This system has the best user friendly guide and set up. The reviews are excellent! That is why we purchased this system and WE are sure excited and so very pleased that we did. This system is worth each and every penny....we watch the house in real time from another state!! We also monitor events here at home as well as on our cell phones. WE LOVE THIS UNIT! I had to call technical service to clear a small issue with the IP number and they were so very pleasant and helpful right away! This system is the only way to go!! Perfect and beautiful color pictures stream 24/7 Thank you Home Depot for providing another GREAT purchase for us! My husband and I installed the entire system ourselves and we are in our 60's.Performance has been excellent in every way! The night vision on this system is AMAZING!

I hardly ever write reviews, but this LaView camera system is just awesome! I've never had a surveillance system before, but felt now was the time. Did a fair amount of research on the net, and determined I wanted at least 6 cameras, IP, 1080P, power over Ethernet (PoE), decent size reliable hard drive, remote viewing, etc. I looked at other brands, but finally narrowed it down to the LaView 8 channel/8 camera 2TB setup. And I never expected Home Depot would have the best price, but they did. In fact a few weeks later they dropped the price a little bit more, and a simple call to Home Depot's customer service was all it took to take advantage of their price guarantee, and I quickly received a credit back for the difference. Installation was easy. I placed the NVR in one of my garage cabinets, but the fan noise is low enough where it would have been fine in the house also. And the garage is also very close to 4 of the cameras and did not have to get in the attic for those. Attached is a picture of one overlooking my driveway. I used a single gang box with a ½” conduit running back up into the attic. Just enough conduit to hide the wiring. Included camera cables are a generous 100 feet, nice. Configuration was easy. Overall this has been a great purchase.

Installation was fairly easy. Setup and configuration following the directions had no issues. The camera quality is excellent.

Overall, the system is decent. Picked up this exact system with the (8) bullet cameras and 2TB HD from Home Depot at a decent price; the price fluctuates every few months. With still or slow moving objects, the picture quality does appears to be 1080P. However, it does not capture exceptional motion picture or video (different settings have been used without any real gain). It does provide a decent image overall - enough to identify the nature of an event but not detailed enough to provide unique facial features. At night, there is no "true" picture definition on moving objects, the infrared lights could be a bit more robust to assist with image quality. Installation is fairly easy due to the PoE capability and ease of camera mounting. Of course, this will vary by building structure and location. One Ethernet cable per camera is all it takes to get this system up and running. The NVR has plenty of power to distribute between all (8) cameras and then some. Set up is also easy - clear, plain and easy to read menus (some settings do require a more tech-savvy approach) with various capabilities. I've had this system for 2-years and it's held up so far. It's worth mentioning that the first NVR I received was bricked (probably refurbished) and I could not set it up. Although customer service could not help me get into it, they promptly shipped me another unit as soon as they received the defective one. Even though they are local here in southern Cali, they do not allow walk-ins or local pick-up, everything is mailed in/out. The unit is quiet, doesn't take up much space and does not run hot at all (maybe a tad warm). There is space for another HD on board. The cameras are average size, they can be mounted pretty much anywhere. The swivel mounting brackets allows them to be angled in any direction, without having to unscrew them (picture rotation can also be adjusted in settings). Again, the IR lights could be more efficient, they do not project out far enough and are not powerful enough to be effective at medium to long range. In conclusion, this system is worth the money if you can get it at a decent price. The mobile application does allow you to keep an eye on your property remotely (high bandwidth required) and it's several options allow for a variety of configurations (ex. motion detection with mobile notification).

Whole hard drive died just over a year after purchase. Tech support is puts you on a long hold then, "leave a message and we will get back to you". Guess I just wait home next to my broken camera system hoping they will get back to me. Online support absolutely not helpful. Can't believe what a waste of money this is and now I have to rip out the whole system.

We had so much hope based on the previous reviews when we bought this system for our apartment complex. THE DVR didn't show a picture from the beginning; we contacted the tech support from LaView, we tested it at their recommendation on two different monitors with both the VGA and HDMI - NOTHING! We also emailed the company requesting an RMA ticket, repair or replace- still no answer. We don't want to return the set, we just want to have a working DVR if it's not too much to ask.They have a policy of repair or replace for defective products for one year from purchase date, it looks like we have to return the whole thing. Home Depot, can you make LaView aware of this? I'll write another review if I'll hear from the company.

I purchase this system for the home so I can see things while I'm away. The cameras are clear as day you can see everything from the back of the house to the street. The night vision is great you can clearly see the people as if were day time. The phone app is outstanding, you can look at all eight cameras or focas on one area. The only thing I would recommend is to watch the videos on YouTube for setting up the NVR. The phone app and the nvr take time so don't be in a hurry do some studying on the instructions. Love Love the system well worth the money.

I ordered the "8-Channel Full HD IP Indoor/Outdoor Surveillance 2TB HDD NVR Video Security System (8) 1080P Camera with Free App" from the Home Depot online site. When the system was delivered I removed the video recorder from the shipping box and I could hear a part rolling around inside the video recorder case. Rotating the video case and looking thru a ventilation screen on the side of the case revealed a small black rectangular object that looked like a cooling tower for a heat source on the printed circuit board and what looked like dried epoxy glue on the bottom surface of the object I returned the recorder and the shipping box to my local Home Depot for a refund. When I called to reorder a replacement unit I was told that it was sold out. I was very pleased with Home Depot's quick and courteous refund of the purchase but not so happy with LaView's quality control.

Very easy to install. Starts working immediately. The only issue is setting up the remote (iPhone). It takes sometime to go through the security measures. Images are high definition. Very recommendable.

I did ALOT of searching before I decided on this purchase, and I'm so glad this is the one that I bought. Cameras work great. Nice clear images and the app works great also. The night time vision is pretty decent for a 2 megapixel camera. The installation of cameras was pretty easy, however the set up was confusing at time because there are really no instructions, but it's all set up, running and I would recommend this product to anyone.

This surveillance system produced excellent picture quality, functions and it is easy to install. The LaView web site offers the video for setting up the system. It requires to have some knowledge of some technical terms due to the fact that the video was make with an older version of NVR software. The NVR is running 24/7 and it is not noise or hot as described in other review.

Only part I spent time is putting up the cameras and wiring. Great instruction guide for easy setup; watch YouTube video for remote view. Overall great buy at this price.
