schedule a repair since it's under warrantee, they can't find anyone in their service network willing to come out for the repair and now the fridge and freezer doesn't cool to the appropriate temperature so we can't keep any food in the fridge. LG keeps telling us to wait while they find someone. Do not buy this fridge.

                Great fridge so far, no issues.
                Had this fridge for 7 months now and no issues. I have some comments about its operation. As advertised the fridge will stop cooling if the door is left open, this can effect the ice in the door ice dispenser, as it will begin to thaw, then freeze to form a larger chunk and potential water dripping, I have read similar issues with other brands with ice dispensing through the door. This issue wasn't the fridge but a family member leaving the door open for long periods of time, the little guy now knows. I can not comment on the internal ice maker as i do not have the proper water pressure needed to form spherical ice cubes, however that are very close, i am using the 6 spherical ice option and not the 3 but prefer the large ice that is made. I would not recommend stowing milk in the door, the view panel is no where near the insulating value of a normal insulated door panel, think of your home windows vs walls during cold winters, but it is great for stowing wine, condiments, pop, etc. I noticed that the older models of the same fridge did not have the door cooling design of the latest model, i can see that being an issue. I have my fridge set to 3c for the fridge and -19c for the freezer. I do like the size of the freezer, the fridge is deep, almost forgetting items at the back. The filtered water tastes great even at the 6 month filter replacement, i am surprised with this as we go through alot of filtered water for drinking, cooking, coffee and tea, etc, as a comparison we would have to replace a brita filter ever 1.5 months or sooner as the water would not taste right. As far as issues i have is the view door panel does not record how many times it is opened, the app shows the vew panel door but it reads 0 tumes opened, since the door switch sensor(s) work as the light comes, the cooling system turns off and the water dispensor turns off, i assume it is a software/firmware issue. Would be nice that LG would fix this as it should be an easy programming update. Considering the size of the craft ice balls and the quality of the ice I'm not surprised that it takes time to produce, i use the 6 balls per 24 hrs. I found during hot days that i used the Ice Plus feature to speed up ice production. This product is far better than my pevious Samsung fridge. Again would be geat if there is a firmware/software update to count when the view door opens.

                  Poorly designed water filter system
                  Purchased this model autumn of 2021 from Home Depot. We were pleased until the time came to do the “mandatory” water filter replacement. Ice makers stop working, filters are very expensive and in this model almost impossible to “seat” properly without a service call. The tech has to “gorilla” the filter into place. Now we are stuck yet again with being unable to do this ourselves. Terrible design for such an expensive purchase. We would return it if we could and will not buy another LG fridge.

                    Lots of space not lots of ice.
                    We had chronic problems with our Samsung refrigerator ice maker going out so we were advised to get a frig with two ice makers, one in the freezer. We loved having the craft ice and the ice maker in the door is sufficient for us. All the reviews last year were great (this was a new model). Now 16 months later, the craft ice maker makes a horrible clacking sound as the round balls can no longer drop. We were told this is a common issue and while the craft ice was a great incentive to buy the refrigerator, LG had not worked out the technology completely. There is no fix, so an extended warranty is useless. Don’t bother buying this model, you won’t have craft ice for long.

                        Worst ice machine ever!
                        We purchased this fridge because our other 5 year old LG went out already. We thought it would be great to have the craft ice but it only produces 3-6 per 24 hours. We also got this refrigerator because it has dual ice making like our other one but it does NOT actually produce regular ice for the bottom drawer. Just the craft ice which is only good for a couple of beverages a day and who only drinks 2 glasses of water etc? It is a huge shame as we always run out of ice everyday.

                          Bad Investment
                          I’ve had this refrigerator less than a year I wish I had read these reviews before I paid the money invested in this model. The one I have constantly leaks water from the ice maker in the door when I called they said empty the ice maker although this did work, why should I have to get up in the morning to water all over my floor I will never buy any other LG anything. Mainly because everything I’ve read coming from them in these reviews has nothing about helping fix the issues just contact us, well most of the people have contacted you without a fix to the issues we’re having. Way too much to spend on a refrigerator that doesn’t work properly.

                            Faulty Water Filter Replacement
                            Beautiful refrigerator until we had to change the water filter - there is a problem with the design and it is impossible to reattach a new filter as the ridged catch is no longer in the correct place. Discovered these complaints everywhere online. Also there is no listing anywhere for a compatible air filter replacement and that light has now been on for 3 weeks. Really disappointed.
