the lg 8000 has performed as expected and installation components were adequate. Two areas however are outdated. #1 the function lights are incredible small and almost useless. #2 the remote is outdated, it should have visible functional displays on the remote

Developed mold
Bought this July 2018. Was loud but cooled my downstairs well. This summer 2023 I started smelling a musty smell. The air return developed mold and white stuff. We took the cover off and attempted to clean it but there was too much of it. Was not worth the effort. Also, we were not sure if we could get it all clean. We decided to throw it out because we felt it was not safe to use. I only found 1 review with complaints of mold so I thought I should review it. Probably won’t buy another LG.

          I had a Zenith 8,000 BTU in my dining room window. I put it there because it was between my dining room and parlor. I was hoping to cool both rooms. Well the Zenith didn't do the job. My LG is great it cools not only my dining room, parlor and my Kitchen. I also have a 5,000 BTU in my bedroom and I can sleep while it is running. I am a very happy customer!

So I bought the same type again, only this one has WI-Fi and connects to Alexa.. It cools my whole living room and dining area.( about 400 Sq Ft ) It's quiet and cools nicely..

                  More trouble than its worth
                  I bought this last year. And it is deteriorating rapidly. It goes through periods where it will not cool, according to LG support the only remedy is to unplug the unit (sometimes for hours) and then run it (again sometimes for hours) at max cool and max fan to get it working again. When it doesn't work, it will emit a loud distressing buzzing noise. Since last year it has gotten noticeably worse, requiring this hard restart at least once a day. I cannot use the cooling during the night, as it will inevitably fail and wake me up with the buzzing sound. If you like the idea of constantly fiddling with your AC unit, of never knowing how long your rooms will be cool, or what horrible noises you will endure, This is the unit for you. For all others, I would avoid.

                    Over a short period of time this unit has progressively gotten worse at cooling a room. This is only my second year of ownership and the amount of cooling is a fraction of how it was new. Not worth the electricity cost. Very disappointed.

                      The A/C works well, but it does not get as cold as it is supposed to. The thermostat says 60°, but the coldest the room has ever gotten is 65°, per the thermometer built into the A/C. We bought a larger unit for our living room at the same time as this one and it gets that large room down to 60° with no issues. This 8,000 BTU unit is cooling a 12’x12’ room so it should have no problem getting the room to 60° at night. I love the smart features and Alexa integration so my only issue is it not getting cold enough.

                        Impossible to install / uninstall and came broken
                        This unit is so complicated I had to hire someone to install it only to find out that it wasn't blowing cold air. The unit gets quite literally bolted to the window so taking it apart is next to impossible. DO NOT BUY
