OMG, this was a very pretty unit for the first few years, but we did have problems in the beginning. They replaced some part early, and also replaced the front panel of the freezer because of condensation.
I'm about 45 minutes into yet another call to LG, which gave me time to stew about this and write this review.
Our freezer went out around the first of August 2019...in TEXAS. We kinda need ice and cold stuff this time of year! I called LG, after all, they claim to have outstanding customer service. I can tell you they do NOT. The first available service appointment was almost a month away, and they want to charge a $129 dispatch fee that is NOT applied to your repair. Good thing they pushed back on the date, because it prompted me to Google, finding out that there have been TWO class action lawsuits against LG for the linear compressor on this refrigerator.
We called another LG-authorized service company in Austin which misdiagnosed a defroster problem. Now we're out $430 for a repair that didn't fix the problem. Our fridge is at 63°F in the fridge and 33°F in the freezer. They told us it was a "good thing it wasn't the compressor" because that would be a $1200 REPAIR and they can't even get the compressors from LG, even though they are an authorized LG repair provider.
LG is NO HELP WHATSOEVER, and now that I told them we had another repair company come to do what they should be doing, they're now acting like I need to deal with that company instead of LG directly. Oh, and that Wifi Smart app that will diagnose your unit? Nope, I was told that it's been "down for weeks" and they can't do that, either.
DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. We spent $3800 on this one exact refrigerator, and regret it. We've now been without a refrigerator for three weeks, with no end in sight, and dining out is costing us $50 a day while we wait it out.
