EXCELLENT SMAW UNIT!
I've been welding for years now. I own several welders (top of the line equipment. ie. Lincoln Powermig 256, Powermig 140c, Miller X-treme 625 plasma, etc...) However, my favorite welder is the time tested and PROOVEN Lincoln AC/DC-225 stick welder (aka: "Tombstone"). I LOVE THIS MACHINE! I'm basically a DIYer that does repair work for now and then such as truck beds, bumpers, roll bars, suspension repairs, gates, fences, go-karts, farm equipment repairs, and art. I seem to always come back to the Tombstone by Lincoln the most.
For welding in tight corners, during windy days, dirty, dusty conditions, rusty or oily steel, one can't beat a "stick" welder. This Lincoln AC/DC-225 is DYNAMITE! It's so tough, rugged and so dependable! There's no digital displays to break, no CPU (computer) control modules to worry about, no moving parts (except for a cooling fan) and it's just a dream to use. Plus, this old Lincoln reminds me of a piece of equipment I used to see my Grandfather use on his property! It's OLD SCHOOL technology that just plain WORKS!!! Why change it if it was never broke to begin with? Linclon did this machine right!
I beg to differ when people say it's only good for "1/4" steel. NO WAY! I've welded 1/2" plate with E-6011 rods and have gotten awesome penetration! I used it to weld back two teeth on a D8 dozer blade, using E-7018 LO-HI rods. So far, the blade hasn't lost those two teeth yet!
I've welded broken suspension parts on jeeps with it, broken tie rods, fab'd a 1/4" thick "armor" bumper for a Dodge 4x4 with a custom winch housing... all with the Lincoln stick Tombstone! I'v used 6013 to weld in a 4"x16" piece of 16ga sheet metal on a rusted out wheel-barrow bottom without over penetration.
I love my Migs because I can produce a nicer looking weld than with stick. However, a better welder than me can produce nicer stick welds with my Lincoln stick welder. I know, because I let a "Picasso" use my welder at my shop and I was "reborn!" His welds from MY stick machine outdid my awesome mig welds!
Get this welder for your home, shop, farm, art work, light to medium repair jobs... you name it! I'd only recommend a bigger unit with a higher duty cycle IF I was welding high rise buildings, army tanks or on a production line. Seriously, if you're not welding anything ROUTINELY thicker than 5/8", this welder will come through 100% of the time. Make sure you get the AC/DC model, vs. the AC only. The DC option makes mighty fine smoother arcs. When I need to crank out big welds for really thick steel, then I run AC.

Great Welder!
I love my Lincoln Electric AC/DC 225/125. It's a great versatile machine, reliable as all get out and gets the job done right. With Lincoln electrodes, there's not much you can't do without this welder. I'm so loyal to this machine that I didn't bother upgrading to an Idealarc 250 because I was so satisfied with my AC/DC 225/125. Everything the other reviewers said is absolutely true. The bottom line is that this is a machine that always gets the job done and never lets you down. It's worth every penny. Given that Lincoln Electric machines are so well built, it's not uncommon to see 30 year old AC/DC 225/125's still working perfectly. Definite 5 stars!

It's a Lincoln what can I say
I have been welding for 35 yrs. If your looking for a arc (stick) welder, look no further. This machine can weld up to 5/16-7018 (Low Hydrogen) and up to 3/16 Mild Steel. You can even carbon arc (back gouge) with 1/4 inch carbon rod. If you have an air supply that is. Yes, there is bigger (amps). But if your not building a ship. This is the machine for stick welding!!!!

This is an excellent arc welder for the professional or hobbyist. Plenty of power for pretty much any job or task. This is also a great tool for the beginning welder as well. As a welder with over twenty year's experience, I would highly recommend this welding machine to anyone who is wanting to do quality welding with little difficulty.

Good welder for the price.
Excelent for home use, and come with three year warranty. It is better when you add the kit for mobility.

This is a great machine..
based on the classic Lincoln welder. It is powerful, versatile and durable. The DC capabilities enable you to weld a variety of metals and adjust the arc to suit your preference and task conditions.
