I am A welder of 13 years and use stick and flux at home for everything. I have a Hobart Handler 120. And it is just not hot enough. Needed to speed up production time. I bought this Lincoln 180 HD 3 days ago and finished my job fast. One problem they don't tell you....is that you can not plug it straight in to the dryer hook up. The welder can run up to 50 amps. Dryer hook up is 30 amps. A Stove range is 50 amp. I didn't want to change the dryer plug in the garage, because I run my stick welder off of it. So you can make a pig tail with the 6-50R female end wired with 240 volt 50 amp cord 1ft long to a 30/50A-125/250V. witch will plug in to dryer and you can start welding the once you hook it up. I am no electrician....lol and I put it together. I love this welder......I can run hard wire Hot and fast. I welded up to 1/2 thick with hard wire. solid hot, no under cut , nice fill. Need I tell you I weld with 3/32, 5/64, 1/16 outer shield wire on a daily bases at work. Needed a better welder for home. This litter welder can get r done. The roller is smooth and quiet, runs very good hot flat welds. Sounds like bacon cooking lol.
I am only running the Lincoln on 220 v 30 amp dryer plug and it works great, even on the highest setting. Very happy customer,....to bad it didn't come with the Aluminum spool gun.....
that's only $200.00 extra and does not come with 045. roller. has to be ordered.
I do highly recommend this welder, good price....
